2016 Fratelli Barale "Serraboella" Barbaresco
Top Pick!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rose, wild berry and leather aromas mingle with menthol and a whiff of truffle. The firmly structured, focused palate delivers ripe Marasca cherry, star anise and game alongside taut, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Best 2022-2028. (KO)" (10/2019) 93 points Vinous: "Barale's 2016 Barbaresco Serraboella is gorgeous. Rich, translucent and super-expressive, the 2016 has so much to offer. Macerated cherry, plum, lavender, spice, sage and new leather are all vibrant in the glass. Medium in body and plaint, the 2016 is a ...

95 points James Suckling: "Wow. What a nose of pure blueberries, rose petals, lavender, crushed minerals, elderflower and so much vivid orange and candied citrus peel. Full body, electric acidity, firm and wonderfully polished tannins and a long, mineral finish. Drink in 2021." (07/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This opens with aromas of ripe berry, crushed herb, scorched soil and dark culinary spice. Mirroring the nose, the firm full-bodied palate evokes juicy Marasca cherry, black raspberry, star anise and clove. Taut, tightly knit and noble tanni...

2013 Bersano "Mantico" Barbaresco
Top Pick!
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Subtle aromas of leafy underbrush, leather, truffle and red berry come together on this while the full-bodied palate delivers juicy red cherry, raspberry compote, baking spice and grilled herb. Chewy tannins provide the framework while a note of star anise closes the finish. (KO)" (10/2016) 90 points James Suckling: "This shows delicate aromas of rosemary with red licorice and dried berries. This is delicate and light-bodied with almost no tannins, good freshness and a nice, fruity finish. Really enjoyable." (11/2016)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Intense aromas of rose, woodland berry, dark spice and an earthy whiff of new leather are some of the aromas you'll find on this fragrant full-bodied red. Boasting ripe fruit and energy, the polished, structured palate doles out juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry, star anise and white pepper. Firm refined tannins and fresh acidity provide an age-worthy structure. Drink 2022–2035. *Cellar Selection* (KO)" (02/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "Fresh raspberries, citrus, nutmeg and rose petals. The palate is very nicely polishe...

95 points Vinous: "95+ points: The 2016 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is dark, dense, powerful and super expressive. Black cherry, mocha, leather, licorice and menthol are some of the many notes that take shape in a Barbaresco that is bursting with energy. Chalk, orange peel, dried flowers and mint add layers of nuance as the wine opens up in the glass. This brooding, potent Barbaresco needs time to be at its best, but it is clearly a great wine in the making.(AG)" (11/2019)

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Full-bodied and focused, this gorgeous wine opens with enticing scents of dark-skinned berry, pipe tobacco, truffle, new leather and a whiff of camphor. Savory and structured, the palate presents succulent red cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and baking spice accompanied by firm fine-grained tannins. It's well balanced, with fresh acidity. (KO)" (02/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "This is a pretty Barbaresco with blueberries, incense, tar and rose petals. Medium to full body, lovely acidity drive and a medium-long finish...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Beautiful aromas of fragrant blue flower, rose, perfumed berry and dark spice form the nose. Juicy and elegantly structured, the savory focused palate doles out ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, licorice and a hint of tobacco. Taut polished tannins provide the framework while fresh acidity lends balance. Drink 2022–2035. (KO)" (02/2019) 93 points James Suckling: "The aromas of lavender, bay leaf, violets and citrus suggest, from the outset, that this is a serious wine. The smooth-edged tannins are very polished and do we...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Cellar Selection: Aromas of game, new leather, humid forest floor and ripe berry mingle with whiffs suggesting cake spice and violet. The juicy, earthy palate is savory and loaded with personality, doling out fleshy Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and a salty mineral note. Tightly woven but polished tannins and fresh acidity provide the framework, while a licorice note lingers on the close. (KO)" (09/2019) 92 points Vinous: "La Ca' Nova's 2016 Barbaresco is a jewel of a wine. Powerful and yet wonderfully translu...

94 points Vinous: "Castello di Verduno's 2015 Barbaresco is a potent wine. A swath of tannins enshrouds this powerful, structured Barbaresco. Crushed flowers, sweet tobacco, rose petal, dried cherry and mint are all suggestive of a wine that is a touch forward, and yet there is so much fruit and tannin here to make me think the 2015 will drink well for a number of years. The 2015 is a super-classic, expressive Barbaresco endowed with real personality and class. It is also one of the very best wines I have tasted from the estate in some time. (AG)" (10/20...

