2018 Aurore Dezat Sancerre

90 points Decanter: "Attractive floral nose with gooseberry and orchard fruit flavours. Excellent ripeness on the palate with the CO2 spritz enhancing the citrusy freshness. Elegant finish. (2019 DWWA)" (05/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a crisply textured wine, with attractive acidity and a strong mineral edge. Fresh citrus flavors and acidity are comfortably balanced by the taut steely edge. 2018 Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc

90 points Decanter: " Leaf, stone fruit and mint bouquet and palate. Restrained style which may well develop further in bottle. Long, mineral-laden finish. (2019 DWWA)" (05/2019) K&L Notes: The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. The flavors are bright with lime, mineral, passion fruit, and that wonderful chalkiness one wants from a Sancerre. This wine over delivers and pairs beautifully with oily seafood dishes and of course, your favorite cheeses.

2018 Bedouet "Clos des Grands Primos" Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "With granite, schist and gneiss in the soil, this is a classic Muscadet vineyard. The organic grapes offer white-fruit flavors that are given complexity by minerality and a taut lemon and orange-zest texture. Drink the wine now. *Editors' Choice* (RV)" (10/2019) Wine Spectator: "Silky in texture, with a savory profile, displaying a mix of thyme and white pepper notes, as well as hints of fleur de sel. Accents of nectarine mark the vibrant finish. Drink now. 10,000 cases made, 2,700 cases imported. (AZ)" (09/2019) K&L Notes ...

2018 Domaine de la Noblaie "Goutte de Rose" Chinon Rosé

93 points Winedoctor.com: "This is 100% Cabernet Franc, vinified in stainless steel, and it is already in bottle, very sensibly under screwcap. It kicks off with a beautifully fresh and dusty nose, showing subtle peach and strawberry fruits, lightly dusted with minerals. The palate feels appropriately fresh, tense, pure and cool, with a polished style, an ebullient fruit character streaked with mineral and acid veins. It closes with a very fine and peppery flourish in the finish. All in all a very attractive rosé. From my first Loire 2018 report." (02/2 ...

2017 Domaine du Petit Clocher Anjou Blanc

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Superripe grapes are the secret behind this rich wine. Although it is dry, this floral wine offers a touch of honey that balances the crisp apple flavors and opulent texture. Still young, this intense wine deserves to age. Drink from 2020. (RV)" (09/2018) K&L Notes: Established over 50 years ago, the 4th generation of the Denis family now runs this operation. Julien is the winemaker, Stephane in charge of the viticulture and Vincent oversees the administration and sales. Over the last decades the property has grown from 5 ...

La Petite Marquise Crémant de Loire Brut

Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is soft, lightly nutty and lit up by bright acidity. Apples and creamed pears have a tangy, mineral edge. (RV)" (05/2018) K&L Notes: A pale yellow wine with tiny bubbles, this Crémant de Loire Brut is rounded and delicate with a fine, nervy, complex nose and the freshness of Chenin Blanc, floral Chardonnay and fruity Cabernet Franc from 20- to 30-year-old vines. With its lively attack, it proceeds gracefully across the palate with nice aromatic persistence in the mouth and lingering notes of fresh peaches and pear. A great ...

2018 Domaine Tabordet "Le Champs des Vignes" Pouilly Fumé

Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domain Tabordet is run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. When the two brothers first took over the estate it consisted of three hectares (7.4 acres) in Sancerre. By 1988 they had added another 4.5 hectares of Sancerre and also added 12 hectares (29.7 acres) in neighboring Pouilly Fumé, just across the Loire River. Wine growing in Pouilly Fumé dates back to the fifth century when the Romans dominated the area. In 1937, it became an official Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) of Fr ...

2017 Franck Millet "Insolite" Sancerre

One of K&L's very finest buys from France, this is a reserve cuvée made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit, minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their freshness ...

