93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Subtle flavors and a delicately rounded texture help this elegant, medium-bodied wine stand out. Hints of fresh bread and raspberries on the nose lead to slightly tangy flavors of ginger and white cherry on the palate. Gentle effervescence and just-right acidity lend lift. (JG)" (07/2019) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Briskly fruity with a trim bit of yeast in both its aromas and flavors, this slightly light-leaning effort leads with a nose that inclines to Blanc de Noirs but edges its way into Rosé territory on the palate ...

From the producer: "The Pétillant Naturel is Onward’s sparking expression of Malvasia Bianca from Capp Inn Ranch. The wine was moved from tank to bottle by gravity. Everything to do with bottling lady Pét-Nat has to be done by hand because she is still fermenting (meaning full of CO2 gas) and needs to be handled with care. I bottled the wine with a small amount of lees, allowing the fermentation to complete in bottle and left the wine un-disgorged (with sediment) in bottle. I feel this adds purity and complexity that would be lost if removed. The bottl...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Complexity and layering make this wine especially interesting as it goes from aromas of apple, butter and vanilla to deeper toast and baked apple on the palate. It’s medium in body, has tantalizing acidity and a lingering finish. (JG)" (11/2019) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek, with pinpoint focus, offering harmonious Meyer lemon, candied almond and fresh ginger flavors that fan out on the crisp finish. Drink now. (TF)" (11/2019) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "A perennial winner when it comes to fine Blanc de Blancs, Schr...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made from 100% estate-grown Chardonnay, this wine is crisp in apple and pear flavors while balanced by a rich crème brûlée tone. Well integrated and high in acidity, it shines in persistent freshness and delicious wet-stone complexity. (VB)" (11/2019) K&L Notes: Winemaking Notes from consulting Winemaker, Michael Cruse (Ultramarine): "This limited production of sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay from Heintz Ranch. We used the classic 'Champagne Method' pressing with wild yeasts on the primary fermentation. The wine ...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful ripe, plump, fat and opulent style of Cabernet Sauvignon that Caymus has pioneered, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, loads of juicy blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, low acidity and no real evidence of oak, but a nice, plush, full-bodied opulence. This is irresistible, especially for a Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at 14.9% natural alcohol. Drink it over the next decade or more. (RP)" (12/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, smooth and creamy, with vanilla, mocha, dark berry a...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Bold in texture and flavor, this wine offers toasty, lightly smoky aromas that segue to vanilla, toasted almond and baked apple flavors. The pinpoint bubbles tighten the texture just a bit for good balance before a creamy midpalate and finish take over. (JG)" (11/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Svelte and elegant, with peach and strawberry flavors that draw in notes of yeasty bread, blanched almond and spice. (TF)" (12/2019) Connoisseurs Guide: "Fairly subtle but very nicely focused on lemon-tinged cherries in the nose w...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of 72% Pinot Noir and 28% Chardonnay, this is a stunning vintage of the perennially impressive sparkler. Nutty and earthy, it sings in strawberry, wet stone and rose petal. The palate offers a lively mousse and persistent acidity, making it vibrant and easy to enjoy. (VB)" (03/2019) 93 points Wine & Spirits: "This fresh vintage of Iron Horse’s Wedding Cuvée is coral pink, like an English garden rose, a pretty wine with structure and depth to it. The pink continues into strawberry flavors and brisk pink-grapefruit aci...

From the meadery: "A few years ago, we had the pleasure of visiting an apiary on the Big Island of Hawaii. Beekeepers here alternate between pollinating cultivated crops and allowing their bees to forage freely in the native tropical flora. The Macadamia is a cultivated tree, of course, and honey produced from its nectar is as succulent and rich as the macadamia nut itself. That richness results in a full-bodied, brut dry mead of subtle complexity and exceptional balance that pairs with a wide variety of foods, from raw oysters to smoked duck."

Made in small batches on San Francisco's Treasure Island, this beautiful gin is the essence of flavor acheived through simplicity. Just 4 botanicals make up the recipe: lavender, orange peel, lemon peel, and Albanian Juniper. Created through vacuum distillation, all 4 bonaticals carry through on the nose and palate with esquisite precision and intensity. The spirit itself is soft and elegant. Another great gin in the stable of San Francisco made spirits. 1L bottles available exclusively at K&L!

Winemaker's Notes: "Pinot Noir from Escolle Vineyard (Santa Lucia Highlands), Pinot Meunier from Dommen Vineyard (Russian River), Chardonnay from Massa Estate (Monterey), Chardonnay from Rorick Heritage Vineyard (Sierra Foothills), Chardonnay from Piper Ranch (Mendocino Ridge). Our sparkling blend is sourced from a combination of organic and dry-farmed sites. The grapes were harvested at 19 brix, slightly riper than is typical in Champagne. These cool climate sites retain their acidity amazingly well even at slightly higher ripeness. The wine showcases t...

