Top Pick!
The Fallet family traces its wine growing history back to 1610, and following the marriage of Geneviève Dart and Gaston Fallet in 1953 the Fallet-Dart brand was founded in 1970. The wine is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir that is fermented in a mix of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks and aged for at least seven years on the lees.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This explosive, ripe wine is part of a trilogy that the producer has made from three of the greatest villages in Champagne. This tense, mineral-driven wine is rich with white fruits. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2018) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sourced from three specific vineyards in Avize (Les Chapelles, Les Avats and Les Maladries), the 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Pur Avize is a bright colored Côte des Blancs with a terrific deep and aromatic bouquet of smooth chalk, juicy tropical fruit and lemon notes....

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The citrus, almost golden colored 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Pur Oger is sourced from two specific vineyards in Oger (Les Noyerots and Les Rumigny) that were harvested on September 15th, exactly a week earlier than the corresponding three plots for Pur Avize. The wine displays a deep, rich, tropical yet more aristocratic and mineral bouquet of intense brioche and nougat aromas as well as ethereal, refreshing lemon and limestone notes. Full-bodied, round, rich and complex on the palate, this is a mouth-filling...

2012 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Revelation" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
This all Meunier, single vineyard, barrel fermented wonder was the best Champagne I tasted on my spring trip. And yes--that includes all of the $1,000-plus canons that we tasted! Don't wait. It will disappear. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
Price: $79.99

The Underground Wine Letter says it best: "Launois Champagne was founded in 1872. Today, the Launois family owns nearly 46 acres of vineyards mostly in the Grand Cru village of Mesnil. All Launois Champagnes are Blanc de Blancs and all are Grand Cru. This producer consistently makes some of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, and the quality/price ratio is exceptional. This is a must visit if you are in Champagne, not only for the fabulous Champagne, but to visit Bernard Launois's private museum. It encompasses a large portion of the Mesnil villag...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Premier Cru Extra Brut is sourced in Bouzy and Écueil and was picked between September 20th and October 3rd. The wine blends 55% Pinot Noir with 45% Chardonnay and was fermented 60% in Burgundian pièces. The straw-yellow colored wine offers a clear, precise and refreshing citrus aroma with mineral notes and good intensity. Full-bodied and charmingly round on the palate, this is an intense, lush and fruity vintage with a refreshing mineral finish. Disgorged in March 2017 with a dosage of four grams per li...

This vintage Champagne is composed of 70% Meunier 20% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay that are selected out from the Trudon estate by blind tasting. Jerome Trudon considers this a snap shot of the excellent 2012 harvest. We only recieved five cases of this subtly nutty, concentrated vintage Champagne!

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From an ungrafted Pinot Noir vineyard planted in 1973 (on sandy soils) and picked on September 25th at 11.2 potential alcohol, the 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru les Francs de Pied offers very clear, fresh, precise and delicate fruit on the nose. Fermented 100% in used oak barrels, this is a pure, highly finessed, very elegant and terribly salty Pinot Noir with a very long, complex yet pure, tensioned and very long finish. This is well structured and persistent. (SR)" (08/2018)

2012 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "Such attractive, fresh, floral aromas here with fine bread, hints of white almonds and a lemon edge. White cherries and strong, chalky minerals, too. The palate has a very composed feel. Seamless and quite silky texture with effortless length and flow. Very fluid and composed. Very late, warming almond flavors. This is very long and smooth with a velvety finish. Super long pinot weight. Resolved and drinkable, but will age so well." (07/2019) 98 points Vinous: "The 2012 Cristal is another absolutely stellar wine this flight o...

96 points James Suckling: "Just over two-thirds Pinot Noir (Verzenay) and the balance southeast-facing Chardonnay from Chouilly. This has 30% of oak fermentation which has compressed the wine, lending it an air of extreme concentration. The nose is gently spicy, offering peaches and cherries as well as neat autolysis edge. The palate has a powerful, long and assertive feel, with peach and lemon pith, chalky minerals, and some grapefruit. A powerful vintage for Roederer." (01/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This beautiful wine, with its poise, eleganc...

