95 points John Gilman: "The Clos Rognet is a warmer microclimate and Jean-Nicolas judiciously decided to start picking here first in 2018 and the wine has turned out brilliantly as a result! This is ripe, but oh, so precise and pure at the same time, with the nose soaring from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, black raspberries, roasted meats, a nice touch of Corton spice, beautiful minerality, French roast, coriander seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and powerful in personality, with stunning purity on the attack, a sappy...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Marked by kirsch, spice and underbrush notes, this red is intense and solidly built, with concentrated cherry and berry fruit. Juicy midpalate, leading to long, chalky finish. A bit awkward today, but shows promise. " (03/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The pure, pretty and restrained aromas of essence of wild red currant are redolent with plenty of the classic earth and sauvage characters of a classic Corton that are set off by prominent wood and menthol. There is a beguiling freshness and sense of energy to t...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Jadot produced three Cortons in 1990. The Corton-Pougets is a backward yet spectacular wine. This is a specialty of the house and is often among the finest red wines from the Corton appellation. The 1990 is a huge, massive, monster of a wine, with extraordinary richness, a viscous texture, and astonishing chewiness in its glycerin-dominated, high alcohol, tannic finish. (RP)" (12/1992) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe and now mostly secondary nose of earth, spice, leather and hints of animale lead t...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is quite densely fruited with an unusually expressive mélange of violet, plum, red and black currant, tea and plenty of earth elements. There is very fine volume and plenty of power to the reasonably well-detailed and muscular flavors that delivers outstanding length on the youthfully austere and saline suffused finish. While I envision that markedly more depth will develop there is enough underlying material present that if it does then my predicted score may very well be too conservative as this is very good. ...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and sturdy, boasting cherry, raspberry, earth and spice flavors. Vivid acidity and tannins provide structure, allowing the finish to persist, with fruit, spice and earth notes. Remains fresh and lively throughout. Best from 2019 through 2032. (BS)" (05/2017) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A highly complex if quite restrained nose grudgingly exhibits notes of red currant, spice, smoke, earth and the sauvage. There is excellent power and plenty of punch to the broad-shouldered and reasonably concentrated flavors th...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A subtle touch of wood frames a truly lovely nose of spicy, cool and densely fruited and layered red pinot fruit that features notes of plum, menthol and warm earth tones that are also picked up by the rich, round and beautifully detailed if not especially concentrated middle weight flavors that culminate in a solidly long and mildly tangy finish." (01/2010) Jancis Robinson: "Lifted strawberry fruit. Only in burgundy ... then a lovely fresh tingling sensation on the palate. Bright and pure with the oak a little marked on the...

95 points James Suckling: "This has attractive notes of wet chalk with bread dough and a swathe of ripe peaches. Nuances of citrus, too. The palate has great weight and depth with a very assertive, long and seamless drive. Classic Corton power here. Wow! Drink or hold." (01/2019) 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Generous but not dominant wood sets off the cool yet ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of lychee, melon, freshly sliced green apple, floral and lemon rind. The larger-scaled flavors are succulent to the point of opulence thanks to the abunda...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As is often the case this is the best wine in the range with its slightly riper liqueur-like nose that features notes of kirsch, violet, plum, smoked game and a lovely floral nuance. The mouth feel of the big but not really imposing flavors is quite sophisticated thanks to the firm but fine tannic spine that shapes the mouth coating, saline and lingering finish. This is a wine of contrasts as the backend is at once slightly austere yet naturally sweet. Note that while this should more than amply reward 12 to 15 years...

93-96 points Wine Spectator: "No tasting note given." (04/2020) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Le Corton Grand Cru is a particular success, revealing lovely aromas of orange rind, peonies, wild berries, grilled game and earthy forest floor. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegant and precise, with good concentration and a long, mineral finish. Weber opted to ferment the old-vine fruit from this climat with some 20% whole cluster. (WK)" (01/2020) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Le Corton Grand Cru comes from an east-fa...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "* Burghound Outstanding Top Value!!* Here the slightly more expressive nose is both ripe yet cool with its ultra-fresh nose that is composed by pure essence of red cherry where additional aromatic latitude is present in the form of earth, spice, violet and a hint of game. I very much like the intensity and mid-palate density to the tautly muscular but not really rustic middle weight plus flavors that display a touch of salinity on the dusty, balanced an impressively persistent finish where an unusual amount of spice ...

