2004 l'Avocat "Cuvée Speciale", Graves

This was the 2nd vintage from Sean Allison-released to us again in 2019. I’m excited to introduce to you our latest DI – Direct import from Bordeaux; Ch. L’Avocat from the small commune of Cerons which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. I met Nicola Allison at a small conference of Women from Bordeaux and Napa Valley in Napa earlier this year. She followed my advice by sending her wines to our hotel in April to be tasted and Clyde and I liked them. I followed up by visiting the estate almost eight weeks lat ...

2004 Dominio de Atauta Ribera del Duero

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The entry level 2004 Atauta comes from 60- to 150-year-old, biodynamically farmed, mostly ungrafted Tempranillo bush vines. The wine is aged in 100% French oak of which 20% is new. Dark ruby/purple in color, it has an expressive nose of spice box, coffee, black cherry and blackberry. Made in a racy style, with good acidity, this wine admirably combines ripe, sweet fruit with elegance. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. Kudos to Dominio Atauta! (JM)" (02/2007) 90 points Vinous: "Saturated violet. Dense, smoky an ...

2004 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port

92 points Wine Spectator: "Showing the benefits of maturity, with a core of gently steeped plum, blackberry and black currant fruit that slowly morphs into warm ganache, singed cinnamon stick and mulled wine accents on the finish, all while keeping its energy up. Drink now through 2021. (JM)" (02/2019) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "Straight up-and-down delicious, this is a Port that’s ready to drink, focused on flavor dimension rather than hyperconcentration. It’s gentle and refined, with a smoky edge to its bright plum and bitter almond flavors, chocolat ...

2004 Pride Mountain Sonoma County Syrah

93 points Wine Spectator: "An amazing wine that keeps sprinkling out new flavors. Firm, dense and marked by grapey Syrah flavors built around wild berry, pepper, spice, anise, sage and espresso bean. Tannins tighten up on the finish, providing excellent structure. (JL)" (10/2006) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium ruby. Wild aromas of roasted black raspberry, pepper, bacon fat and nutty oak. Silky and fine-grained, with a gamey syrah character that's currently overshadowed by an impression of strong acidity. Very intense ...

The 2004 Red Wind is the next vintage in the Trolley Series. It is called Red Wind after the hot, dry off-shore winds that periodically blast Los Angeles. It is thick purple to the rim of the glass. The aromas are wild blueberries and violets. It literally explodes in the mouth the blue and black fruit flavors, giving one's palate the sense of a sweet, round center held together by a vibrant acidity.

2004 Tenuta di Ghizzano "Nambrot" Toscana

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Nambrot, a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot saw 18 months of French oak. It reveals attractive note of blueberries, spices and sweet toasted oak on a structured frame, offering outstanding length and fine overall balance. A year or two of bottle aging should help integrate the new oak tannins. (AG)" (02/2007) Vinous: "(a blend of 70% merlot, 20% cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, and 10% petit verdot) Dark ruby. 2004 Corté Riva Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits abundant scents of espresso roast, black cherries, cassis, and chocolate. More structured and backward than the Merlot, with a more linear, masculine mouthfeel, it will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age, and should keep for 10-15 years. (RP)" (12/2006) Wine Spectator: "Intense floral and dusty and cedary oak flavors lead to a dried berry and wood character on the palate. Drink now through 2011. 800 cases made. (JL, Web Only-2007)"

2004 Hartford "Fanucchi-Wood Road" Russian River Valley Zinfandel

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although this cuvee was freshly bottled the week I tasted it, it performed fabulously well. The 2004 Zinfandel Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard, from vines planted in 1906, boasts a dense saturated ruby/purple color, and a big, peppery, sweet nose of black cherries, raspberries, licorice, forest floor, and underbrush. This spicy Zinfandel possesses abundant richness, concentration, and intensity. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. 2004 David Arthur "Meritaggio" Napa Valley Red Blend

A Bordeaux-style blend with an Italian accent, this red benefits from a small percentage of Sangiovese, which provides the "aggio" on the end of the name as well as a spicy note of black cherry and pepper. Decant and enjoy tonight or tuck this one away and forget about it for a couple of years.

2004 Philippe Delesvaux Sélection de Grains Nobles Coteaux du Layon (500ml)

95 points Wine Spectator: "Seems very rich at first, with blood orange, persimmon and ginger notes, but then the fine minerality takes over, carrying it to a long elegant finish thanks to its rapierlike acidity. Each sip makes you want another. Drink now through 2020. (JM)" (11/2006) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Supersweet, but never cloying, with acidity, pear skin tannins and delicate sweet brown sugar and honey flavors. It is a great example of how Loire Chenin manages to keep its balance and freshness while still offering long-aging botrytis charact ...

2004 Turley "Pesenti" Paso Robles Zinfandel

90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From Paso Robles’ limestone soils, the 2004 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard could pass for a Grenache-based southern Rhone with its striking minerality, pepper and kirsch liqueur-like notes. Full-bodied, but remarkably fresh (thanks to the limestone), it possesses 16+% alcohol, but that component is well-concealed by the wine’s fruit and structure. (RP)" (12/2005) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red. Superripe aromas of brambly red fruits and pepper. Dense, sappy and sweet, with a ...

2004 Ambullneo "Bulldog Reserve" Santa Maria Pinot Noir

93 points from Robert Parker! -"The 2004 Pinot Noir Bulldog Reserve is fashioned from the Solomon Hills Vineyard (80%) and two other Central Coast sites. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by an expressive bouquet of red and black currants, cherries, plums, flowers, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied with silky tannin, and a style not dissimilar from a grand cru Cotes de Nuits from Flagey-Echezeaux, this delicate wine is loaded with flavor intensity. Kudos to proprietor Greg Linn and his winemaker, Scott Ames." #166 Aug 2006 Cloves, violets, blac ...

2004 Turley "Dogtown" Lodi Zinfandel

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From alluvial soils, the 2004 Zinfandel Dogtown Vineyard exhibits a cooler climate elegance, and not quite the weight or muscle of its siblings. Readers looking for a restrained, delicate Zinfandel should check out this cuvee. (RP)" (12/2005) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Roasted black raspberry and chocolate liqueur on the nose. Large-scaled, lush and fat, with dense, hugely sweet dark fruit and mineral flavors. 2004 Navarro "Deep End Blend" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

Navarro's most-sought-after Pinot Noir, the Deep End Blend, is an old Boontling term for the chilly northwestern edge of the Anderson Valley where the grapes, cooled by ocean breezes, mature slowly and ripen late. This wine is a blend of Navarro's best lots from the estate's best Deep End vineyards aged in the best barrels so it is a special wine that is only produced in a limited quantity.

2004 Linne Calodo "Outsider" Paso Robles Red Blend

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 The Outsider (380 cases) is a Syrah-dominated blend produced from north-facing slopes. It reveals surprisingly high acidity for a wine of such great fruit and richness. Beautiful black raspberry, black cherry, earth, licorice, pepper, and incense aromas are followed by an opulent, rich, fleshy, vibrant, well-delineated wine that should drink well for at least 7-8 years. (07/2011) 93 points Vinous: "Saturated violet. Explosive, wild aromas of blackberry liqueur, cassis, licorice root and espresso.
