2014 Domaine Aurélien Verdet Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots"
Review Date: 06-22-2017
Shortly after opening this wine and allowing it to breathe I thought to myself-not showing a lot...then I came back to it a while later and was blown away. The complexity of this wine is quite impressive, tons of spice, white chocolate and fresh red berry notes are present on the multi-dimensional nose. The palate slowly unfurls to reveal complex notes of red cherry, spice, mineral and earth notes. The dusty tannins present themselves as all the components come together on the long, long finish. A cellar-worthy offering that will handsomely reward those with a bit of patience.

This wine is loaded with oodles of fruit. Very open-knit with soft tannins and layer-upon-layer of perfectly ripe red fruit with subtle spice and oak notes this is a deceptively approachable Nuits St Georges. Ideal for the Burgundian enthusiast looking for a drink now 1er Cru this amazing offering is a steal at 1/2 its regular pricing.

2014 Domaine Aurélien Verdet Nuits-St-Georges
Review Date: 06-22-2017
Out of our trio of $34.99 offerings I can't decide which I like more between the Vosne Romanee and Nuits St. Georges. The Nuits St Georges true to form has a bit more structure and rusticity, but with that comes more complexity and age-worthiness. Red fruits and spice dominate from start to finish here with great energy and dusty tannins. An absolute delight this is a fabulous entry-level offering.

2014 Domaine Aurélien Verdet Gevrey-Chambertin
Review Date: 06-22-2017
Delicious! This is a ready-to-drink red Burgundy that way over-delivers given its meager cost. Our least expensive Gevrey Chambertin is also one of our best, this dark berry, cola-laden offering has pretty spice and oak notes to buffer the soft fruit flavors. A classic Gevrey, this is a no-brainer at only $34.99.

2014 Henri de Villamont Meursault "Clos du Cromin"
Review Date: 02-02-2017
This is an elegant take on Meursault that really speaks to the qualities of the 2014 vintage in Burgundy: the whites are clean and easy to drink. In Meursault, there were some reduced yields due to hail, but the wines that I've tasted thus far have been outstanding. The '14 "Clos du Cromin" is every bit as impressive as the Decanter review describes. It's fresh on the palate with length through the finish and it offers classic Burgundian flavors of toasty oak and stone fruit with a nuttiness on the finish. I'm hoping we can find more direct deals like this one from the vintage.
