1968 Taylor Fladgate "Very Old Single Harvest" Tawny Port

98 points Wine Spectator: "Pretty gorgeous from the get go, with toasted sesame, green tea, walnut husk, pistachio cream and peanut toffee notes seamlessly layered atop each other, framed by a subtle singed alder hint. Everything glides with grace through the finish, like a gently wafting plume of white smoke off of burning incense. (JM, Web Only-2017)" (10/2017) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of a series of releases by this Port producer, this Colheita, or Port from a single harvest, is beautifully poised between red fruits and mature almond and an o ...

1968 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1968 d'Yquem, Sauternes. Praise from Robert Parker in the Wine Advocate: "Proust, Dumas, Jules Verne even Hannibal Lector in one of his more sanguinary interludes, have all attested to the extraordinary nature of this mellifluous elixir. Yquem can be drunk young, but may outlive your great-grandchildren, a wine, a sui generis with an unparalleled track record of triumphs dating back to the 19th century even the most adverse of vintages. The tendrils of Château d'Yquem are entwined with history, politics and literature, a wine that captures the imagination like no other."

1968 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1968 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 93WS). Vinous: "Medium-deep red with a greenish-amber rim. Highly complex aromas of raspberry, cherry, mocha, dark chocolate, celery seed and balsamic cedar, with a hint of volatile acidity contributing personality and lift. This legendary wine still boasts bulletproof fruit and a compellingly juicy texture, with a sexy hint of truffle adding interest with air. A wine of great class and balance, finishing subtle, fresh, firm and very long, with sweet, fine-grained tannins. André Tchelistcheff called 1968 his greatest vintage and this wine is still going strong a half century later, with no end in sight. Its balance of sweetness and acidity is stunning. This wine was full-bodied in the early going, in contrast to the initially austere '69, according to current winemaker Trevor Durling. (ST)" (04/2019)

1968 Magdelaine, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 1968 Magdelaine, St-Emilion. Acquired in 1952, this beautiful property, immediate neighbor to Ausone, Bélair, and Canon, is at the break of the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, with a dominating view of the plains. It was also, incidently, the last vineyard in the Gironde to be cultivated by a plowhorse! It is the perfect example of a mature, value-packed Bordeaux to bestow upon a birthday friend or relative.
