2017 Chateau de Chemilly Chablis
Review Date: 12-06-2019
This is a fantastic entry-level Chablis. Aromas of the ocean breeze, white flowers and citrus rise from the glass. The palate is electric with flavors of orchard fruits and citrus nicely buffered by racy acidity and crisp tannins. The wine is remarkably full-bodied with surprising richness and structure. The finish is outstanding with length and vibrancy. I really enjoyed this wine and will definitely be buying some for myself this holiday season.

2018 Bonpas "Croix de Bonpas" Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages
Review Date: 12-03-2019
I didn't think it was possible but I think I prefer the Croix de Bonpas to the Dame de Bonpas! The nose is absolutely enthralling with notes of raspberry kirsch, Baker's Chocolate, licorice and smoke while the palate is a seamless blend of red and black fruits and spice. The wine has great acidity and balance which allows the way to always be in complete harmony between the fruit, tannin, alcohol and sugar. This is an outstanding Cotes du Rhone and a steal at only $13.99. If you loved the Dame de Bonpas then you'll be absolutely infatuated with the Croix de Bonpas.

2016 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese Mosel
Review Date: 11-13-2019
What a beautiful wine! The nose is absolutely intoxicating with floral and orchard fruit notes as well as a touch of wets stone and petrol. The palate is delightfully rich with cool orchard fruits and subtle spice notes while the finish echoes dried apricot notes. A balanced and nuanced Riesling that is capable of regaling the connoisseur and seducing the layman.

2017 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes-du-Rhône
Review Date: 11-13-2019
Easily one of the greatest values year-in-and-year-out in the Rhone Valley the 2017 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Rouge is a winner once again. This is basically "Baby Beaucastel" at an entry-level price. From the very first sniff from the glass the pedigree here is apparent, crackling red fruits, garrigue, spice and licorice notes dominate the nose while the palate is fresh, long and packed with spicy red fruit. This wine has amazing length and a dry, mouth-coating finish. An impressive wine that stands on its own and can easily age and mature over the next 15+ years to reveal greater depth and complexity.

2017 Sattler Zweigelt Burgenland
Review Date: 09-26-2019
In the past a lot of Austrian reds were hard and tannic. Not anymore. Most are lively, zesty, and easily approachable. The 2017 Erich Sattler Zweigelt is a delicious little red wine that way over-delivers, considering its price. The nose is loaded with red and black fruits and spice notes, and the palate is rich and inviting, with berry fruit, licorice, and Asian spice flavors. A prime match for pizza, pasta, or burgers, this wine is a great compromise when trying to decide between Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.

2017 Rosi Schuster Rotberger (Zweigelt) Burgenland
Review Date: 09-25-2019
One of my favorites Austrian reds right now, the 2017 Rosi Schuster Blaufränkisch starts off with heady aromas of sour cherry, black licorice, Amaro, and spice. On the palate, red fruits dominate, and then give way to a cool rush of menthol and spice. This wine is sleek and elegant, and can pair with a wide variety of cuisines.

The 2017 Domaine du Vissoux Pierre Marie Chermette Moulin-a-Vent "Les Trois Roches" is a beguiling wine. The aromas are simply stunning with hints of crushed geraniums, red fruits, exotic spice and a slight not of volcanic rock this wine hints at greatness merely from a whiff from the glass. The palate confirms it as it pulsates with electricity and vibrancy with flavors of red fruits, bitter chocolate and marzipan. A standout wine form the fabulous 2017 Beaujolais vintage!!

2017 Domaine Jean-Michel Dupre "Le Grottier" Morgon
Review Date: 08-16-2019
The Domaine Dupre Morgon "Le Grottier" is a different beast than its brother "Cote du Py." Earthier and more driven, this wine shows a touch more complexity and drive with layers of cracked pepper, blue fruits, suppler tannins, and sweet tobacco notes. A fantastic Morgon that is a steal at only $16.99!!

2017 Chateau de la Maltroye Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Chenevottes"
Review Date: 08-16-2019
There's been a lot of talk regarding the rising prices of white Burgundy, accompanied by a lot of hand-wringing. To be able to drink this kind of quality from a top 1er Cru site for under $60 is a godsend. Powerful, rich, structured, and brimming with waxy yellow fruits and tropical notes, this zesty, layered masterpiece is a wonderful insight into the greatness that is the 2017 white Burgundy vintage.

1997 Domaine Tortochot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Review Date: 07-31-2019
The oldest and loveliest of the Tortochot Grand Crus the 1997 is a rose/brackish red with alluring aromas of dried herbs, strawberry compote and spice. The palate is surprisingly spry and lively with red fruit, crackling tannins and impressive drive and verve thru the mid-palate all the way to the finish. Out of all the Tortochot's I think I was most impressed by this wine.