96 points James Suckling: "This is all about finesse with power. Such great length here with ever so refined tannins and precise strawberry, cedar, dried-rose and mineral character. Medium body. Fresh and vivid finish. " (11/2019) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted this wine over two sittings, one at the winery and one at my home office a few weeks later. Although I can't claim any extraordinary differences between the two sessions, I noticed a few minimal shifts that are essential to understanding the wine's future aging ability. The 2...

94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barbaresco Montestefano is a striking wine. Bdlood orange, rosewater, mint, kirsch and exotic spice notes abound in a pliant, deeply expressive Barbaresco. Hints of French oak add nuance without overpowering the wine. Translucent, detailed and finessed, the Montestefano is a winner. The track record here is short, but the 2014 Barbaresco Montestefano is Silvia Rivella's most complete Barbaresco to date. (AG)" (10/2017)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of new leather, ripe plum, vanilla and mocha mix with the barest hint of nail polish. The aromas carry over to the full-bodied palate along with juicy black cherry and licorice. It boasts body and flavor. K.O. " (09/2019) 93 points Decanter: "These vines were planted in Treiso in 1975 and the wine has shown exceptionally well in recent vintages. Since this vintage the farming has been organic. The raspberry aromas are muted, but are still stylish. Sleek and rich, it has appealing concentration and fleshiness, and it's...

98 points Decanter: "Supremely elegant and poised, with a combed-back sleekness and grace. Crushed raspberry is at the centre of a deeper and darker palate of sweet black cherry, juniper berries and wild mint. Great precision and an underlying structure supports and gives amplitude to a glossy, fine finish like polished mahogany. (RL)" 97 points James Suckling: "The perfumes are fabulous here with strawberry, walnut and porcini mushrooms. Mountain herbs. Full body, tight and integrated tannins and a long finish. Refined and beautiful. Hard not to drink ...

2016 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Barbaresco is a tight and beautiful wine that will require more time to unwind and soften. This beautifully balanced vintage is characterized by a tight inner core of fruit that underlines the graceful aging capacity of these wines. The 2016 is shaping up to be one destined for long cellar aging. Now in its youth, the wine offers wild berry, rose and licorice aromas. (ML)" (06/2019) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Enticing aromas of violet, woodland berry, loose vineyard soil, wild mint and a hint of spear...

93 points Vinous: "The 2015 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is powerful, but not austere as it can be. Readers will find an earthy, savory Barbaresco with tons of old-school tannin and plenty of personality. The warm vintage has made the Montefico a bit more friendly in the early going than is typically the case. Rose petal, lavender and chalk notes all develop with time. Beams of Montefico tannin give the wine its energy and overall shape. Drink 2020-2035. (AG)" (10/2018)

"Bruno and Danilo Nada continue to turn out some of the most compelling wines in Barbaresco." -- Antonio Galloni in Vinous. (10/2017)
Price: $29.99

94 points James Suckling: "Dried-strawberry and watermelon aromas follow through to a medium to full body, firm and polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows focus and intensity. Drink after 2021. JS" (06/2019)

94 points James Suckling: "The balance and beauty to this wine are so impressive. Berry, cherry and blackberry aromas follow through to medium body, fresh acidity and fine tannins. I love this Barbaresco from the ex-winemaker from Gaja. Gorgeous. It's all about harmony. " (10/2017) Vinous: "The 2015 Barbaresco is pretty, accessible and very delicious. Crushed flowers, mint, and sweet red berries all lift from the glass in this understated, classy Barbaresco from Guido and Silvia Rivella. Silky tannins and a mid-weight structure give the 2015 much of it...

