1990 L'Encantada 27 Year Old "Domaine le Parre #18" Tenarèze Armagnac (750ml)

The unusual Domaine Le Parre is the first producer in Tenarèze to be uncovered by the crew at L'Encantada. This is a beautiful little estate situated on a plateau, which boasts boulbène soils and was planted to mostly Baco with a small percentage of Ugni Blanc. The domaine stopped cultivating vines in 1995 and was famous for having a giant barrel fashioned from an old train car. While the domaine's eau-de-vie were top notch, the heavier clay soils resulted in eau-de-vie that need extra time to truly become expressive. But after about 20 years, it's clear ...

1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was served blind a magnum of the 1990 Montrose in Cape Town, which had been purchased on release and stored in perfect conditions. Now, here was the real deal, unfettered by any infection, a regal Saint Estèphe. It shows approximately the same evolution as the 1989 in bottle, but unsurprisingly showed less bricking in magnum format. The bouquet is cut from a different cloth to the 1989 and attests to that warm vintage: hickory, clove, undergrowth and wild fennel, later garrigue-like scents and terracotta, the ...

1990 Port Dundas 28 Year Old "Sovereign" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $100)

Built in 1811, Port Dundas grew throughout the 19th and early 20th century by absorbing neighboring producers. It quickly became Scotland's largest distillery. During its long history on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Glasgow, this grain whisky powerhouse provided much of the juice for the Johnnie Walker and White Horse blended whiskies. With Diageo's expansion and modernization of Cameronbridge in the early 2000s, production at Port Dundas ceased, and in 2011 the landmark site was completely demolished. That closure makes this 28 year old sin ...

1990 Shinshu Mars Komagatake 27 Year Single Malt Japanese Whisky (750ml)

The Mars distillery is very well regarded in Japan and is easily considered the "super third" after the famous Suntory and Nikka distilleries. They don't focus exclusively on traditional single malt and are prone to experiment. They only produce whisky in the winter months so production is very small. The Komagatake is their ultra-rare, four-barrel single malt. Three of the four barrels are from 1988 or earlier, while the fourth is from 1990. Only 1,286 bottles were produced, for which the distillery holds a lottery prior to release. This is the Japanese ...

1990 Clos de Sarpe, St-Emilion

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium to deep brick in color, the 1990 Clos de Sarpe opens with notions of chanterelles, moss-covered tree bark, dusty earth and sandalwood over a core of dried cherries and plums plus a touch of new leather. Softly textured in the full-bodied mouth, the palate displays great richness and depth, with the long, compelling finish revealing a gustatory exercise in mineralogy. (LPB)" (05/2018)

Give it time. (JS)" (08/2000) 93 points John Gilman: "The 1990 Pichon-Lalande is a very fine example of the vintage. The deep, complex and vibrant nose delivers a classy mélange of dark berries, coffee, fresh herb tones, cigar smoke, a fine base of dark soil tones and plenty of smoky, toasty new oak. 1990 Mount Eden Vineyards Santa Cruz Mountains Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Jeb Dunnuck writes: "Located on the warmer, eastern/northern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Mount Eden Vineyards is one of the most historic estates in California. In addition, their wines have one of the longest track records in the region for aging beautifully. Originally planted in 1945, the estate covers roughly 40 acres today and Jeffrey Patterson makes the wines."

1990 Roc de Cambes, Côtes de Bourg

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I have been a big believer in this Cote de Bourg made by the obsessive/compulsive Francois Mitjavile, who is better known for his outstanding small St.-Emilion estate, Le Tertre-Roteboeuf. I initially rated these wines 89 for the 1990 and 88 for the 1989. In this recent tasting I was thrilled to see how well the wines showed. Both are fully mature, yet capable of lasting another 7-8 years. With the price escalation for wines such as Le Tertre-Roteboeuf, I suppose Roc des Cambes will now be known as the 'poor pers ...

1990 Palmer, Margaux

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Château Palmer vertical in London, I confess that maybe I've been harsh towards the 1990 Château Palmer in the past, since it never quite matched the sublime 1989. However, this represents the finest bottle that I have encountered. The nose is complex with red cherries, allspice and sous-bois, tertiary scents developing as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine balance, not the most complex 1990 and not a patch on say Château Margaux 1990, yet there is precision here and a plea ...

1990 Raymond Lafon, Sauternes (375ml)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This small estate continues to turn out remarkably rich, unctuously-textured, thick, powerful wines that brilliantly balance power and intensity with elegance and finesse. Now that the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages have had some time in the bottle, it appears that the light to medium gold colored 1990 may be the most complete and botrysized among this trio of exceptional wines from Raymond-Lafon. All the wines possess a light to medium gold color, with the 1989 revealing a more evolved, deeper color. All three win ...

