2015 Ankora Santa Clara Valley Zinfandel (Previously $20)

Ankora is a line of wines produced by the family owned farming outfit Dorcich Vineyards, which is located near Gilroy, CA. The Dorcich family has been farming in California since 1897 when the first generation emigrated to America from Croatia. Winery tasting notes: "Our Zinfandel is soft on the palate with notes of blackberry, white pepper and plum."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Zinfandel Vogensen Ranch has a medium to deep garnet color and nose of baked plums, blackberry compote and spice box with an earthy undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of earth laced black fruits flavors on offer in the mouth, it has firm frame of chewy tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing long and just a little astringent.