2010 Turnbull Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
New!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville possesses a dense purple color as well as copious notes of charcoal, black currants and violets. Full-bodied and tightly knit, but trying to burst open, this beautifully pure, well-crafted Cabernet should hit its prime in 3-4 years and last for two decades. It is another brilliant effort from a winery that has dramatically improved its quality from good to world-class. (RP)" (10/2013) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rich and flashy in the way of Oakville Cabernet, this shows rip...

Heidrun is a meadery in Point Reyes Station, Calif. that specializes in dry and crisp sparkling meads produced from single-varietal flower honeys. All of their meads are produced in the Champagne method--complete with riddling, disgorgement, and secondary fermentation--and are serious, Champagne-inspired sparklers with delicious honey flavors. The Meadowfoam blossom honey has a creamy light vanilla quality with an undertone of clove and this is evident in the body and finish of the mead, which is brut dry, seductively refreshing and austere.

92 points Wine Spectator: "Festive and luxurious, with polished orange blossom, strawberry and roasted hazelnut accents that dance on the long finish. Drink now. (TF)" (06/2019) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: " An aroma like prosciutto and dried figs and lively flavors of raspberry and tangy apricot bring a big personality to this crisp, well-balanced and complex wine. (JG)" (12/2019) Connoisseurs Guide: "At once brightly fruity and generously appointed with yeast, this outgoing Rosé is a spry, slightly frothy working that touches the right autolyzed ba...

A particularly rare California sparkling wine produced by Don Baumhefner who had been inspired by late disgorged Bollinger to let his wines rest "en tirage" for years. The San Francisco Chronicle's Esther Mobley fell in love with Baumhefner's 1992 and was excited to report in December 2017 that he had released another wine he discovered in Lake County that had come from a vineyard in Carneros. Mobley writes: "The 2010 Blanc de Blancs smells heady, wafting sweet bread dough. It’s rich, nutty and creamy, and more direct than Baumhefner’s 1990 and 1992 vint...

All of their meads are produced in a Champagne method--complete with riddling, disgorgement, and secondary fermentation--and are serious, Champagne-inspired sparklers with delicious honey flavors. Their orange blossom mead is one of their biggest in style, full of a rich orange flavors. Like most of their meads, however, this sparkler is still elegant with delicate citrus aromas and a slight mineral finish. Springtime...

92 points Decanter: "First overall in the sparkling category. Louis Roederer's outpost in California's cool Anderson Valley is a stylistic chip off the old block. The blend includes a considerable portion of reserve wine that's been oak-aged, making for a rich, weighty mouthful of creamy bubbles. Malolactic fermentation is suppressed in order to preserve acidity but a healthy dosage of 12g/l adds to its girth. What this sparkler lacks in zip, it makes up in texture and concentration. Lots of baked apple and toasted cashews here. (MM)" (10/2018) 92 poin...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Flavorful and polished, this supple wine blends subtle apple and pear notes with buttery, creamy accents. It is rich in character and softly framed by fine bubbles and elegant acidity, with a hint of sweetness on the finish. (JG)" (04/2019) K&L Notes: J Vineyards has been crafting wine since 1986. This is the first release of the "California Cuvée," made from grapes grown in cool-climate locations throughout California, including the Russian River Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands, and Mendocino County. A blend of Chardonnay, Pi...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This sparkling blend of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay is gorgeous in salmon color, with lithe bright flavors of sea spray, lemon peel and wet stone. Structured and gracefully high toned, it develops richer elements of peach and brioche on the cohesive, complex and lengthy finish. *Editors' Choice* (VB)" (11/2019)

96 points Decanter: "Beautifully harmonious with intriguing layers of quince, oyster shell, citrus, plum and lime peel. A dry, soft mousse which to be enjoyed now or within the next few years." (05/2019) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Broadly defined in honeysuckle, peach, brioche and moderate acidity, this is a crowd-pleasing and immensely likable sparkling wine. The finish lingers on a deep, nutty tone. (VB)" (11/2018) K&L Notes: A splashy Brut created to celebrate J's 20th anniversary, the J Cuvée 20 is an assemblage from the winery's best cool-clima...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is delicious but subtle as it weaves tempting notes of raspberry and cream with toasted nut and baked bread nuances that provide complexity and layering. It has both a vivid crispness and a subtle smoothness that coats the mouth and helps the finish linger. (JG). " (10/2019) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Delicately rich, with a hint of maturity, offering plush notes of roasted nut, Asian pear, cinnamon brioche and spice. (TF)" (12/2018) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This shows a light pink color, beautif...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft and luscious, this Cabernet has a melted fruit quality, like cherry pie filling, with a scoop of vanilla and coffee ice cream. Tasty, but beyond that is great structure and bones. Drink this wine by 2015. " (08/2012) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Very dark, rich and tarry, with black licorice, mocha and dried blackberry fruit that's also firmly tannic, ending with a chewy edge. Best from 2013 through 2022." (11/2012) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This full-throttle effort keys on ripeness and oak, and it has no sense of...