In the mouth there is superb concentration, a sweet, expansive texture, and a mind-boggling, long finish. This lavishly rich Cote Rotie, which is already delicious, is capable of lasting for 10-15 years. The color remains a healthy dark ruby with a purple hue. The nose offers up lush, sweet, jammy black currant fruit intermixed with aromas of white flowers, spice, and a touch of smoky oak. Medium to full-bodied and fleshy with low acidity, sweet tannin, and an expansive mouthfeel with no hard edges, it is a fully mature 1990 that should drink well for another decade. Bid on this bottle of 1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (100RP, 98JS, 97WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Hermitage La Chapelle lived up to its reputation on this occasion, and of the three titans (1990, 1978 and 1961), it was probably my favorite. Still inky colored and ruby at the rim, it offers an absolutely profound bouquet of sweet cassis, smoked meats, chocolate, licorice and spice. This is followed by a full-bodied, insanely textured, pure and hedonistic palate that has that perfect mix of still-vibrant fruit and ample secondary nuances. I suspect the '61 was even richer at this stage, but the overall purity and freshness here are incredible. It will continue to evolve for decades, but I'd happily open bottles today. At this early stage, it does not appear to be as super-concentrated as Dunn's wines from the early and mid-eighties. It is slightly more tannic. The biggest, richest, fullest-bodied Lynch Bages until the 2000, the fully mature 1990 exhibits an unbelievably explosive nose of black currants, cedarwood, herbs and spice. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Clerc-Milon, Pauillac (94RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 is a benchmark Clerc Milon that put all those years of hurt behind it. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, this is a very different blend to the 1986 due to vineyard acquisitions. It is almost a decade since the 1990 blew me away whilst dining at Mouton in my 'buying' days and by 2013 it has retained that wondrous bouquet of blackberry, kirsch, fresh mint and leather. Frankly speaking, you would not want to put Mouton ’90 anywhere near, to spare the First Growth’s blushes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It has attractive structure and very impressive focus – layers of soy-tinged black fruit, hints of sandalwood and cloves with a suave, vigorous, classically styled finish. Superb! (NM)" (01/2014)

It is full-bodied, majestic and opulent, with low acidity and fabulous fruit. It is close to full maturity. The wine should continue to drink well for at least another 30 or more years, but it is showing secondary nuances in the perfume. The wine is absolutely magnificent, broad, savory and mouth-filling. Its medium ruby color is followed by a perfumed, complex bouquet of sandalwood, cedar, ripe cherries, licorice and Asian spices. Upfront and not holding anything back, it reveals loads of sweet fruit and is incredibly complex and nuanced aromatically. This gives way to a full-bodied, integrated and seamless Pomerol that has resolved tannin, perfect balance, an opulent mouthfeel, and a great finish. I have always had a soft spot for the 1990. It does not disappoint with gorgeous scents of clove, bay leaf, and warm gravel that are almost Pomerol-like in style. The palate is fresh and lively. This 1990 is very well balanced and eschews the warmth of that summer and allows the terroir to shine. It grips the mouth and offers black truffle and sage towards the slightly grainy textured finish that lingers on the palate. What a sublime Cos d’Estournel. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Pichon-Longueville Baron has always been one of my benchmark wines, one that never ceases to perform. Now at 27 years of age, it is clearly at its peak, and what a wondrous thing it is. Now showing some bricking on the rim, the bouquet is utterly sublime, with red berries, cedar, touches of graphite, crushed rose petals and incense. You just want to become enveloped by these aromas. The palate is perfectly balanced, perhaps not as structured as it once showed since the tannins have mellowed, but what you get is a Pauillac relishing its secondary phase, which is almost Burgundy-like in terms of mouthfeel. Suffused with tension, it gains weight in the mouth toward the slightly tart finish. It is a Pichon Baron that only knows how to give sophisticated drinking pleasure. I once wrote that Pichon Baron is better than many 1990 First Growth, and that is a statement I have no reason

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Léoville-Las-Cases, St-Julien (96RP, 94ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As one might expect, this is a brilliant wine, but it remains shockingly young, even for the fast evolving 1990s. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by a classic, nearly restrained set of aromatics that includes notions of sweet black cherries, black currants, lead pencil, and wet stones. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, and while technically low in acidity, there is a freshness, delineation, and classicism in this full-throttle, rich, concentrated, impeccable 1990. While still youthful, it is easy to appreciate despite its substantial tannins. It is not quite as backward as the 1990 Lafite Rothschild or 1990 Latour. Anticipated maturity: now-2035. Harvest lasted 18 September to 3 October, and grapes underwent a serious sorting after uneven ripening (they also did green harvesting). Autumn hedgerow aromatics with hawthorn and blackberries. The palate is soft and gentle, not as intense as the 1989 but still loaded with Pauillac signature. It didn’t get the most positive reaction on release, but this seems unfair at 30 years of age – this wine is still rippling with power. Label artist Francis Bacon, with one of his last works. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This showed better than expected. It has a fine, eucalyptus nose complemented by fruitcake, bar leaf and a touch of cedar…certainly demonstrating more freshness and vigour than the ’91. The palate is medium-bodied with a very fine structure, firm tannins, very youthful. A little more depth than the ‘Roberson’ bottle. 1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (98RP, 94WS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In terms of the brilliant complexity and nobility of the aromatics, scorched earth, black currants, plums, charcoal, cedar, and spices, the 1990 offers an aromatic explosion that is unparalleled. It is always fascinating to taste this wine next to the 1989, which is a monumental effort, but much more backward and denser, without the aromatic complexity of the 1990. The 1990 put on weight after bottling, and is currently rich, full-bodied, opulent, even flamboyant by Haut Brion’s standards. It is an incredible expression of a noble terroir in a top vintage. While it has been fully mature for a number of years, it does not reveal any bricking at the edge, and I suspect it will stay at this level for another 10-15 years ... but why wait? It is irresistible now. (RP)" (06/2009)

