Much of the fruit for this luscious red comes from Simi's Red Fan and Los Amigos estate vineyards in Alexander Valley, with the remainder sourced from across Sonoma. This Champagne is made entirely from selected grand cru estate fruit from the village of Mesnil. It is fermented and aged in 600-liter new-oak casks before being bottled and aged four years on the lees. It has a super-rich nose of vanilla, sourdough toast and Mesnil minerals. In the mouth it is very racy and dry, not nearly as broad as the rich nose suggests. Our second vintage of this DI Albariño, this wine shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit and a brisk, saline tinged palate. Located in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea, where the days are a bit warmer and evenings are slightly cooler, there is a wonderful mid-palate presence to complement the typically lean and mineral qualities of Albariño. A classic with any shellfish, especially Dungeness crab!
A blend of 60% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 30% Grenache, the unusual indigo-colored bottle is utilized as a UV filter in order to maintain the wine's fresh profile for as long as possible. Made with an unusually high attention to detail for a rosé, the grapes were hand-harvested into small bins before being carefully sorted in the gravity-fed cellar. The is a delicious and sensual rosé with an exotic perfume of candied violets, lilies, and strawberries.
Stephane Vedeau is the proprietor/winemaker behind critical darling Les Fermes du Mont. In 2010, Vedeau added Clos Bellane from the Côtes du Rhône-Village Valreas to his portfolio. Château Bois-Malot, located in Saint Loubes and situated on the shoreline of the Dordogne River, produces Entre-Deux-Mers from 2 hectares of vineyards from vines with an average age of 15 years. The soils are clay and light limestone with a subsoil of red pebbles and clay. Planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot. Full-bodied, spicy, with pepper notes and leather.