92 points Vinous: "Rivella's 2014 Barbaresco is gracious, silky and very pretty. A wine of perfume and bright fruit, the 2014 speaks to balance above all else. The 2014 possesses compelling inner sweetness and tons of finesse, all in a mid-weight style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, wild flowers and mint add an attractive upper register as the wine opens up. In 2014, Rivella's Barbaresco is all class. (AG)" (10/2017)

2016 Nada Fiorenzo "Rombone" Barbaresco (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
96 points Vinous: "The 2016 Barbaresco Rombone is the most finessed Rombone I have tasted in twenty years of visiting the property. A reduction of time in barrique in favor of cask seems to release the wine's aromatic intensity while giving a more elegant, mid-weight Rombone with less overt unctuousness and much more Nebbiolo character. Kirsch, blood orange, mint, chalk and sage are some of the many notes that inform this utterly beguiling, alluring Barbaresco. In short, this is what Treiso is all about. What a wine! (AG)" (11/2019)

2016 Orlando Abrigo "Meruzzano" Barbaresco (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points James Suckling: "Here’s a very opulent but tuned-in Barbaresco. It packs in a plethora of dried blackberries, tar and creme caramel into a surprisingly balanced nose. Very, very powerful on the palate, which is saturated in dark plums and ripe, chewy tannins. It might be too assertive for some, but this will soften and delight, if you give it time in the bottle to mature. " (08/2019) 94 points Vinous: "Abrigo's 2016 Barbaresco Meruzzano is a rich, heady wine. Smoke, tobacco, leather, licorice, dried herbs, menthol and melted road tar give the...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of rose petal, red berry and underbrush lead the nose. The juicy balanced palate evokes raspberry jam, red cherry, star anise and white pepper alongside fine-grained tannins and firm acidity. Drink 2020–2029. (KO)" (12/2018)

2015 Nada Fiorenzo "Montaribaldi" Barbaresco (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Vinous: "The 2015 Barbaresco Montaribaldi is fabulous. Bright, fresh and beautifully delineated, the Montaribaldi is endowed with terrific energy that balances the natural richness of the year. Chalk, crushed rocks, orange peel and mint all add to a sensation of brightness that runs through the wine. The long, nuanced finish is nicely supported by beams of salinity. What a gorgeous wine this is. (AG)" (10/2018) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This is full of earth, licorice, leather and sweet spice notes, with a distinct anise seed flavor at the c...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Forest floor, new leather, rose and red-berry aromas mingle with a whiff of camphor. Youthfully austere, the taut palate shows serious aging potential, presenting juicy cherry, cranberry, star anise and orange slice set against tightly knit, noble tannins and firm acidity. Drink 2022–2034. *Cellar Selection* (KO)" (06/2019) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà shows excellent textural richness with dark fruit, followed by notes of tobacco and tilled earth. Black truffle and dried fruit...

2015 Guido Rivella "Fausoni" Barbaresco (Previously $70) (Previously $70)
Top Pick!
92 points Vinous: "Rivella's 2015 Barbaresco Fausoni offers terrific depth and nuance, but in the understated style that is typical of the 2015s here. Sweet tobacco, dried cherry, anise, mint, orange peel and exotic spice all fill out in this very pretty and expressive Barbaresco. The Fausoni is the most expressive of the 2015s in this lineup. The typically firm Fausoni tannins need time to soften a bit, but the 2015 will likely always be somewhat edgy, as Barbarescos from this site tend to be. (AG)" (10/2018)

94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Barbaresco Manzola is a brilliant wine. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, chalk and white pepper all pulse through the 2016. A Barbaresco of energy and tension, the 2016 is a bit nervous in feel, and yet it also has terrific depth, not to mention exceptional balance. The 2016 is one of the finest Manzolas I can remember tasting. In this range, the Manzola is distinguished by its saline minerality and drive. (AG)" (11/2019)

94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Barbaresco Montaribaldi is generous and ample in the glass. Spice, leather, smoke, licorice and dried flowers are some of the many notes that develop in this gorgeous, enveloping Barbaresco. At this stage, the Montaribaldi is the most reticent of the Nada Barbarescos, but its pedigree and potential are both evident. Black cherry, tobacco, spice, leather and scorched earth, along with broad swaths of tannin, add gravitas to this powerful, virile Barbaresco. (AG)" (11/2019)