1990 Trotanoy, Pomerol
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Trotanoy, Pomerol (95RP, 95WS, 91ST, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasting them side-by-side, it is clear that the 1990 Trotanoy is far superior to the 1989. It has a vibrant, ebullient, vivacious bouquet with blackcurrant pastilles, mulberry and crushed violets that blossom in the glass. The palate is tight at first but it opens up to reveal irresistible, velvety textured dark berry fruit tinged with thyme, mint and a touch of fennel. There is great density to the Trotanoy and certainly it remains youthful after 22 years, reluctantly evolving secondary aromas. This is a might Trotanoy that requires another ten years in the cellar. Tasted September 2012. (NM)" (09/2013)

1990 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (96RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine demands another 6-7 years of cellaring. Oddly, about three years ago it was giving signs of maturing quickly, but it has now completely shut down. The Bordeaux-like, saturated dense ruby/purple color is followed by a tight-fisted nose and flavors of black fruits, underbrush, minerals, smoke, and new oak. Although extremely concentrated, the wine is broodingly backward, and not fun to drink ... yet. This loaded effort should prove to be one of the longest-lived red Burgundies made in the last twenty years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. (RP)" (02/2002)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Sociando-Mallet, Haut-Médoc (96WS, 93VN, 92RP, 90ST). Wine Spectator: "Amazing wine for the vintage. Black-ruby color. Stupendous aromas of crushed berries, currants, cherries and minerals. Full-bodied, with superconcentration of fruit and wonderfully polished tannins. Goes on and on. (JS)" (08/2000)

1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Montrose, St-Estèphe (100RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was served blind a magnum of the 1990 Montrose in Cape Town, which had been purchased on release and stored in perfect conditions. Now, here was the real deal, unfettered by any infection, a regal Saint Estèphe. It shows approximately the same evolution as the 1989 in bottle, but unsurprisingly showed less bricking in magnum format. The bouquet is cut from a different cloth to the 1989 and attests to that warm vintage: hickory, clove, undergrowth and wild fennel, later garrigue-like scents and terracotta, the latter two more pronounced on the bottle format compared to the youthful magnum. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, yet the balance is perfect, a ballerina-like poise with the structure of the Forth Bridge. It is a multi-layered Montrose that offers enormous length, fresh and vibrant with the magnum demonstrating tangible mineralite and tension as it fans out on the cr

1990 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Moët & Chandon "Dom Pérignon" Brut Champagne (98RP, 95BH, 93VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium lemon-straw colour. Intensely fragrant nose with aromas of jasmine, cinnamon buttered toast, stewed apples and preserved ginger. Concentrated honey-nut, warm apple tart and spice flavours fill the mouth giving ample flesh to the firm, fine structure. The bubbles are still remarkably frisky and, in harmony with the crisp backbone of acid, make for a relatively youthful, elegant and exquisitely balanced wine. Very long finish. (LPB)" (03/2009)

1990 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (96RP, 96ST, 95WS, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Interestingly, a bottle of 1990 Lafite Rothschild I pulled from my cellar for a video blog on my web site was still buttoned down, tight, and even with extended decanting was not showing as much as I would have hoped. However, a bottle tasted, of all places, in Seoul, Korea in February, was only a few points short of perfection. That amazing performance motivated me to pull another bottle out of my cellar and follow it over the course of two days. Sure enough, by the second day the wine was roaring from the glass. The 1990 Lafite has turned out far better than my early assessment. While it still possesses some firmness, and performs like a late adolescent in terms of its evolution, it boasts gorgeous aromas of cedar, tobacco leaf, cassis, and lead pencil shavings. The explosive aromas are followed by a fleshy, full-bodied wine that should hit its peak in 5-8 years, and last

Bid on this bottle of 1990 Latour, Pauillac (100WS, (98-99JS), 98VN, 96JG, 95RP, 95ST). Wine Spectator: "This is one of my favorite wines ever. Full-bodied, with layers of silky fruit and masses of currant, mineral and berry character. Amazing. It's a wine with perfect structure, perfect strength. It's 1961 Latour in modern clothes. It's hard not to drink it now. (JS)" (02/2005)
