1964 Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1964 Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva. Neal Martin writes: "Visiting the enormous, subterranean Campo Viejo winery on the outskirts of Logrono above the Ebro River, one can only be impressed by the size and efficiency of running such a large-scale operation. They own over 300 hectares of their own vineyards, as well as sourcing wine from countless vineyards around Rioja."

1964 Latour, Pauillac (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1964 Latour, Pauillac (1.5L) (96VN, 94JG, 92RP). Vinous: "The 1964 Latour initially feels a little overawed by the openness and opulence of the 1962, a tad reserved and bashful on the nose, the palate missing the same depth and complexity. However, observing the wine over two hours, it simply blossoms in the glass, revealing beguiling autumn leaves, aniseed and cigar box scents on the exquisitely defined nose. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannin, cedar and graphite infusing the black fruit with a classic, regal finish that leaves me in awe. I mention in my previous tasting note that the 1964 can be startling. This is one of the finest examples that I have met. Just do not be afraid to give a 30 minute decant. Tasted from a bottle bought on release and tasted at 'Brat' restaurant in London. (NM)" (08/2018)

1964 Taylor Fladgate "Very Old Single Harvest" Tawny Port (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 1964 Taylor Fladgate "Very Old Single Harvest" Tawny Port (OWC - 95DC, 95RP, 95WE, 93WS, 91W&S) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I allowed my glass of 1964 Taylor’s Very Old Single Harvest Port a couple of hours to open up in the glass, monitoring its evolution along the way. It is not a shy or retiring Port. Clear mahogany in color with a slight green tinge on the rim, the nose races out of the blocks like a young terrier let free in the garden, with intense aromas of grilled walnut, smoke, brown sugar, hints of caramel and a fug of alcohol that ebbs with time. The palate is smooth and honeyed on the entry, a very seductive Port wine, quite sumptuous in style, but with enough volatile lift to maintain fieriness toward the viscous finish. I speculate that had the 1963s not been so prodigious, Taylor Fladgate would have elected to follow their 1960 declaration with a 1964. That is all in the past. It is a delicious Vintage Port firing on all cylind

1964 Certan de May, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 1964 Certan de May, Pomerol. John Gilman: "I have not had a lot of older vintages of Certan de May, but it seems pretty clear to me that the winemaking really started to get exciting here with the 1979 vintage. Older vintages that I have tasted have been fine bottles, but with a bit of horsiness that takes away from the elegance of the post-1978 bottlings. The 1964 is a fine bottle of mature Pomerol in that old-fashioned, slightly rustic style, offering up a complex nose of plums, dark chocolate, saddle leather, a bit of shoe polish, tobacco ash, and roasted venison. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and shows a good amount of mature Pomerol creaminess. The finish is long, but just a touch four-square, with good depth and grip. A fine example of the old-fashioned, simpler days of Pomerol." (07/2007)