In 1963, a group of 26 growers led by André Vandier and the heiress of the Château de Bethon, Madame de Reviers, founded La Crayère in the small village of Bethon in the Marne. That initial group has grown to include 170 growers who today comprise Le Brun de Neuville.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made from 100% estate-grown Chardonnay, this wine is crisp in apple and pear flavors while balanced by a rich crème brûlée tone. Well integrated and high in acidity, it shines in persistent freshness and delicious wet-stone complexity. (VB)" (11/2019) K&L Notes: Winemaking Notes from consulting Winemaker, Michael Cruse (Ultramarine): "This limited production of sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay from Heintz Ranch. We used the classic 'Champagne Method' pressing with wild yeasts on the primary fermentation. The wine ...

This Champagne is composed of 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, all from the due south-facing amphitheater village of Cumières, where Roederer cultivates 10 hectares biodynamically. It is their first ever rosé Nature release. -Gary Westby
Price: $84.99

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This rich, full-bodied Champagne is a classic from this producer. Its richness is emphasized by ripe Pinot Noir that dominates the blend, typical of the house style. A blend of grand and premier cru wines from across the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, this wine will age much further. (RV)" (12/2019) 94 points James Suckling: "Harmonious and straight with clarity and beauty to the wine. Cooked-apple and light honey aromas and flavors. Full body. Such balance and creaminess to the texture and weight. Lovely now." (07/2...

Highly acclaimed producers of single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Thomas Fogarty and his head winemaker Nathan Kandler also craft one of the most outstanding domestic sparkling wines on the market today. The "Estate" Blanc de Blanc is 100% Chardonnay sourced in nearly equal proportions from the Portola Springs and Langley Hill vineyards, two of the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA's most prized sites. The cool, maritime climate and high elevation (1,900 ft. on average) are ideal for producing a vivid, racy, and structured sparkling wine with the capacity ...

This comes from the Guadalupe Vineyard in Oregon's Yamhill-Carlton District, which was planted in 1989. The vineyard is unique because it shows the transition from the Jory soils of the nearby Dundee Hills to the sedimentary Willakenzie soils of the Yamhill-Carlton District. It posseses deep blue fruit, saddle leather, shaved chocolate and dusty soil qualities.

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Disgorged in March 2017, the 2012 Brut Blanc de Blancs is excellent, delivering a complex bouquet of warm pastry, dried white flowers, lemon oil and some smoky, gently reductive top notes. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a rich but precise core of fruit that reveals all the concentration of the vintage but is elegantly rendered, underpinned by tangy acids and concluding with a precise, chalky finish. Drink 2020-2040. (WK)" (04/2019) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: " This beau...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Graphite and spice notes lace the creamed white cherry and strawberry fruit flavors of this firm and finely meshed rosé. Lacy in texture, with a minerally underpinning and accents of herb and anise on the lasting finish. Disgorged February 2018. (AN)" (12/2019) 91 points James Suckling: "A fruity and earth rosé with sliced cooked strawberries and fruit tea. Full body. More like a light red. Flavorful finish. Drink now. " (07/2019) 91 points Vinous: "Like the Blanc, the 2012 Grand Vintage Rosé is tightly wound and reticent. ...

93 points John Gilman: "The new release of 2012 Ayala 'Le Blanc de Blancs' Brut Millésime is one of the finest bottles I have ever tasted from this excellent house. The wine spent five years aging sur latte and was disgorged in March of 2018 (I do not have information on its dosage, but it was judicious). The bouquet is pure and beautifully expressive already, wafting from the glass in a refined mix of delicious apple, pear, fresh almond, chalky minerality, hints of the smokiness to come and a lovely topnote of white lilies. On the palate the wine is pur...