2018 Domaine Cherrier Père & Fils Sancerre

Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930, and since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The estate has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky mineral and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

90 points Vinous: "Light vivid orange. High-pitched orange pith, strawberry and floral aromas, along with a minerally quality that builds with air. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering taut citrus fruit and red berry flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Finishes dry and minerally, displaying very good persistence and a repeating floral note. (JR)" (08/2019) K&L Notes: We were first introduced to the wines of Eric Cottat a few years back. 2014 La Source du Ruault "Clos de la Côte" Saumur-Champigny Rouge

"I first met vigneron Jean-Noël Millon while attending an organic wine fair in the South of France. The wines were impressive, so we arranged to meet on my trip through the Loire a couple of months later. A visit to the winery led to a trip through the ancient cellar, which had been carved from the chalky stone below (known as tuffeau) two centuries before. As we progressed from chamber to chamber, it began to feel more like a spelunking expedition. Ancient coins were pressed into the walls by past workers, the old wine press was still intact, even the o ...

2018 Franck Millet Sancerre Vieilles Vignes

The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage. We love these wines for their freshness, charm and affordability, and this is easily our best value Sancerre in the store. From soils of clay and chalk in the village of Bue near the Domaine. The Millet keeps you coming back for more. It is vinified entirely in stainless steel to preserve the wonderful citrus and slightly grassy aromatics and gentle mineral finish.

2018 Domaine de la Noblaie "Le Temps des Cerises" Chinon

92-94 points Winedoctor.com: "This is Jérôme's domaine-level cuvée, and as he pours this sample taken from cuve a few days before this tasting I ask myself if their is any chance it will be as good as his brilliant 2017 Temps de Cerise. As it happens, it is. This is simply beautiful, filled with aromatic dark fruits, dressed with touches of blackcurrant and black olive. The palate is simply exquisite, pure and fresh, very firm, with lots of very primary character, great fruit density, and an impressively sinewy texture. For this to match the 2017 suggest ...

2018 Domaine des Côtes Blanches Sancerre Rosé

Made by the Millet family who have been running the estate for five generations. Vigneron Nicolas Millet has taken the helm of this family operation, originally established in the 1930s, and began moving the winemaking toward organics in 2008. Nicolas makes wonderful blancs and rouges but the rosé is always a standout in the category. The Côtes Blanches refers to the stony white soils found on the slopes of Sancerre in the heart of France. This is the homeland of light, delicate Pinot Noir, made into fresh reds and elegant rosés. The Sancerre Rosé is aro ...

2018 Michel Delhommeau "Saint Vincent" Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie

Stephan Reinhardt writes: "It's all natural here, and as you know, ripe and complex wines with moderate alcohol levels are pretty rare on planet wine—there are German Rieslings, Portuguese Vinhos Verdes and there are Muscadets. The ones from Michel Delhommeau belong surely to the most accessible. They do not come from hard and sour granite soils (like most Muscadets and also Vinho Verde), but from molten lava called gabbro. This crystalline soil gives wines of finesse and elegance, but also charm—a character you can rarely find in Muscadets, which tend t ...

2017 Pierre & Bertrand Couly "Cuvée Classique" Chinon

Joel B Payne writes: "Although he still owns half of Couly-Dutheil, Pierre Couly was thrown out by his brother Jacques when the latter took control of the family business ten years ago. It is not quite fratricide, but it was particularly odd because both were near the age of retirement when it happened. With three hectares from Domaine Farou, his wife’s estate, Pierre and his son Bertrand started over. A decade later, they now have 20, exclusively on the plateau above Chinon. Including the grapes that they buy from their winemaker, father and son now pro ...

1989 Couly-Dutheil "Clos de l'Olive" Chinon

Direct from the estate! Made from 100-year-old Cabernet Franc vines, growing on unique limestone and clay soil, this wine is dense and extremely complex. A magnificent example of a fine Loire red from what is arguably Chinon's greatest producer. Great aging potential, too. Full bodied and concentrated, a great vintage for Clos de L'Olive with abundant fruit, sweet rich mouthfeel and ripe juicy tannins. Very impressive wine for drinking well into its third decade. These wines evolve into the pinnacle of elegance, with haunting aromas of rich plummy fruit, ...