2017 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc "Les Sétilles"
Review Date: 07-24-2019
The 2016 Setilles flew off our shelves thanks to a 91-point score and it happened to be one of the featured wines poured at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, I prefer the 2017. It is a bright, energetic white with zesty flavors and aromas of lemon, orchard fruits, and a touch of salinity. Perfectly balanced with just a hint of oak, this complex, everyday white should be snatched up by the case! Sourced 50/50 from Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, this is a stunning white wine value and a worthy successor to the delicious 2016!

2015 E. Guigal Saint-Joseph Rouge
Review Date: 04-17-2019
Guigal just cranks out winner-after-winner and the 2015 Saint Joseph Rouge is no exception. This wine is absolutely seductive from the very sniff, lots of exotic spice and red and black fruit aromas. The palate is lively and dense with red cherries, licorice, crushed rock, bitter chocolate and a zippy finish. An outstanding value this wine drinks handsomely now and should give you pleasure over the next 5-10 years as well.

2016 Domaine La Barroche "Signature" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Review Date: 03-07-2019
Young Julien Barrot of Domaine la Barroche is a name to remember, only in his 30s he is already becoming world-renowned for fashioning some of the greatest young Chateauneuf-du-Papes currently available in the market. The Signature is stunning from the very first sniff from the glass where aromas of Asian spice, marzipan, baker's chocolate and cassis liqueur all slowly rise from the glass. The palate is alive with flavors of blackberry and cassis jelly buffered by lively acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long and supple with spice and berry flavors slowly fading away in perfect harmony.

2016 Domaine Pierre Usseglio Lirac Rouge
Review Date: 12-18-2018
What a fantastic Lirac! This wine starts out with a drop-dead gorgeous array of Baker's chocolate, marzipan, dark berry and spice aromas. The palate is loaded with macerated dark berries, spice, silky tannins and mouthwatering acidity. The finish is long and smooth and lasts a good 30+ seconds after swallowing. This is a showstopper and easily merits a 6 bottle purchase if not a case.

This is an absolute knock-out wine! Gorgeous aromas of bitter chocolate, marzipan, wild raspberry and exotic spice notes. The palate is a sexy mash-up of red fruits, dried herbs, beef blood and crushed volcanic rock all wrapped around silky tannins and racy acidity. The 2015 Janasse Cotes-du-Rhone shows off the very best of the 2015 vintage in the Rhone Valley which is renowned for its fruit-forwardness and power.

2016 Domaine la Garrigue "Cuvée Romaine" Côtes du Rhône

From the moment I brought the glass to my nose I knew I had something special here. This wine drinks like a wine 2-3 times the price with ease and if you're looking for a case-worthy wine to purchase this holiday season this should be your first choice. The nose is a gorgeous mixture of spice, dried herbs, berry and game aromas. The palate deftly blends berry, spice, earth, minerals and crunchy tannins on an explosive yet somehow balanced palate. This amazing value is the perfect example of how incredible the 2016 vintage in the Rhone Valley is and you owe it to yourself to grab at least a few bottles of this wonderful elixir.

2005 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Review Date: 09-08-2017
The 2005 Lynch Bages Pauillac is exactly what you want from one of Bordeaux's premier properties. 2005 was a fantastic vintage in Bordeaux and the 2005 Lynch Bages is a monumental wine. Blood red in color with spice and scorched earth notes the palate slowly unwinds to savory berry fruit notes and fine, smooth tannins. Notes of black licorice and mocha complete the long, smooth finish. This is a classic Lynch Bages in every sense.

Last year I had the opportunity to visit Chateau d’Issan for the first time and I was absolutely blown away by both the beauty of the Chateau as well as the deliciousness of the wines. The 2012 d’Issan Margaux for $49.99 is a flat-out steal and is easily one of the better values I have tasted for under $50. A beautiful nose of rose, raspberry cream and subtle hints of mocha follow thru to a delicate and pretty palate of dark raspberry, graphite and crushed flowers. Great structure and delineation lead to a soft and supple finish. Bravo!!

2010 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux

Seamless and plush, with hints of chocolate and mint on the nose and chocolate-covered cherry flavors on the palate. This wine is hedonistic, sexy and tough to spit out.

2009 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Review Date: 03-07-2012
Gigantic. Bursting at the seams with fruit, along with rich oak and tannins. The wine still manages to be remarkably balanced.

2009 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien
Review Date: 03-05-2012
Easily a candidate for wine of the vintage; this wine is huge, but so smooth. Its deceptive power almost goes by unnoticed.

2010 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 05-16-2011
Very restrained and closed right now on the nose, but showing darker fruits on the palate.
