1994 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc) reveals toasty sweet oak in the nose, bombastic levels of black currant fruit and spice along with a hint of mint in the background. (RP)" (12/1998) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, plush and concentrated, with a decided coconut and oak accent mixed with complex plum and berry flavors. Finishes with a rich, focused, generous aftertaste, with fine length. Deftly balanced. (JL)" (11/2004)

Top Pick!
1994 Taylor Vintage Port

100 points James Suckling: "This is, to date, the greatest Vintage Port ever from here. It overwhelmed me years ago when I tasted it from barrel, but only now is it crossing gradually into its drinking window. The intensity is still mind-boggling here, with sweet-and-sour notes as well as mounds of clay. There are violets lurking somewhere too. A full-bodied, medium sweet and sublime Vintage Port, showing forest fruits and freshly picked blackberries on the palate in the form of a creamy, focused and tannic texture." 1994 Angélus, St-Emilion

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Black-ruby. Sweet, expressive aromas of bitter cherry, cocoa powder and caramel. Very sweet and very concentrated, but fresh and nicely defined. Intriguing gamey nuance. Substantial even tannins coat the mouth, but are buried under explosive finishing fruit. This wine shows considerably more personality, not to mention depth of fruit flavor, than the '95. A superb '94, and one not to miss. (ST)" (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the new classification of St.-Emilion, justice ...

Top Pick!
1994 Léoville-Las Cases, St-Julien

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Excellent deep, saturated color. Sexy aromas of black cherry, cassis, and toasty, smoky oak. Wonderful sweetness and texture, with terrific perfume. More pliable than the '95 Las Cases. Tannins are extremely well integrated for a cabernet-based '94. I don't find the austerity that Delon cites. " (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Michel Delon, a great man, is the consummate proprietor, meticulously administering this vast estate spread out along the St.-Julien/Pauillac border, s ...

1994 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cask 23" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: " This red blend is intense and concentrated, with a rich and supple texture and loads of currant, anise, black cherry, plum and berry notes. On the finish, the flavors weave together in a complex tapestry, and though firmly tannic, it's perfectly balanced. *Cellar Selection* (JL)" (03/1998)

1994 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am not a great believer in the quality of most second wines, as they tend to be a dumping ground for everything deemed not desirable for the grand vin. However, such second wines as Forts de Latour, Bahans-Haut-Brion, Pavillon Rouge de Chateau Margaux, and Clos du Marquis are serious wines that possess the character of their more complex and concentrated siblings, yet are more supple and accessible. Clos du Marquis is not to be missed in the 1993-95 vintages. This deep ruby/purple-colored wine reveals the sweet, pure cas ...

1994 Fonseca Vintage Port

100 points Wine Spectator: "Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. *Ranked as the Top Wine of 1997, Cellar Selection* (JS)" (04/1997) 98 points Decanter: "Tight knit – not giv ...

1994 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignon's saturated purple color is accompanied by an exuberant, sweet, enveloping fragrance of smoky new oak, and jammy blackberry and cassis fruit. In the mouth, this lavishly wooded, black fruit-filled Cabernet is extremely full-bodied, with superb levels of fruit, glycerin, and extract. Like many 1994 Cabernet Sauvignons, it possesses extraordinary equilibrium, with the sweet tannin giving the wine considerable accessibility. The finish lasts for nearly 30 seconds. This will be a fu ...

1994 Arrowood Sonoma County Merlot

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 Merlot's saturated, inky black color is followed by a sweet, jammy nose of black fruits, licorice, vanilla, and smoke. Full-bodied, with a voluptuous palate, as well as a layered texture, this low acid, plump, fleshy Merlot should drink well for a decade after its release next year. Yummy! Everything Dick Arrowood and winemaker Michel Berthoud produce these days merits significant attention." (12/1996) Wine Spectator: "Shows mature candied, herb and currant flavors..." (10/2000)

1994 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no doubt about it - as a fan of the underrated Petite Syrah, I have never tasted greater Petite Syrahs than the 1994 Aida or 1994 Hayne. Some of the extraordinary Petite Syrah produced by La Jota from the old Park-Muscatine Vineyard on Howell Mountain, and the now-discontinued Ridge Petite Syrahs from the Devil's Hill portion of York Creek Vineyard were previous benchmarks, but Turley Cellars' Petite Syrahs have set a new reference point for this varietal. The 1994 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is the n ...