Drink from 2024." (08/2019) 94 points Vinous: "Abrigo's 2016 Barbaresco Meruzzano is a rich, heady wine. Smoke, tobacco, leather, licorice, dried herbs, menthol and melted r...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barabresco opens to beautiful aromas of forest floor, white truffle and cola. All the fruit from Produttori del Barbaresco's single-vineyard wines are packed into this one base Barbaresco. The wine is sharp and focused and, although it does not have the soft generosity of 2009 or 2011, this is a wine of enormous elegance. I did not find the mouthfeel to be exceedingly thin. In fact, I noted the persistence, freshness and liveliness of the finish. (ML) 93+" (06/2015) 92 points James Suckling: "Beautiful...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rose petal, iris, dark-skinned berry and spice aromas mingle with balsamic notes of camphor on this fragrant, stunning red. Elegantly structured, the precise palate evokes cranberry, Marasca cherry, star anise and thyme set against tightly knit but refined tannins and bright acidity. It's a quintessential Barbaresco, with fantastic tension. *Editor's Choice* (KO)" (09/2019) 94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Barbaresco Angelo, the estate's top bottling, is a blend of 50% Ronchi, 25% Montersino and 25% Loreto, done entirely in cask....

94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Barbaresco is a stunning wine with tremendous richness for this bottling. Ample, deep and powerful, the 2016 exudes pedigree and class from start to finish. I can't remember a straight Barbaresco here with this much fruit density and unctuous richness, and yet there is more than enough tannin and overall structure to give the wine its classically leaning feel. A blast of sweet red cherry fruit, tobacco, menthol licorice and smoke hits the potent finish. What a wine! (AG)" (11/2019) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is off...

95 points Vinous: "The 2015 Barbaresco Montestefano is a glorious wine that captures Rivella's style at its best. Deep, fresh and full of energy, the 2015 shows a refined side of this highly regarded Barbaresco site, with soft edges that give the wine tremendous raciness as well as immediacy. This is a positively stellar, captivating wine from Guido Rivella AG" (11/2019) Jancis Robinson: "Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Slightly stalky yet sweet nose with a hint of vanilla. Sweet cherry with hints of vanilla on the palate and wit...

95 points James Suckling: "Very perfumed and pretty with cherry, dried fruit and orange peel. Hints of sandalwood, too. Full body, layered and refined. Smoke, tar and spice aftertaste to the fruit. Drink in 2019." (10/2017) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Macerated cherry, plum, mineral and leafy, herbal notes highlight this tightly wound red. Elegant, with silkiness up front and assertive tannins guarding the finish. Gains complexity with air. Best from 2022 through 2040. (BS)" (06/2018) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In 2013, the father and d...

94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is soft, pliant and enveloping. In many vintages, the Pora can be a bit light. Not in 2013. The wine is rich and deeply textured, with layers of fruit that continue to build with time in the glass. The tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. This is an especially powerful, brooding edition of the Pora. Although impressive today, the 2013 will drink well for decades to come." (10/2017) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is offered as a complete case in ori...

Bid on this bottle of 1975 Marchese Prioli Barbaresco.
Starting Bid: $30.00

Bid on this bottle of 1970 Gaja Barbaresco. This Barbaresco is from the region's earlier beginnings as a serious red wine appellation. For the most part, Barbaresco was pretty much living in near total obscurity until the 1960s, when Giovanni Gaja (Angelo's father) began proving what could come of these vineyards. In the '70s, his son Angelo introduced single-vineyard offerings, and the rest is Italian wine history!
Starting Bid: $120.00

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Forest floor, red-skinned berry, leather and tobacco aromas mingle with a balsamic note. The focused, structured palate delivers juicy Morello cherry, raspberry compote and licorice while a graphite note backs up the finish. A backbone of fine-grained tannins and bright acidity gives it an age-worthy structure. Drink 2021–2034. (KO)" (06/2019) 95 points Vinous: "One of the many highlights in this range, the Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is superb. A big enrobing wine, the Montestefano wraps around the palate with stunning ...

96 points Vinous: "The Produttori's 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is all power, tension and nerve. Even so, the 2013 is remarkably civilized and much less austere than young Ovello Barbarescos usually are. Scents of cranberry, white pepper and mint give the wine its signature high-toned aromatics. The Ovello has a Volnay-like purity to its fruit, with Nebbiolo tannins and structure, of course. If that sounds appealing, well, it is. Vivid, sculpted and impossibly beautiful, the Ovello is simply magnificent. (AG)" (10/2017) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Th...
