2016 Guy Farge "Vania" Saint-Joseph Blanc

Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, the 2015 Saint Joseph Vania Blanc has a tropical, exotic bouquet of melon, honeysuckle and hints of green citrus. It's medium-bodied, has good acidity, and a clean, straightforward style ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years." (01/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, the 2016 Saint Joseph Vania is more aromatic than most white Saint Josephs. It offers ripe hints of peach and guava on the nose, then delivers a rich, round mouthfeel on the palate. ...

Domaine Remy Nodin Saint Peray Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

Wine Spectator: "This sparkler offers a lovely Jonagold apple core, with hints of ginger, melon rind, star fruit and ginger weaving in and out. The lovely, lightly firm mousse gives the finish cut. Drink now. 200 cases made. (JM)" (05/2015) K&L Notes: Remy Nodin founded his winery in 2008. Prior to that, his fruit was all sold to the large cooperative Cave de Tain. He farms 9 hectares throughout the northern Rhone including holdings in Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas, St. Joseph and Saint-Peray. It is worth noting that Saint-Peray in its heyday produced spark ...

2015 E. Guigal "Ex-Voto" Ermitage Blanc

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Hermitage Ex Voto Blanc is certainly in the same league as the 2009 and 2010, and it’s going to be interesting to compare these vintages over the coming 2-3+ decades. The 2015 has all the hallmarks of a great vintage with its huge bouquet of quince, toasted almonds, brioche, liquid rocks, and honeysuckle as well as touch of licorice. Sensationally concentrated, opulent, and multi-dimensional on the palate, it has bright acidity and an awesome sense of minerality that keep the wine chiseled and focused on the palate. It h ...

2010 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage Blanc (1.5L)

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(100% marsanne): Bright gold. Orange oil and pear on the pungent, mineral-dominated nose. Rich, dense and focused, with a complex array of palate-staining orchard and pit fruit flavors. Broad and smooth but light on its feet thanks to a spine of zesty minerality. Very smooth and gently sweet on the endless finish, which leaves notes of honey and bitter pear skin behind. (JR)" (03/2012) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Hermitage La Chapelle Blanc is 100% Marsanne from the vineyard ...

2015 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another perfect wine is the 2015 Ermitage le Meal Blanc. The most decadent, unctuous and layered in the lineup, with to-die-for notes of white currants, toasted nuts, celery seed and licorice, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a huge mid-palate and a refreshing, pure, yet blockbuster finish that just won’t quit. If I had to pick a desert island white, this might be it." (12/2016) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Lovely, featuring waves of Jonagold apple, mirabelle plum, lemon curd and white peach flavors ...

2017 M. Chapoutier "Les Granits" Saint-Joseph Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Saint Joseph Les Granits Blanc is beautiful and continues to be one of my favorite white wines coming from this appellation (if not the entire Rhône valley). This light gold-colored effort offers up a classic, mineral-laced bouquet of crushed citrus, white flowers, toasted almonds, and spice. Rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated and incredibly elegant, it's a thrilling white wine that can be drunk today or cellared for over a decade. This cuvée is 100% Marsanne aged in 15% new demi-muids." (12/2018) 93 points Decan ...

2016 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc (1.5L)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "There's not much of the 2016 Hermitage Blanc to go around due to hail in the springtime, yet the resulting wine is another magical effort from this domaine. Bottled in August, it opens up with a fabulous blast of quince, white flowers, buttered citrus, licorice, and exotic spices. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine is full-bodied, rounded, and incredibly sexy, with a layered, mouthfilling texture. It doesn't have the sheer weight of the 2009 and 2010, but is deep, opulent, with plenty of fat and glycerin, and stra ...

2016 Ferraton Père et Fils "Le Reverdy" Hermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Also terrific, the tiny production 2016 Ermitage Le Reverdy Blanc is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne brought up in demi-muids. It gives up more honeyed marmalade, wood smoke, caramelized citrus and crushed rocks aromatics. Rich, unctuous and concentrated on the palate, with gorgeous purity, it has building structure, and a great, great finish. It’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage and should not be missed. Give bottles a year or so and enjoy over the following two decades. The only downside to these latest r ...

2017 Domaine du Tunnel Saint-Péray Cuvée Prestige Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Saint-Péray Cuvée Prestige is also brilliant, with buttered citrus, peach, tangerine, and some salty characteristics all just about soaring from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant and layered, it shows the vintage’s richer, riper style yet has freshness, purity, and focus. This cuvée is 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, and spent ten months in barrel." (12/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Saint Peray Cuvée Prestige is a blend of 80% Marsanne (from 100-year-old vines) and 20% Roussanne. ...

