2016 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune

Jean-Michel is the third Giboulot to head the family estate in Savigny-lès-Beaune, having presided over the 12 hectares in Beaune, Pommard, and Savigny since 1982. Following Jean-Michel's recent conversion to organic farming, the wines have become fresher and rounder, and the increased proportion of destemmed fruit has helped this transition in style. Much as with Giboulot's 2015s, his 2016s are undoubtedly some of the best we've tasted yet from the portfolio, one that we've been working with directly now for a number of years.

2014 Domaine Joseph Roty Marsannay

90 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Marsannay villages from the Rotys is a lovely wine that will drink beautifully from the moment it is released. The nose wafts from the glass in a classy blend of plummy fruit, black cherries, grilled meats, a fine base of soil and a touch of raw cocoa in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and shows off very good mid-palate depth, with a bit of well-buffered tannin, fine acids and a long, nascently complex and nicely transparent finish. Good juice. Drink between 2016-2035." (11/2016) 88-90 ...

2016 Château de la Charrière Santenay Blanc 1er Cru "Beauregard"

The Girardin family has cultivated the vine for 13 generations, and the domaine developed in the sixties thanks to Jean Girardin, notably with the acquisition of Château de la Charrière. Having passed his childhood amongst the vines and in the cellar, Yves developed a passion for all aspects of wine and its culture. In 1981 the family holding of 12 hectares was divided, and Yves found himself at the head of 3 hectares. Wishing to grow and diversify his range of appellations, he bought vines at Chassagne-Montrachet and Pommard and today holds 21.50 hect ...

2017 Domaine Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin "Clos Prieur"

92 points Wine Spectator: "Supple in texture, this red boasts cherry, black currant, graphite and earth notes. Starts out very elegant for the appellation, picking up firm tannins and more weight on the long finish. Best from 2022 through 2035. 2015 Château Vitallis Pouilly-Fuissé "Les Perrieres"

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A selection from top Dutron family vineyards in the village of Fuissé goes into this wine. Ripe with apricot and mango flavors that are rounded out with spice from wood aging, the wine is full without losing any crispness or ripe acidity. Drink this concentrated wine now." (04/2019) K&L Notes: Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. 2016 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Fournaux"

Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. His wines are known as great values out of Burgundy's Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation and both the reds and whites are equally strong. Giboulet's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and pureness of fruit.
