1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac

100 points James Suckling: "What an amazing red. It's so very youthful with toasted oak, light vanilla, and dark berries such as currants and blueberries. Then it turns to mint. This is so fresh and intensely fruity. It lasts for minutes on your palate with each sip. It is so powerful yet elegant. It will improve for hundreds of years. I would still leave it in my cellar for five or ten years. If you need to drink it, decant it three to four hours in advance." (11/2010) 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of ...

1982 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Reserva Rioja

Lopez de Heredia has a well-earned reputation as the stalwart traditionalist of Rioja, along the lines of Mascarello in Barolo, Mayacamas in Napa Valley, or de Montille in Burgundy. What is arguably lost in all the attention paid to traditional winemaking, wine ageing and craft, is that Lopez de Heredia pioneered the single vineyard wine in Rioja, a tradition they still honor with each of their wines. These wines hail from well-sited, glorious individual vineyards. Viña Tondonia Reserva is always the most claret-like, with a sense of reserve and structur ...

1982 Angélus, St-Emilion

Wine Spectator: "Medium-garnet in color, with a ruby center. Pretty floral, berry and dried cherry aromas. Medium-bodied, with tobacco and fruit flavors. (JS)" (11/1998) K&L Notes: A five star vintage, and "A great year for both Pomerol and St.Emilion," according to Decanter. Critics have noted that the 1982 Angélus, however, represents the château's earlier style, before changes in production were made in the mid-1980s.

1982 Haut-Batailley, Pauillac

91 points Wine Spectator: "This is a racy, well-integrated wine; always an outstanding bottle. Dark ruby-colored with a garnet hue. Bubbling over with fresh berry, cherry and currant aromas. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a long silky finish. (JS)" (11/1998) Jancis Robinson: "Deep, with some evolution. Thick, dense and lively. Big, round and bloody. Mouthfilling. Plump and rumbustious." (07/2002)

1982 Cambus 35 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml)

The Cambus distillery is easily one of the best grains out there. The large facility just to the north of the River Forth has been converted to a cooperage and connects to Diageo's massive Blackgrange warehousing facility. That's why it's so tragic Diageo mothballed the distillery in 1993. Its right around 30 years of age that Cambus begins to take on a complexity that made the great old blends (like Johnnie Blue) so well loved across the world. This is absolutely decadent stuff. Grain whisky, which was once written off by aficionados, is becoming more a ...

1982 Mouton-Baronne-Philippe, Pauillac

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Spicy red berries, eucalyptus and camphor on the nose, plus a whiff of old barrel. Then supple and fat, with modest nuance but more ripeness and sweetness than the nose suggests. Finishes with nicely ripe tannins and good persistence. (ST)" (07/2002) Wine Spectator: "Now called Château d'Armailhac, this is a firm Bordeaux, with berry and cherry aromas and flavors, solid tannins and a medium finish. (JS) " (08/1992) Jancis Robinson: "Excellent depth of colour, but already a brick rim. Restrained ...

95 points James Suckling: "This shows intense aromas of mint, lead pencil and currants that follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a finish with tension and freshness. " (10/2012) 94 points Wine Spectator: "This vintage was a modern benchmark for the estate. Intense aromas and flavors of berry, currant, mint and light toasty oak. Full, round and refined, with a long, long finish. Gorgeous. Drinking beautifully. (JS, Web Only-2007)" 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beautifully mature with sweet, sun-drenched black currant, fig ...

1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac

98 points Decanter: "As with the last time I drank this wine two years ago, it is still full of life and energy, with that classic Lafite quality of effortless drinkability. Utterly moreish, it has an amazing cinnamon-edged spice, rich and slightly exotic with brick-red colouring. To recap what we all know to have been a great season, 1982 saw a dry and mild spring, allowing an excellent flowering followed by a dry and hot summer with regular small showers and fresher nights in August. It was an easy harvest that saw an early and large crop, and in the v ...

1982 Margaux, Margaux (very high shoulder, Lightly Bin Soiled label)

100 points Decanter: "Still loaded up with firm tannins, this is a rich, gorgeous wine, with complex, smoky, pencil lead and graphite notes through the mid palate, before things soften to a cigar box and truffled finish. Cabernet Franc 4% rounds out blend. This stands out better than the 1983 today. Owner Corinne Menzelopoulos was at this point just two years in to her tenure at Margaux (and sharing ownership with the Agnelli family). She will not be surprised by this result - as the last time we discussed these wines, she said the 1983 was a standout fo ...

1982 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Very aromatic, inviting nose of redcurrant, leather and tobacco. Intensely flavored and gripping, with a slightly raisiny singed plum character but also solid framing acidity that gives the wine a juicy quality. Quite fat and full. Finishes with superb structure and grip. (ST)" (08/2002) 92 points John Gilman: "Back in this era, it was not uncommon for estates to bottle a vintage over the course of some time, and the ’82 Calon has shown a bit of bot ...

