2014 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine I think is the best vintage to date, the sensational 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard comes from one of the top sites in all of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Incredibly complex, with layers of sweet black cherries, black raspberries, barnyard, wild herbs and spice, it has medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, impeccably balanced texture and a great finish. Drink this gorgeous Pinot Noir anytime over the coming 10-15 years. (JD)" (10/2016) 95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is one o ...

2011 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Wine & Spirits: "The cool 2011 season turned out a pristine vintage of Monte Bello, made from Cabernet (88%) grown on a limestone-inflected ridge high above Silicon Valley, blended with some Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The team at Ridge let the fruit recover for two weeks following an early October storm before picking, and were more aggressive in their extraction than normal, drawing as much color and structure as possible from the delicate fruit. The aromas revolve around oak at first—anise, wood smoke, cedar bark and cinnamon—but the wood’s c ...

Top Pick!
2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

96-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Monte Bello is stunning, bursting from the glass with aromas of crushed currants, plums, charcoal, sweet spices, black truffle and rich soil. On the palate, it's full-bodied, immensely deep and very concentrated, with an ample core of dark fruit that almost entirely conceals its rich chassis of tannin. The finish is long, tensile and chalky. Eric Baugher observes that 2016 was a drought year but that the vines were less stressed than in 2015, thanks to Spring precipitation, and it wasn't necessary to ...

2006 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Vinous: "A dark, brooding beauty, the 2006 Monte Bello is still very, very young. The aromatics alone are enticing, but the tannins still need time to soften. The 2006 is a masculine, vertical Monte Bello that demands cellaring. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Scents of lavender, sage, mint and savory herbs add closing flourishes. The perfumed sweetness of the fruit (one of the hallmarks of the very late harvest) remains one of the signatures of the 2006. The 2006 can be enjoyed today or cellared for another 25+ years. 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (Bin Soiled Label)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is marked by the drought vintage, which not only made a more concentrated crop but also deprived the blend of all supporting varieties, as only Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot handled the dry conditions sufficiently gracefully to make the final cut. At age ten, this muscular Monte Bello is finally beginning to unwind, offering up rich aromas of black cherry, cassis, dried mountain laurel, loamy soil and burning embers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, expansive and powerful, its generous, sweet ...

2015 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

100 points James Suckling: "Stunning depth, power, purity and elegance. The blackcurrants and plums are fresh and intense on the nose with blueberries and gently herbal notes, too. The palate has a keenly articulated array of vibrant tannins that hold long, fresh and pure. It invokes a sense of wonderment at the finish. So long and so pure. This blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, is just at the start of a wonderful journey. " (11/2018) 98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot ...

98 points James Suckling: "Unique aromas of blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate and walnut. Full body, very powerful and tannic. Incredible depth and power. Precise and so focused. Muscular. Great structure. This needs at least six to eight years to come together. *Top 100 of 2017*" (01/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A worthy successor to the profound 2013 and the fruit of the earliest harvest on record at this address, the 2014 Monte Bello is still quite youthfully expressive, wafting from the glass with an exuberant bouquet of ...

2004 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Ridge grows one of the most distinctive Cabernets in California at its Monte Bello estate. This vintage represents a selection of 38 percent of the crop, which itself had been naturally restricted by lower than average rainfall, particularly in winter. Ridge doesn't irrigate these vines-nor do they inoculate the juice to start fermentation, which yielded a modest 13.2 percent alcohol in 2004. The fractured limestone in the soil provided just enough moisture to grow this elegant cabernet, with flavors of wild black cherries and ...

2010 Rhys San Mateo County Pinot Noir (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The entry-level 2010 Pinot Noir (San Mateo County) is simply fabulous. Rich dark cherries, crushed flowers, mint and spices burst from the glass. This is a hugely delicious wine from Rhys. The 80% whole clusters are nicely balanced by the sheer depth of the fruit. This is a flat-out stunning wine from Rhys. In 2010, the San Mateo is the entry-level Pinot. The 2010 is bottled under San Mateo appellation, as it includes declassified fruit from a broader range of vineyards than the typical collection of sites from t ...

2007 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points James Suckling: "Blueberries, currants and flowers. The nose just pops out. Intense. Full body, with a round and velvety tannin structure and lots of currants, ripe strawberries. Very intense every. Black pepper at the finish. Muscular yet toned. Very structured yet balanced. This needs a minimum of four to five years of aging. Paul Draper says that perhaps this is as great as the legendary 1991. Made for aging." (05/2012) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reflecting on the 2007 Monte Bello, Eric Baugher describes the year as "a vinta ...

2010 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points James Suckling: "Aromas of black currant, walnut, black olive and sweet flowers. Licorice. Full body, round and soft tannins and a subtle yet rich finish. Stone undertone. Showing wonderfully now. Why wait? But it will age for decades ahead." (07/2017) 97 points Vinous: "The 2010 Monte Bello is just as stunning as it has always been. Today, the 2010 appears to be entering a closed phase, so it is best left alone for at least another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. The signatures are super-ripe, exotic fruit, sweet aromatics and firm tannins, all ...

2014 Rhys "Alpine Hillside" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

96 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Alpine Hillside bottling of pinot noir from Rhys Vineyards is once again my favorite of this absolutely stellar roster of 2014 pinots from this great Santa Cruz Mountain property. The wine offers up a marvelous nose of black plums, black cherries, espresso, woodsmoke, black minerality, fresh thyme and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and tightly-knit, with a marvelous core, great mineral drive, bright acids and outstanding length and grip on the ripely tannic and laser-like finish. At this ...

2014 Kathryn Kennedy "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of crushed currant, plums and creamy American oak introduce the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium-bodied, succulent wine with a juicy core of fruit, chewy structuring tannins and a flavorful finish. This isn't a Cabernet for those who dislike American oak, but it's nicely balanced and characterful in its style. Moreover, a recently tasted bottle of the 2006 suggests these wines age well. Drink from 2018-2023. (WK)" (05/2018) 90 points Vinous: "Kathryn Kennedy's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous wine ...

2014 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard bristles with energy. Rose petal, mint, white pepper and blood orange give the Alpine its super-appealing aromatic upper register, but there is plenty of depth lurking beneath. Here the flavors are bright and nicely focused, while the richness of the vintage is mostly felt in the dense, potent finish. (AG)" (07/2016) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2014 Alpine Vineyard Pinot Noir from Rhys is another outstanding young bottle of Pinot, with its whole clusters showing a bit today, but all of the constitu ...

2012 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95ST, 94VN, 93JG, 93RP, 92BH). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid ruby-red. Intensely perfumed, mineral-driven red berry, blood orange and potpourri aromas are complemented by deeper-pitched notes of cola and smoky Indian spices. Sweet, focused and light on its feet, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a silky, seamless texture. The mineral quality comes back on the endless finish, which is strikingly pure, focused and gently tannic. I was reminded of a high-end Chambolle-Musigny when I tasted this balanced but intensely flavored wine and suspect that it will age slowly and gracefully over at least the coming decade. 2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon ((96-98RP), (95-98VN), 97JD). Vinous: "The 2016 Monte Bello is stunningly beautiful. Medium in body, gracious and understated, the 2016 is a Monte Bello that is built on total finesse. Red cherry jam, raspberry jam, menthol and rose petal all grace this exquisite, vivid Monte Bello. All the elements are simply in the right place. The 2016 is not an obvious Monte Bello, but it is supremely gorgeous. At times, the sensation of tannins is non-existent. The persistent, crystalline finish is one thing of beauty. (AG)" (08/2018)