2000 M. Chapoutier "De L'Orée" Ermitage Blanc (1.5L)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "These wines usually flirt with perfection, which is the case with the 2000 Ermitage Cuvee de l’Oree. It boasts an amazing nose of licorice, minerals, acacia flowers, honeysuckle, and a hint of butter. Unctuously-textured and full-bodied, with great intensity and purity, yet remarkably light on its feet, it can be drunk over the next 3-4 years, then forgotten for a decade, after which it will last for 40-50 years. 2017 Domaine du Tunnel Saint-Péray Marsanne

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The full-bodied 2017 Saint Peray Marsanne is round and rich, an obvious candidate for early consumption. Marshmallow, melon, pear and quince notes all play out in this broad, textural white. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (JC)" (10/2018)

2017 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As in 2016, my favorite of the white parcel selections this year is the 2017 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc (231 cases produced), as it perfectly balances richness and power with refinement and structure. Toasted brioche and citrus marmalade, honey and truffle notes deliver sheer full-bodied, mouth-filling decadence, supported by austere notes of crushed granite, zesty grapefruit rind and cooling brine. Huge and intense yet refreshing, it's the essence of granite-grown Marsanne. (JC)" (10/2018) 98 points Decanter: "T ...

2016 M. Chapoutier "de l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Ermitage De L’Orée is also beautiful in the vintage and has a huge nose of buttered citrus, white flowers, orange blossom, and liquid rocks. Rich, full-bodied, beautifully pure and elegant, it has a seamless feel on the palate, terrific acidity, and a great finish. Coming all from the Les Murets lieu-dit and brought up in 15% new demi-muids, give this beauty 2-3 years of bottle age and it will shine for 2-3 decades. Drink 2021-2041." 2016 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Blanc 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The best of the lineup in 2016 is unquestionably the 2016 Ermitage L’Ermite Blanc, which is all Marsanne from the granite soils at the top of Hermitage hill that was brought up in 25% new demi-muids. Boasting a crazy bouquet of exotic tropical fruits, liquid rocks, white flowers, celery seed, and licorice, it’s deep, rich, and powerful on the palate, with the more upfront, elegant and pure style of the vintage, yet has awesome richness, fatness and opulence. It’s a legendary white that I suspect will have 4-5 decades of life." (1 ...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Similarly colored, the 2016 Ermitage Le Méal Blanc comes from a warmer terroir of pebbly and more loess soils and was brought up in 10% new demi-muids. It's a bigger, richer wine than the de l’Orée and boasts rocking notes of honeyed citrus, orange marmalade, baking spices, and licorice. Rich, powerful, and layered on the palate, it's another rocking white from this team that will drink nicely for two decades or more." 2010 M. Chapoutier "Vin de Paille" Ermitage (375ml) 3-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Because of a change in French laws, the 2010 Ermitage Vin de Paille will be the last sweet wine made by Chapoutier. Made from 100% Marsanne, this perfect wine exhibits an incredible perfume of truffles, apricot jam and caramelized tangerines. This noble, surgically precise classic can be drunk now or cellared for over 100 years. It is a remarkable wine, and it’s a shame to see this cuvee discontinued (RP)" (12/2012) 99 points Wine Spectator: "Very intense, with a tightly focused beam of apricot eau-de-vie, qui ...

2003 M. Chapoutier "De l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc
Bid on this bottle of 2003 M. Chapoutier "De l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc (99RP, 95WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Nearly perfect, one of the most prodigious dry white wines I have ever tasted is the 2003 Ermitage Cuvee de l’Oree. A 669-case cuvee fashioned from yields of 10 hectoliters per hectare, it offers aromas and flavors beyond anything I have previously tasted in a dry white. It tastes like a liqueur of licorice intermixed with a liqueur of honeysuckle, quince, and rocks. Opulent, viscous, and full-bodied, at first glance it is seemingly fragile and over the top, but it boasts extraordinary freshness and liveliness as well as monster concentration and a finish that lasts over 60 seconds. I suspect it will drink beautifully for 3-4 years, then go into a funky stage, and re-emerge two decades later. It may be a 100-year wine … but who knows? Without question, it is a tour de force in winemaking. (RP)" (02/2006)

2012 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 6-Pack (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Much more open, fleshy and sexy, the 2012 Hermitage Blanc was just bottled a month prior to this tasting. Coming from l’Ermite, Les Rocoules, Maison Blanche and Peleat lieux-dits, it’s always a rough blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne that’s aged in barrel. Loaded with notions of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, powered rock, buttered citrus and green almond, it’s full-bodied, rich, upfront and fruit loaded. While I think it will be a relatively accessible early in its life, it has the concentration to hold fo ...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Even more rich and concentration - and quite possibly the best white wine I’ve ever tasted - the 2009 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc l'Ermite is an unquestionably monumental wine that will stand up to any white wine in the world today! A blend of 100% Marsanne, from a tiny 3.7 acre site at the top of Hermitage hill, that was aged for 10 months in 100% new French oak, it boasts glorious aromas of lychee, toasted hazelnut, brioche, mineral, and honeycomb that literally soar from the glass. Offering off the hook notes of quince, honeysuckle, liquid rock, orange blossom and sautéed peach, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, notable freshness and purity, and a crazy long finish.
