2016 Domaine Pichat "Champon's" Côte-Rôtie

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Côte Rôtie Champon's is a beautiful effort that’s all from schist soils and spent two years in 400-liter barrels. Sporting a deeper purple/ruby-colored, notes of black fruits, scorched earth, graphite, and crushed violets, medium to full body, sweet tannins, and tons of upfront charm, it's a high-quality 2016 that can be drunk today or cellared for 10-12 years." (12/2018) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of several parcels on schistous soils, the 2016 Cote Rotie Champon's is firm and tannic, in need of ...

2010 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier "La Belle Helene" Côte-Rôtie(1.5L)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cote Rotie La Belle Helene is perfection. In this vintage, Ogier cut back the barrel aging time from 32 months in largely new oak casks to 18 months. Ogier’s remarkable flexibility depending on vintage conditions and the quality of the fruit is admirable. He thinks this may be the greatest bottle of wine he has ever made, and it’s hard to disagree. An inky/purple color is followed by notes of pen ink, graphite, forest floor, licorice and abundant black and blue fruits. There is little evidence of new oa ...

2015 Remi Niero "Eminance" Côte-Rôtie (Elsewhere $90)

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Côte Rôtie Eminence from Niero is another brilliant 2015 that should be snatched up by readers. A blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier sourced from the Valliere and Coteau de Bassenon lieux-dits, aged in 20% new oak, it has a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, dried flowers, incense, and cured meats. Medium to full-bodied and seamless on the palate, it has an elegant, pure, yet concentrated style that’s going to continue evolving gracefully for 15 years or more." 1985 E. Guigal "La Turque" Côte-Rôtie

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The debut vintage for this wine was especially impressive in view of the fact that the vineyard was so young. The 1985 La Turque's color remains a dark purple, with no signs of amber or lightening. The nose explodes from the glass, revealing scents of jammy black fruits, licorice, lead pencil, and smoke. Sweet, thick, highly concentrated flavors contain enough acidity and soft wood tannin to give the wine a well-focused feel. This prodigiously endowed, rich wine should continue to evolve. 2016 Clos de la Bonnette "Cuvée Prenelle" Côte-Rôtie

Domaine Clos de la Bonnette was purchased in 1992 by wife and husband team, Isabelle Guiller and Henri Montabonnet. Isabelle had her eye on this abandoned vineyard site for many years before they moved forward. The main reason that the site remained unoccupied was because the hillsides were in complete disarray, as many of the stone retaining walls had collapsed over the decades due to neglect. Restoring this property could only be done as a labor of love, not a commercial venture. Isabelle and Henri did most of the restoration themselves, rebuilding the ...

1985 E. Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the all-time great La Moulines, this still youthful and unevolved wine does not have the tannic ferocity of the 1988, or the sheer force and intensity of the 1978, 1976, and 1969, but it represents the epitome of this single-vineyard wine. Everything fits perfectly in this full-bodied, black/purple-colored wine that reveals no garnet or amber at the edge of its color. The nose offers up a formidable array of overripe black raspberries and cherries intertwined with scents of cedar, chocolate, olives, and t ...

2004 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Delicate floral-inflected raspberry and strawberry aromas with a gentle note of musky underbrush. Sweet red fruits are framed and extended by fine, silky tannins. Picks up a subtle floral note on the long aftertaste." (02/2007) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Slightly herbal on the nose, without the great intensity of some vintages, but still having pretty peppered raspberry aromas. This is a bit light in weight, but wonderfully supple, elegant and well-balanced. Finishes long, with silky tan ...

2001 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie

97 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated inky ruby color. Forceful, deeply concentrated nose features remarkably pure aromas of cherry liqueur, fresh blackcurrant, pipe tobacco, truffle, espresso, violet pastille, rose and exotic oak spices. A wine of incredible depth and sweetness, with almost painfully intense dark berry and plum flavors that expand and gain richness as the wine opens in the glass. Sappy and wonderfully long; shows a dense tannic structure but there's so much fruity and spicy intensity that the wine seems downri ...

2016 Delas Freres "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie

94-96 points Vinous: "Bright purple. A hugely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, incense, candied flowers and Asian spices, and suave vanilla and mineral notes build in the glass. Impressively concentrated but lively as well, offering alluringly sweet black raspberry, boysenberry spicecake and violet flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral thrust on the finish, which emphatically echoes the floral and blue fruit notes. (JR)" (06/2018) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Alluring, with warm fruitc ...

