Wine Enthusiast: " Squeaky fresh grapefruit and lemon flavors abound in this dry, light-bodied Riesling. It's zesty and easy drinking with hints of spice and crushed stone lending interest to the midpalate. Enjoy now through 2021. (ALI)" (02/2019)

2017 Wittmann "Estate" Riesling trocken (dry) Rheinhessen

93 points James Suckling: "Wittmann's 2017 basic estate riesling tastes better than some single-vineyard wines! Delicate peach, quince and citrus notes, but also plenty of herbal and mineral character. From biodynamically grown grapes. Screw cap in some markets. " (09/2018) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sunny yellow-apple and pear flavors are ripe and supple yet pertly balanced in this dry Riesling. It's approachable and refreshing yet elegant, finishing quite long on a lingering tang of crushed mineral. (AI)" (04/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "A cha ...

2015 Georg Albrecht Schneider Dornfelder, Rheinhessen

Importer's notes: "The varietal Dornfelder is a new German varietal, dating from 1955, and is a cross between Helfensteiner & Heroldrebe. Not only the skins, but also the juice is red, so it is possible to make a dark-colored red wine without blending. It is produced very traditionally, i.e. carefully selected ripe & healthy fruit, undergoing mash fermentation, and is matured in old oak for at least 10 months."

2016 Strub "Flächenhal" Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Spätlese Rheinhessen

92 points James Suckling: "This is a pretty cool cucumber! A serious wine that isn't loud or dramatic, but has plenty of depth and a lot of deliciacy at the off-dry finish. Where is the shrimp tempura? Drink now. " (09/2017) 91 points Vinous: "Smoky black tea, bacon, cress and wintergreen mingle with pear and lime in an aromatic display whose diversity anticipates what follows on a lush yet buoyant, unapologetically sweet yet animatingly juicy palate. The lusciously lingering finish cools, nips and milks the salivary glands. Based on this bottling’s cu ...

2016 Strub Niersteiner Paterburg Riesling Spatlese Rheinhessen

90 points Vinous: "The Strubs continue to adorn the label of this wine with three stars, though nowadays they offer only a single sweet Spätlese from the Paterberg (so you may see this same wine referred to elsewhere as simply “Paterberg Spätlese”). On the nose, lemon, Persian melon, cress and mint anticipate the dynamic of this wine’s silken palate, juxtaposing animating brightness and incisive cut with luscious ripeness and cooling caress. Sweetness here is more obvious than in this year’s other Strub offerings, but that fits the wine’s personality, an ...

2017 Wagner-Stempel Rosé Trocken Rheinhessen (Previously $17)

The estate dates back to 1845 and is currently in its 9th generation. In the early '90s Daniel Wagner decided to build on the tradition of classic wine production and restore the previously famed vineyard sites Höllberg and Heerkretz (ripens two week later) to their former glory. Restoring is an understatement. More meticulous and well-groomed vineyards can seldom be found! They are planted 50% to Riesling but there are also significant plantings to Pinot Blanc and Silvaner and 14% to red varietals such as Pinot Noir and St. Laurent. The estate produces ...
