Professor Fritz Briem "1809" Berliner Weisse, Germany (16.9oz)

In 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. This 1809 is a very traditional interpretation of the "Berliner Style" Weisse with an intense blend of lactic tartness and complex fruitiness. It is bottle-conditioned with lactobacillus delbrueckii, unfiltered and unpasteurized. "1809" will age beautifully in a dark and cool location. Its complex fruitiness and tartness will most likely develop in quite astonishing ways.

Brauhaus Hartmannsdorf "Ritterguts" Gose, Germany (500ml)

More than 1,000 years ago, the Holy Roman Emperor Otto praised the “Goslarische Bier,” or “Gose” — the beer from the town of Goslar, in what is now Saxony in eastern Germany. A mere 700 years later, the nearby city of Leipzig saw its first Gose-tavern open for business. (Apparently this was a necessity, as the other local beers at this time were condemned as “undrinkable.”) By the first half of the 19th century, Leipzig, along with its suburbs, had become the de-facto center of Gose production, as the popular new, clean “pilsner” beer began to replace Go ...

The city of Cologne (or Koln) is located on the Rhine River and north of Munich. In Koln, Germany's third largest city, Kolsch beer is nearly the only beer people drink. Gaffel Kolsch is the town favorite.

Brauhaus Hartmannsdorf "Ritterguts - Bärentöter" German Sour Gose Bock, Germany (500ml) (Previously $6.49)

Inspired by an historical Märzen-Gose—stronger and darker than a standard gose—Bärentöter is in fact an entirely new creation. The world’s premier sour bock undergoes a lactic acid fermentation, lending an elegant sourness to its salty malt body and layers of fruity & spicy aromatics. *Bärentöter”(“Bear Slayer”) was the name of a rifle owned by a 19th century fictional German gunman of the Wild ...