2016 Maryline et Christophe Billon "Les Elotins" Côte-Rôtie

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Brilliant stuff, Billon's 2016 Côte Rôtie Les Elotins is a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that spent 22 months in once- and twice-used barrels. Deep, rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has more depth and richness than most in this classic, charming vintage. Saturated purple-colored, with terrific notes of cassis, blackberries, scorched earth, violets, and graphite, it hits the palate with a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, good acidity, and present yet sweet tannins, all of which give it a classic feel. 2016 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine "Domaine des Pierrelles" Côte-Rôtie

92-94 points Vinous: "Dark purple. Powerful, mineral- and smoke-accented blueberry, cola and olive aromas pick up licorice and incense accents with air. Appealingly sweet, palate-staining black and blue fruit and violet pastille flavors deepen steadily on the back half while retaining energy and focus. Smoothly balances richness and finesse, while a vibrant mineral quality adds cut to the impressively long, sweet finish. 94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Not yet bottled, the 2016 Côte Rôtie La Côte Rozier (97% Syrah and 3% Viognier) sports a saturated purple color as well as rocking notes of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed rocks, and liquid violets. It's rich, full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated, with building tannins and beautiful purity. It's a powerhouse that needs 2-4 years of bottle age and will keep for 2+ decades." 94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Similarly colored, the purple-hued 2016 Côte Rôtie La Brocarde incorporates 5% Viognier and comes from the La Brocarde lieu-dit and will see 26 months in new barrels. It offers more blue fruits, violets, and liquid rock characteristics, full body, a deep, stacked mid-palate, and building tannins. It's a primordial barrel sample that's going to require 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for 15-20 years." (12/2018) 93 points Decanter: "From 30-year-old vines, all destemmed. With huge body, massive concentration, silky tannins, sweet glycerin and a layered, multidimensional mouthfeel, it can be drunk now or cellared for 25 years. It has beautiful elegance as well as classic notes of black raspberries, toasted spices, cured meats, and dried flowers. With medium to full-bodied richness, sweet, rounded tannins, and a forward style, it's one sexy, Côte Rôtie to drink over the coming decade or so." (JM)" (02/2019) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Moving to the 2016s and starting with the 2016 Côte Rôtie Ampodium, this beautiful, silky, incredibly elegant wine has classic notes of red and black fruits, spring flowers, hints of bacon fat as well as green olive ...

Bid on this bottle of 2003 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, 99WE, 98WS, (95-96ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Cote Rotie la Landonne continues to blow me away every time I taste it and it's a desert island wine for me. One of the stars of this extreme vintage, it offers sensational levels of fruit and decadence, perfumed, intense aromatics, beautiful freshness and a to-die-for texture and finish. Still youthful, with masses of sweet tannin, it's nevertheless a a heavenly drink today." (09/2015)

2005 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 2005 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, 99WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Cote Rotie la Landonne is utterly profound, and is certainly in the same league as the '10, '09, '03, '99, '90, '89 and other incredible vintages (the list of top vintages here is almost too long to list). Inky colored, structured, tannic, massively concentrated and still with phenomenal texture and richness, it has the classic dark fruits, tapenade and meatiness of the cuvee, but at age 10, is still an infant. It needs 4-5 years and will be a 50+ year wine. (JD)" (09/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 E. Guigal "La Mouline" Côte-Rôtie (96ST, 95RP, 95WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red color. Pungently floral aromas meld smoky red berries, exotic rose petal, dried lavender and magnolia blossom. Dense and extremely sweet, showing an explosive array of red fruit flavors along with exotic floral and sweet tobacco tones and an overlay of smoky bacon and bonfires. A bright mineral tone sharpens the fruit, adding focus and precision to the flavors. The finish builds and deepens but maintains superb elegance and silkiness of texture, finishing on notes of wild red berries and rose oil. (JR)" (01/2006)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, (97-100ST), 98WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For drinking today, it doesn't get better than the 1999 Cote Rotie la Landonne (the '99 la Mouline maybe). A monumental Cote Rotie, it offers an incredible perfume of cassis, licorice, smoked game and roasted herbs (among other things), full-bodied richness, a seamless texture and a finish that just won't quit. While a massive wine, with incredible concentration and density, this beauty is lively, elegant and weightless, with sweet, polished tannin. Perfumed and upfront on this occasion, it was served blind at the end of the retrospective and I actually thought it was the 1990. (JD)" (09/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (97JG, 94ST, 90RP). John Gilman: "I still have a few bottles of the 1991 Gentaz Côte Brune in my cellar and I will not be planning on opening a bottle for at least another five to ten years, as this is a remarkably young wine still at age twenty-two! The young and beautifully complex nose soars from the glass in a magical mélange of cassis, black pepper, smoked meats, stony soil tones, black raspberries and a smoky topnote redolent of bonfires. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a very stony signature of soil, firm, ripe tannins and a very, very long, poised and youthful finish that still shows just a bit of its youthful stemminess. This will ultimately be one of the greatest vintages ever produced by Monsieur Gentaz in his long career, but I would definitely keep it tucked away in the cellar for several more years to come, as there are layers and layers of comp

Bid on this bottle of 1995 E. Guigal "La Turque" Cote Rotie (100RP, 96ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the treats when tasting through the profound Côte Rôties made by Marcel Guigal was the opportunity to taste all of the bottled 1995's. Reviewed in previous issues, they are even better from bottle than they were during their upbringing (a characteristic of many Guigal wines). The 1995 Côte Rôtie la Turque is the stuff of legends and is every bit as compelling as readers might expect. This single vineyard wine will have at least 2 decades of longevity. (RP)" (10/1999)
