2017 Diatom "Katherine's" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from the Santa Maria Valley (this label is by and large focused on the Sta. Rita Hills), the 2017 Chardonnay Katherine’s just jumps from the glass with a perfumed, tropical bouquet of ripe citrus, spice, dried pineapple, and mango notes. Showing more and more classic salinity and oyster shell characteristics with time in the glass, it’s medium-bodied, has bright acidity, a layered, viscous texture, and a beautiful finish. It’s going to evolve for 8-10 years at a minimum. " (10/2018) 94 points Vinous: "The 2017 Chardonnay ...

2017 Stolpman "Para Maria" Santa Barbara County Red Blend

92-95 points Vinous: "The 2017 Syrah Para Maria is another attractive wine from Stolpman. Here, too, the fruit is bright, precise and articulate, which is to say quite a departure from the style of the 2016. Generous and pliant on the palate, with no hard edges and striking aromatics, the 2017 is shaping up to be a real beauty. The 2017 is a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Petite Verdot (all purchased fruit) done with about 40% carbonic maceration. Don't miss it. 2017 Field Recordings "Wonderwall" Edna Valley Pinot Noir

Winery notes: "Field Recordings is 35-year old winemaker Andrew Jones’ personal catalog of the people and places he values most. Having stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he has a keen eye for diamonds in the rough: sites that are unknown or underappreciated but hold enormous untapped potential. Andrew produces small quantities of soulful wine from these unusual, quiet vineyards. The Field Recordings wines are a catalog of single vineyard sites that produces wines with a sense of place and personality. Black cherries, figs and almon ...

2017 Tensley "Colson Canyon Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Syrah

92-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I loved the 2017 Syrah Colson Canyon, a classic Tensley Syrah with its plum and darker fruits, peppery herbs, olive, and savory meatiness. Possessing full bodied richness, impressive purity of fruit, and a big finish, it’s another winner that will keep for 10-15 years." (10/2018) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Deeply structured yet rich and polished, with smoked meat, huckleberry and garrigue notes that jaunt toward big but refined tannins on the finish. Winemaker's Notes: "Composition: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot, and 16% Syrah. A phenomenal value, this juicy red blend is approachable and rewarding. The dark ruby color has a nose of ripe berries. Fine-grained tannins with piquant acidity creates a structure which allows this wine to pair with a wide range of flavors: think of pairing this with homemade ravioli stuffed with Gorgonzola and fresh sage ina sauce of roasted heirloom tomatoes and garlic. 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Clean aromas of apple, pear, peach blossom and crushed white rocks show on the nose of this bottling by Adam Tolmach, whose career started in this vineyard many decades ago. There is strong chalky tension to the palate, where flavors of grapefruit peel and margarita-like lime mesh into green pear and lemon soda. (MK)" (04/2019)

2017 Stolpman Ballard Canyon Sauvignon Blanc

From the winery: "The moderate 2017 growing season gave us a healthy, balanced crop of Sauvignon Blanc. The early ripening grapes were almost entirely harvested before the early September heat spike. The result is a typical Stolpman Sauvignon Blanc with ample ripeness and crisp, refreshing acidity. A quintessential Stolpman Sauvignon Blanc with a fresh blast of limestone-driven energy. 2017 Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Chardonnay

Antonio Galloni writes of Au Bon Climat's iconic Jim Clendenen: "Clendenen is of course one of the central figures in the Santa Barbara wine scene. Over the years, he has influenced or directly mentored many of today's young superstar winemakers. It is therefore quite ironic that, tasted within context of today's Santa Barbara, Clendenen's wines are richer and more powerful than those made by most, if not all, of the young winemakers he has influenced."

Winemaker's Notes :"The focus of Piedrasassi's wine program is cool-climate syrah. We believe that good syrah can be made at many sites in Santa Barbara County, but it is at the cool climate sites that syrah is at its most compelling: producing the most complex aromas, the most savory textures.