1994 Mount Veeder Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mount Veeder's 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon is a sleeper. The wine displays loads of creamy, vanilla, pain grille notes in the nose, to go along with ripe black currants intermixed with truffles and licorice. The tannin is sweet, the wine gives a nice tactile impression on the palate (medium to full-bodied and chewy), and the finish includes gobs of pure black cherry and black currant fruit. This is a delicious, up-front 1994 Cabernet that can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-12 years. (RP)" (12/1997) Wine Spectator: ...

1994 Simi "Reserve" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Finishes with ripe, bold, rich tannins and a wonderful aftertaste that keeps pumping out the fruit. (JL)" (11/1998) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Redcurrant, cassis, cocoa powder and iron on the nose, plus a subtle whiff of smoky oak. Sappy and thick in the mouth, with strong, bright flavors of red fruits and ...

1994 Duckhorn "Three Palms" Napa Valley Merlot

75% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Still quite dark ruby with purple highlights in color, and showing aromas of strawberry fruit, plum preserves, toasty oak, vanilla and hints of green onion and dusty rose. On the palate there are more sweet, lush flavors and a round mouthfeel with a fruit core of black cherry. This is a well-balanced wine with nicely integrated tannins and a rich creamy finish. It is drinking superbly right now!

1994 Through The Grapevine "Fanny Fougerat" Single Cask Borderies Cognac(750ml)

Through the Grapevine has taken the Scottish independent bottler model to the Charentes scouring the chais there for special casks and small batch blends. This amazing single cask from Fanny Fougerat is one of the few vintage Cognac available and represents 4 generations of experience producing brandy. The Fougerat family has long produced super high quality cognac to be sold to the large houses, in particular Martell, but in 2013 the Fanny the next in line to take over the business, began her own line. 1994 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 93CG, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1994 produced 4,863 cases from a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc. This is one of the great vintages of the 90s, and Spottswoode hit the bull’s-eye with this opaque, ruby/purple-colored wine that still has incredible youthfulness and vibrancy. Fabulous fruit intensity, blackcurrants, black cherries and blackberry, along with charcoal, chocolate and graphite, are all present in this superb, full-bodied, stunningly multidimensional wine that is only now approaching mid-adolescence at age 22. This wine has at least 25-30 more years of life left in it. It is a great one. (RP)" (08/2016)

1994 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Robert Mondavi Cabernet Reserve vertical. This has a very different bouquet to the 1996: lighter and minty, more red fruit than black fruit profile, raspberry, bergamot, a touch of leather coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, almost filigree tannins, harmonious, light and more Bordeaux like than other vintages with a little dryness coming through on the ferrous, honey-textured finish. This exudes style and panache. One of the greats of the decade, no doubt. Tasted June 2009. (NM)" (11/2009)

The warmth of the year comes through in the super-ripe, dense fruit. There is plenty of underlying structure to ensure another decade of very fine drinking here. This is a stunning Masseto from a long forgotten year. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. " (11/2011)

1994 Vineyard 29 (Grace Family) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1994 Vineyard 29 (Grace Family) Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a 3-acre vineyard, four hundred cases were produced of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak casks, it is a tightly-knit, black currant-scented wine with plenty of sweet oak, as well as powerful, rich flavors that have been melded into a restrained, elegant, authoritatively flavorful wine. Patience is mandatory as this black beauty needs 4-5 more years of cellaring; it should keep for two decades. (RP)" (12/1997)