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2014 Syrah Santa Barbara is a sexy, sweetly fruited and voluptuous Syrah that offers up a rockin' bouquet of blueberry, blackberry, violets and pepper. It should drink nicely on release and over the following 5-6 years. Santa Barbara County’s Joey Tensley continues to make ripe, textured and voluptuous wines that deliver serious bang for the buck. The latest 2013s and 2014s are all outstanding. However, recent vintages are pushing on the sweetness level, and in a number of cases...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This crisp and classy wine tastes dry, tight but complex from the persimmon and raspberry aromas to the lively white-raspberry and white-peach flavors. It has taut acidity balanced by touches of spicy maturity that keep it interesting through the lingering finish. (JG)" (12/2019) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Spot on with respect to Rosé’s fruitier bent but exhibiting a fine yeasty trim of autolysis and lots of youthful energy, this one is a vivacious, slightly lighter, carefully composed example of the genre that is both m...

92 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Finding a place at the lighter end of the Rosé spectrum and, in fact, a wine that could easily pass for a Blanc de Noirs, this lightly yeasty version fixes on energetic, slightly juicy, young fruit as its main motif. It is briskly balanced, but its ample acidity enlivens without ever once seeming sharp, and it is wholly free of the astringency that marks its more vinous mates. *Two Stars*" (11/2015) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This sparkling wine is a majority of Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. It is aromat...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This elegant and plush wine is compelling from the first whiff of brioche through creamy, baking-spice flavors to a lingering delicate finish. A luxurious mouthfeel, good balance between crispness and ripeness and a profusion of flavor make it rival the quality of the parent brand, Schramsberg. (JG)" (09/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Alluring and nuanced, with expressive pear, brioche and caramelized hazelnut flavors that finish on a rich, polished note. (TF)" (11/2019) Connoisseurs Guide: "Clean but fairly muted with r...

90 points Wine & Spirits: "A fresh new release from Scharffenberger, Roederer Estate’s sister winery in Anderson Valley, this feels clean and sunny, with green melon, raw almond and green tea notes that last. It’s refreshing and comfortably balanced, the best wine from Scharffenberger we’ve tasted in many years." (08/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant and steely, with lemon, apple, creamy and toasted spice flavors, leading to a spirited finish. (TF)" (08/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "Dry and crisp, this light-bodied wine offers tangy lemon and green-...

It has a delicate nose, fine bubbles and a delightful lightness. Perfect for celebrations of all kinds."

90 points Wine & Spirits: "This isn’t complex, but something about its sweet, sunny fruit and gentle precision feels properly Californian. The texture is soft and polished, lasting on a clean chamomile scent that will keep you coming back for more." (12/2016) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Pinot Noir-based, this is light-pink in color and full of rich round flavors of strawberry and peach. Likably lush and moderate in acidity, it is dry with vanilla undertones that boost the fruit. (VB)" (11/2018) Wine Spectator: "Floral strawberry and watermelon aromas...

91 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant and expressive, with lively apple and cinnamon brioche aromas leading to elegantly complex piecrust, strawberry and spice flavors that linger. (TF)" (12/2018) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A rich, exuberant nose of apple and sea spray leads to a steely palate built up by nervy, focused acidity. Accents of oyster shell and earth permeate the midpalate in this Pinot Noir-dominant sparkler. (VB)" (01/2020) Connoisseurs Guide: "Hinting at fresh lemons one moment and a touch of chalk at the next all with a light overlay of...

Jeb Dunnuck: "Melville’s 2017 Estate Blanc De Blancs Sparkling Wine is solid and is made in a more vibrant, racy style. Lots of citrus, green apple, and white flower notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, juicy, deliciously quaffable sparkler that's best enjoyed over the coming 2-3 years." (10/2019)

91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "A quiet complement of green apple fruit sits beneath similarly constrained elements of toast and minerals in the fresh, nicely composed aromas of this comparatively refined sparkler, and, as is the Schramsberg norm, the wine is charged with plentiful, fairly tiny bubbles that last and last. The clean and crisp, slightly austere qualities of the genre come through at every stop here with nary a hint of sweetness surfacing along the way. Over the years, this producer has shown an especially adept hand with Blanc de Blancs, and...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A prestige cuvée made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, this impressive wine has a beautiful salmon hue. Floral and salty, it presents as dry, with a lingering flavors of lemon peel, oyster shell and unripe strawberry. (VB)" (11/2019) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Graceful and refined, with expressive notes of rose petal, fresh ginger, spiced cinnamon and strawberry that dance lithely on a lingering finish. Drink now.
