2005 Walter Hansel "Cahill Lane" Russian River Pinot Noir

90-92 points Robert Parker: "The 2005 Pinot Noir Cahill Lane, made primarily from Dijon Clones 114 and 115, boasts a dark ruby color in addition to a sumptuous bouquet of black cherries, cool leafy notes, forest floor, and subtle oak and superb length as well as richness. It should evolve for a decade or more. Kudos to Stephen Hansel for keeping prices so realistic..." (12/06) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Smoky cherry and dark berries on the nose, plus hints of licorice and mocha. Velvety red and dark berry liqueur fl ...

2005 Vincent Girardin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red-ruby. Blackberry, licorice, leather, flowers, minerals and smoky oak on the pure, complex nose. A bit less expressive in the mouth, but with enticing sweetness to its dense dark fruit, mineral and licorice flavors. Finishes layered and quite long, with a juicy quality and impressive chewy depth. 92+ points. (ST)" (03/2008) 91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The nose remains backward but less closed than when I originally reviewed it with ripe and mildly sauvage notes of earth and iron-i ...

2005 David Bruce Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

David Bruce's 2005 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is made from a combination of grapes sourced from some of the best vineyards in the region, including Balleto, Cleary, Demple, Teac Mor, Truchard, Twin Hill and Windsor Oaks. The appellation's cool maritime climate and adequate rainfall allow for natural sugar development and vibrant, flavorful acidity. The wine's bouquet brings to mind red cherries, cranberries and plums with subtle notes of baking spices, like nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. The red cherry and plum notes continue onto the palate, lifted by an unde ...

2005 Williams Selyem Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Connoisseurs Guide: "If a touch less intense and not quite as nuanced as the rest of its kin, this well-defined, eminently fruity offering is nonetheless long on sweet cherries and is given a lift in overall richness by nicely placed oak. It is medium-full-bodied, a bit plump to start and finished with balanced acidity, and, while it is unfair to call it simple just now, it seems likely to develop a little more reach and complexity with age. *One Star*" (06/2007) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Strong notes of cumin and sassafr ...

2005 Calera "Mills" Mt. Harlan Pinot Noir

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple 2005 Pinot Noir Mills Vineyard has a sweet nose of boysenberry, black raspberry, and a hint of blueberry as well as a floral note. Medium to full-bodied, with sweet tannins, and wonderful depth, length, and texture, this may be the most succulent and precocious of the 2005s, but it will evolve for at least a decade." (08/2009) 92 points Wine & Spirits: "(No tasting note given)" (06/2008) 91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "On first glance, this almost gangly young Pinot Noir impresses as being ...

2005 Radio-Coteau "La Neblina" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

92 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of mineral and pebble join ripe raspberry and red currant fruit. Intense and focused, with a beam of vibrant blueberry flavors. Ends with a nice touch of fresh earth and a delicate aftertaste. " (06/2007) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Bright, spicy aromas of cherry and minerals, with a deeper note of cherry pit. Picks up a cocoa powder note on the palate and repeats the fresh cherry note. The spice notes return on the sweet, persistent finish, which features a dusting of fine tannin ...

2005 Clouds Rest Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Connoisseurs Guide: "There is no question but that age is beginning to show here, yet if no longer an especially fruity wine, this version is shot through with exotic spice, hints of dried herbs and undisguised oak, and it delivers considerable complexity nonetheless." (02/2011)

Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the David Bruce winery has been producing stellar wines since it was founded in the early 1960s. 2005 Williams Selyem "Allen Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dry and focused in acids, the wine shows the balance and complexity of the vineyard, as well as its ageworthiness. It’s very young now, with immature raspberry, cola, rum punch, balsamic, mushroom and Asian spice flavors, but decanting and slow warming in the glass help elevate it. Nonetheless, your best bet is the cellar. Best after 2008, and for many years after, depending on how old you like your wines. *Cellar Selection*" (02/2008) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. The tannins provide structure and a nice mouthfeel. (JL)" (09/2007) 90 points Vinous: "Deep red. Spicy cherry and raspberry on the nose, with exotic cola and cinnamon qualities adding complexity. 2005 Adrian Fog "Savoy Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

92 points Robert Parker: "Adrian Fog produces some of California’s most compellingly complex, aromatic Pinots. The 2005 Pinot Noir Savoy Vineyard is reminiscent of a premier or grand cru from Burgundy’s village of Morey-St.-Denis. Forest floor, fresh mushroom, spearmint, plum, root beer, and strawberry characteristics are found in this soft, medium to full-bodied, round effort. Enjoy this sensational Pinot over the next 3-4 years." (12/06)

2005 Adrian Fog "Numbers" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is slightly more deeply pitched and slightly riper as well, with a similar mix of ripe and earthy red berry liqueur notes that merge into delicious, sweet and fresh medium-bodied flavors underpinned by moderately firm and dusty tannins on the solidly long finish. This offers a bit better balance as there is obvious warmth though the same touch of gas comes through on the finish. Worth a look. 2005 Hanzell Sonoma Valley Pinot Noir

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "The ripeness of this wine stands out. The cherry flavors even have a slightly raisined edge. The wine is also fairly tannic. Additional flavor nuances include tangerine zest, wild raspberry, red currants and white pepper. This is a great Hanzell. Give it until 2010, and it should develop interesting bottle complexities for many years. *Cellar Selection*" (08/2008) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Notably earthy in a pleasant way, with mineral, pebble, sage and dried currant flavors that are compact and focused, yet long and persis ...

Completely delicious and complex, it will hold for six years or so." It is full and fleshy in feel with a terrific sense of concentration and just the right touch of tannin for structural grip, and, like both of its show-stopping partners, it is absolutely delicious right now yet will develop in bottle for a good many years. *Three Stars*" (10/2007) 91 points Rober ...

It is elegant, rich, ripe, and medium to full-bodied with sweet tannins, but it is backward and in need of a good 2-3 years of bottle age...This is a vintage for Calera that should age beautifully for 15 or more years..." Gains in sweetness on the finish but maintains admirable vivacity and focus." (05/2007) Wine & Spirits: "There's a bit more transparency to Pomarium than Peay's Scallop Shelf (above). But it’s a beautiful wine, Williams Selyem’s best Ferrington in memory, and a near-perfect expression of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir." 2005 Belle Glos "Las Alturas" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

Like a spice box, this Pinot offers a panaply or aromas, including clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise, with cranberry fruit and a hint of red cherry. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Lucien le Moine Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (96RP, 96WS, (93-95BH), 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru from Lucien Le Moine was an absolutely gorgeous wine, though following winemaker Mounir's advice, as with all of his wines, I afforded it a long seven-hour decant and a vigorous shake. The bouquet has a crystalline purity, armed with maraschino cherries, fresh raspberry, orange sorbet and a touch of cold stone. The palate similarly has exceptionally fine clarity and precision, harmonious from start to finish, intensity married with freshness and vitality. Such is the poise but you hardly notice the intensity and length here. For sure, it is a grand cru in its infancy, although with appropriate decanting/aeration, I would begrudge anyone from opening a bottle now. However, it has the substance and breeding to last many years. (NM)" (04/2016)