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a hint of herbaceousness to the otherwise fresh and ripe red Pinot fruit, spice and earth elements that actually adds breadth. The broad-shouldered, concentrated and punchy medium weight plus flavors possess fine size and weight along with a certain muscularity on the extract-rich finish. In typical Fournières fashion, this is a robust and rustic effort with mouth coating tannins and as such it will require extended cellaring." (04/2013)
Price: $79.99

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also very Pinot but in this case the earth and sauvage characters are more pronounced. The textured and very rich medium-bodied flavors possess an abundance of palate coating dry extract that imparts a sappy mouth feel to the focused, powerful and muscular finish that displays only moderate rusticity. This is a relatively big but impeccably well-balanced effort that should age well yet drink well after 5 or so years. This too is recommended. *Outstanding, Top Value* " (02/2014) 89-91 points Robert Parker's ...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Intense, laced with cherry, sandalwood, green olive and mineral flavors. Fluid in profile and backed by a firm structure, this builds to a long, spice- and mineral-tinged aftertaste. (BS)" (05/2016) 91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly more complex and almost as elegant array of floral, earth, spice and both red and dark currant aromas precedes the big-bodied, powerful and muscular flavors that possess an attractively textured mouth feel. The well-balanced, intense and palate coating finish delivers fine depth and...

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Now sourced from the vines planted ten years ago, since half of the vineyard was pulled up in 2012/2013, the 2014 Aloxe Corton 1er Cru Vercots offers lovely raspberry and strawberry fruit on the nose, showing more density than the Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin. This is nicely structured, focused and tensile with a brisk and minerally finish that completes an excellent Aloxe-Corton. (NM)" (12/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Flavors of vanilla and baking spices form a tight weave ...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Fournières, matured in one-third new oak, has a harmonious and quite sensual bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit, fine undergrowth, almost moss-like aromas that lend this real character while maintaining delineation. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, smooth in texture with orange pith and saline notes infusing the vibrant red fruit that support a long and tender finish. This is another impressive wine from Tollot-Beaut, and one of the finest wines th...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A brooding and very somber nose of both red and dark currants is liberally laced with both earth and game hints. There is more volume and excellent mid-palate concentration to the broad-shouldered flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the very round, delicious and moderately firm finish. I was quite surprised at how forward this was and while there is excellent persistence it is decidedly less structured and austere than usual. *Outstanding Value* " (04/2014) 91 points Vinous: "A more ethereal style of A...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A surprisingly high-toned but notably more densely fruited nose displays notes of Maraschino cherry, violets and plum though there are some earth and game influences present. The rich, concentrated and serious medium weight plus flavors possess an attractively textured if overtly muscular mouth feel, all wrapped in a palate coating, complex and wonderfully persistent finale. I very much like this though note that it's a classic Aloxe of robust power and the structure to go with it. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding*" (01/2016...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A much fresher and more complex array of red currant, plum, violet, spice and leather aromas precedes sleek and unusually refined medium weight flavors that offer both good minerality and delineation if slightly less concentration on the attractively textured and markedly firm finish. This is really quite good and certainly built-to-age." (04/2019) 93 points James Suckling: "Very floral and aromatic with strawberry, candied-raspberry and citrus character. Medium-bodied, tight and lightly chewy with a linear pers...

96 points James Suckling: "This has beautiful purity with striking aromas of lemons and limes, as well as fresh yellow grapefruit and a strong, wet-stone edge. The palate has immense power with precision and focus, delivering a long and regal finish with such power and length. Three hectares in Corton with 1.8 planted to white grapes." (01/2019) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is excellent, displaying a lovely bouquet of lemon oil, white flowers, crushed chalk and a discre...

94-95 points James Suckling: "A linear and tight Corton-Charlemagne with a sliced-apple, lemon and dried-mango character. Full-bodied, compact and racy. Needs two or three years of bottle age." (02/2018) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This shows reserved power, with vibrant acidity driving the lemon, apple, oak spice and stone flavors. Delivers fine balance and energy, revealing a lingering aftertaste of lemon and mineral. (BS)" (05/2020) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This walled vineyard, the clos, has produced a broad, ripe wine, dense with fruitiness an...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Very generous wood stops just short of dominating the underlying red and dark berry fruit that is liberally laced with pretty floral influences. The very rich and vibrant velvet-textured medium-bodied flavors possess both evident power and muscularity that delivers fine length on the balanced finish. Like the Epenots, this is not super-dense and it's frankly a bit woody for my taste but the depth and persistence are impressive." (04/2019) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru is 100% whole clu...

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Once again reduction and sulfur mask the underlying fruit at present. Rich, full-bodied, concentrated and almost painfully intense flavors brim with both dry extract and evident minerality while delivering huge length on the youthfully austere finish that goes on and on. This muscular effort is terrific but be aware that this is definitely going to need time. *Don't miss!*" (06/2018) 94 points Vinous: "Pale, bright yellow. Subtle floral lift to the aromas of lemon, lime, menthol and chalky minerality. Dense, tactil...

94 points Decanter: "Bouchard Père's Corton-Charlemagne hails from a cool, east-facing site on yellow marls soils in Aloxe-Corton and is one of the last parcels to be picked. Fermented in 20% new wood, it's still a pretty rich Grand Cru white, with breadth, texture and a drizzle of honey, but there's also plenty of balancing acidity, sap and minerality. Appealing stuff. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from 3.9 hectares of east-facing vines at 350m altitude. It has an attractive if not quite an exciting ...

