1975 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

91 points Decanter: "Jean-Michel Cazes’ third vintage, and his records of the harvest note excellent weather conditions almost every day up in Pauillac. Harvest of Merlot began at Lynch Bages on September 25 (it had been expected to start on the 29th until the rains fell) and lasted until October 12th ( a Sunday when Cazes described the fermentations as going ‘very very well’). Only one or two vats needed chaptilisation because natural sugar levels were so high. On the nose, a touch of band aid suggests brett, but this soon clears and the wine is full of ...

1975 Palmer, Margaux

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Palmer has consistently been one of the top wines of the vintage. The color remains a dark ruby with no signs of amber. The wine reveals plenty of sweet fruit in the fragrant bouquet. Although more tannic than most top vintages of Palmer, this is a full-bodied, rich, concentrated wine with the vintage's toughness and high tannin well-displayed. Yet I believe it possesses enough sweet fruit and extract to stand up to the tannin. Shockingly, the most developed bottle of 1975 Palmer I have tasted was from a ...

1975 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (mid to low shoulder fills, some nicked capsules)

95 points James Suckling: "I absolutely love the nose of licorice, minerals, black currants, and berries. Full and slightly hard and acidic, but I could smell it all night. It softens and turns velvety and dusty on the finish with lots of fruit." (01/2011) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine has finally begun to reveal some potential. It has been closed and frightfully tannic for the last decade. The wine exhibits a good dark ruby/garnet color, a sweet nose of cedar, chocolate, cassis, and spices, good ripe fruit and extraction, and a w ...

95 points James Suckling: "I absolutely love the nose of licorice, minerals, black currants, and berries. Full and slightly hard and acidic, but I could smell it all night. It softens and turns velvety and dusty on the finish with lots of fruit." (03/2012) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the blind tasting in December, this wine finally began to reveal some potential. It has been closed and frightfully tannic for the last decade. 1975 Rieussec, Sauternes
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Rieussec, Sauternes (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still remarkably youthful looking, and slow to evolve, this is a powerful, concentrated, and rich Sauternes, with decades of life ahead of it. Lemon, tropical fruit, and vanillin oaky aromas titillate the olfactory glands. Tight, yet rich, full-bodied flavors reveal marvelous balance and richness. It is aging at a snail's pace. Anticipated maturity: Now-2025. (RP)" (01/1998)

1975 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (94JS, 92RP). James Suckling: "This came as a big surprise because I usually associate outstanding bottles of Bordeaux from this vintage with only the Right Bank or Graves. But the 1975 Las Cases is superb. It showed gorgeous aromas of dried berry and tobacco with iodine and shells. It was full body, firm with pleasantly chewy tannins and a chalk, berry and lavender aftertaste. Fresh finish. It's still so beautiful. " (06/2016)

1975 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (91RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Haut-Brion 1975 has been variable in the past, however this is one of the better examples with deep garnet color. The nose is lively with leather and scorched earth scents infusing the dusky black fruit, later a faint touch of terracotta coming through. The palate is well balanced, quite animally and feral for a respectable First Growth, but that is exactly what lends it its charm. There is just some dryness creeping in on the finish, so I would drink bottles over the next ten years or so. (NM)" (07/2016)