1982 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Red-ruby. Highly aromatic nose of raspberry, redcurrant, graphite, licorice and cedar. Leanish, dry and classic, with firm acidity but less flesh than the '96. Lovely traditionally made claret, with terrific finesse and grip. Still evolving. (ST) 91+ points." (08/2002) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With massive, huge concentration, excruciating tannin, this earthy, meaty St.-Julien has everything, but it needs to be forgotten for at least 10-15 years. 1982 La Mission Haut-Brion, Graves

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the handful of perfect wines of the vintage, the La Mission still possesses a remarkably dense ruby/purple color with only a slight garnet and lightening at the edge. The fruit-dominated aromatics reveal lots of cassis, blueberry, scorched earth, black truffle, incense, graphite and high-class, unsmoked cigar tobacco-like notes. Still exhibiting remarkable concentration, enormous body, silky sweet tannin, and no perceptible acidity, the 1982 remains fresh, delineated and super-compelling...this modern day ...

Still backward with a deep ruby/plum color revealing only a touch of lightening at the edge, the wine offers up an extraordinary nose of caramelized herbs, smoke, cedar, pen ink, black currants, and earth. The tannins are slightly rustic, but the sweetness of the fruit, the broad expansive mouthfeel, and the wine’s full maturity represent a classic Bordeaux at the top of its game. The Merlot levels are a little higher than they are today (it was a favourite grape of her father's), but this flamboyant, fleshy style is exotic in all the right places. In fact it jumps out of the glass, with its caramel-edged sweet black fruits. The aromatics are still full-on wow, the fruits and tannins melded perfectly together. That said, the 1982 is a great wine, no doubt because of the vintage rather than the winemaking at that time. A brilliant effort, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a sweet, flowery bouquet revealing plenty of creme de cassis, plum, and cherry notes, stunning concentration, a boatload of power, sweet tannins (the sweetest and easiest to taste among the St.-Juliens), and a long finish. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1982 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92JG, 90RP, 90VN). John Gilman: "This was served from magnum, where it is still deep, vibrant and very fine. The bouquet is deep, complex and classically Georges de Latour in its beautiful blend of red and black cherries, chocolate, a touch of coconutty oak, gentle cigar smoke and Rutherford dust in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite suave on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, gentle tannins, excellent focus and lovely length and grip on the pure, plush and refined finish. This is probably the last great classic vintage of the Georges de Latour bottling, and at least in magnum, it is drinking very well indeed and has plenty of life still ahead of it. 1982 Veuve Clicquot "Carte Or" Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Veuve Clicquot "Carte Or" Brut Champagne. The anchor, the Christian symbol for hope and rigour, was chosen in 1798 by Philippe Clicquot, the founder of the House, as the cork brand, the only distinguishing mark in the era before labels. As a symbol of hope, the anchor was a perfect emblem for a young entrepreneur with faith in the prosperity of his newly founded business. Madame Clicquot continued to use the same cork brand when she took over the running of the House in 1805. In keeping the anchor emblem throughout the centuries, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin remains faithful to the signs and symbols of its roots.

1982 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (96VN, 95RP, 94WS). Vinous: "Things get back on track quickly with the 1982 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain. Utterly magnificent in the glass, the 1982 graces the palate with a host of distinctly ferrous notes, followed by the essence of red cherry, smoke and underbrush. The 1982 is explosive, structured and intense from the very first taste. It is another wine that is simply dazzling tonight. In a word: superb. " (02/2014)

1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1982 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (100JS, 100RP, 98ST, 98WS, 97DC, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine remains one of the legends of Bordeaux. It has thrown off the backward, youthful style that existed during its first 25 years of life, and over the last 4-5 years has developed such secondary nuances as cedar and spice box. The creme de cassis, underlying floral note, full-bodied power, extraordinary purity, multilayered texture, and finish of over a minute are a showcase for what this Chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still amazingly youthful, vibrant, and pure. It appears capable of remaining fruity and vibrant in 2082! Thank God it is beginning to budge, as I would like to drink most of my supply before I kick the bucket. This is a great, still youthful wine, and, on occasion, one does understand the hierarchy of Bordeaux chateaux when you see the complexity and brilliance of this first-growth. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2050+ (RP)" (

1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (96RP, 93JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1982 is still 5-8 years away from full maturity, but it exhibits a dense ruby/plum/garnet color to the rim as well as a sweet perfume of forest floor, spice box, cedar, and copious quantities of black fruits. Medium to full-bodied and beautifully pure with sweet tannins, this wine has aged more slowly than I initially expected. It is the finest Ducru Beaucaillou produced after the 1961 and before the 2003. (RP)" (06/2009)