95 points Decanter: "Bouchard have some of the biggest holdings of Corton-Charlemagne, at 3.9ha, all of them east-facing and high on the slope. This is perfumed and intense, with citrus rind and tangerine notes, chalky freshness and old-vine concentration. The oak is assertive but well integrated. (TA)" (10/2018) 94 points James Suckling: "Super chalky with restrained notes of stones and minerals, as well as orange and clementine aromas and lightly spiced bread dough, in attractive mode. The palate has a smoothly layered and very approachable feel with...

95 points Decanter: "Olivier Leflaive may be focused on Puligny-Montrachet, but he makes impressive white wines all over Burgundy, typified by the quality of this Corton-Charlemagne. Combining fruit from three parcels, one each in Aloxe-Corton, Pernand and Ladoix, it's suitably plush and glossy with toasty 25% new wood and racy balancing acidity. (TA)" (10/2018) K&L Notes: 93-97 points, Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "All bought in as grapes, 9 barrels from three suppliers, one each from the three villages that make up Corton-Charlemagne. All now assem...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rapet has produced his finest white since 2014. The wine opens in the glass with a classy nose of ripe lemons, green apple, white flowers and crushed chalk, framed by subtle hints of oatmeal and beeswax. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with excellent concentration and broad shoulders, but also promising structural tension and reserve. The long, chalky finish is penetrating and intense. This is well worth seeking out. (WK)" (01/2019) 94 points Allen ...

92-94 points Vinous: "Pale yellow. Subtly sexy nose combines ripe stone fruits, menthol, nuts and minerals, plus a hint of pastry. Suave and silky on entry, then broad on the middle palate, with its inviting touch of sweetness nicely buffered by terroir-driven minerality. The wine's strong yellow peach, licorice and pistachio flavors are lifted by notes of lime and stone. This very distinctive, youthfully laid-back wine boasts lovely depth and length as well as a bracing Pernand-side aspect. (ST)" (09/2018) 91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An u...

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood and menthol influences frame the intensely earthy and gamy aromas of both red and dark currant. There is excellent energy to the stony medium weight plus flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful where the latter carries over to the serious, firmly structured and mildly warm finish that goes on and on. This somewhat rustic effort is very Corton in basic character and a wine that's going to require patience. *Don't Miss!*" (01/2020) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of wild b...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A moderately oaked nose is comprised by an exuberantly spicy array of plum, cassis, earth and evident sauvage nuances. The impressively rich and seductively textured broad-shouldered flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a balanced, long and highly complex finish. I very much like the way this fans out on the strikingly persistent finish. In short, this is outstanding." (01/2019) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2017 Clos Rognet chez Méo is a step up in depth and grand cru structural convicti...

96 points Decanter: "Anyone who feared that quality would drop after a change of ownership at this historic domaine will be happy to know that this grand cru white is as good as ever. Blending components from three different terroirs and altitudes, it's an elegant, textured, saline white of incredible precision and understated power, with subtle toasty oak and undertones of jasmine and lemongrass. Drinking window 2021-2029. (TA)" (10/2018) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is showing superbly from bottle, w...

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine de Montille Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru ((92-94BH), 94VN, (89-91RP)). Vinous: "Bright yellow. Very ripe aromas of lemon oil, grilled nuts, toasted bread and brown spices. Fat, rich and very ripe, with mineral and spice flavors accented by lemon zest, lime and lavender. This initially struck me as weightier and less classic than the 2015, but the wine's strong spine of stony acidity gives it terrific penetration and really frames and extends the fruit on the long finish. Still, this big, smooth wine is showing beautifully today. Winemaker Sieve notes that the south/southeast exposition of the vines gives this wine a crunchy fruit character along with considerable weight. (ST)" (09/2016)

Starting Bid: $110.00

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Touches of wood and menthol can be found on the brooding and inexpressive nose of plum, dark cherry liqueur, freshly turned earth and a gamy note. There is an appealing sense of underlying tension to the concentrated big-bodied flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract while exhibiting excellent length on the balanced and very firmly structured finale. Patience strongly advised. *Sweet Spot*" (01/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley is anoth...

96 points Decanter: "The Faiveley holdings add up to 0.87ha on variety of soil types and altitudes, but they are all comparatively cool. This was picked late as a result on September 4th and marries richness, weight and honeyed complexity with vibrant, mineral-edged acidity and scented oak. A textbook Corton-Charlemagne from a year that didn't lend itself to classic wines. (TA)" (10/2018) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bursting from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, fresh pear, dried flowers, toasted nuts and fresh pastry, Faiveley's 2...
