2014 Xanadu Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia

96 points James Halliday: "91% cabernet sauvignon, 5% malbec, 4% petit verdot, crushed and destemmed, static and open fermenters, 33% undergoing post-ferment maceration for 4 weeks, matured for 14 months in French oak (40% new) before blending. One of six '14 Xanadu cabernets, you really need to keep your wits about you. Great colour is no surprise, nor is the majesty of the cassis-filled bouquet and palate. While there is an element of barrel selection (and trickle down of lesser barrels, and possible promotion) each wine does have its own personality, ...

2016 Leeuwin Estate "Prelude" Chardonnay Margaret River

94 points Decanter: "Classic with a good whack of stylish French oak on the nose. Juicy and full-flavoured stone fruit; limey acidity adds strength and balance. Focused, linear and stony, with an almost saline finish. (panel)" (10/2018) 94 points James Halliday: "Death, taxes and the quality of Leeuwin Estate chardonnay. This may 'only' be the Prelude version but its quality is as clear as a bright blue sky. Pure stone fruit, sweet oak, pear and a cleansing flush of citrus through the finish. It builds, it satisfies and it refreshes. Elegance and power ...

Top Pick!
2014 Leeuwin "Art Series" Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia (Elsewhere $55)

96 points Bob Campbell: "Very deep red/purple colour. The bouquet is all about concentrated, perfectly-ripened cabernet fruit embellished with stylish oak. Cedar and berries. The wine is very intense and cast in an elegant but full-bodied style, with red berry fruit in abundance on the palate. The tannins are emphatic but fine and restrained, beautifully tailored. A lovely wine indeed - to cellar or enjoy now. (Huon Hooke - The Real Review)" (05/2018) 93 points James Halliday: "Reticent. Firmly structured. Southern Margaret River across its verdant vei ...

Top Pick!
2015 Leeuwin Estate "Art Series" Chardonnay Margaret River Western Australia (Elsewhere $89)

96 points Decanter: "Potent primary fruit, perfume and poise are the hallmarks of this long-lived classic - though thanks to earlier picking, less new oak and no malolactic, it has become sleeker. The expressive 2015 shows layers of heady oak, rock melon, dried pear, peach, pineapple, nougat and buttered popcorn. A relentless push of grapefruit acidity leavens and provides backbone and drive. (SA)" (03/2019) 96 points James Halliday: "Generous of flavour and texture, imparted by Leeuwin's stamp of extended skin contact, an approach that demands impecca ...

2015 Xanadu "DJL" Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia

94 points James Halliday: "Fruit mainly from Wallcliffe with a proportion from Wilyabrup and 5% from Geographe. 6% petit verdot included. Beautifully balanced medium-weight cabernet. The bouquet is full of blackcurrant, floral perfume and chocolate, and the palate is sweetly-fruited and supple, with fine, melting tannin which provides a lingering freshness on the finish. Happily drink now or cellar." (08/2018) 92 points James Suckling: "Rich cassis, mulberries and dark cherries with ripe herbs and leaves, leading to a palate that has a smooth, fleshy t ...

2016 Walsh & Sons "Roi" Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River Western Australia (Previously $35)

94 points James Halliday: "From the Osmington district, 20% hand-picked whole bunches into a concrete vat with 80% machine-harvested 2 days later and tipped on top (no crushing or destemming), pressed to French oak (80% new) for 12 months maturation. A very powerful, sombre black-fruited wine with savoury herbal notes and pushy tannins on a long palate." (08/2018) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The unusual 2016 Roi Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in concrete, with 20% whole bunches. It's medium-bodied and silky on the palate but a bit confected ...

2016 Walsh & Sons "Felix" Syrah Margaret River (Previously $30)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Small batch winemakers Ryan Walsh and Freya Hohnen deliver the goods once again with this full-bodied, earthy and adorably labelled wine. It's meaty and floral in nature, with tones of soy sauce and white pepper weaving between raspberry and blueberry fruit. The tannins are sandy in texture, adding grip to the round, juicy fruit. Like Walsh's other offerings, it manages excellent drinkability amidst power and refinement. " (04/2019) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "On the earthy/meaty side of the Syrah spectrum, th ...

2016 Amelia Park "Reserve" Chardonnay Margaret River (Previously $40)

Here in the southwestern corner of Western Australia, the warm maritime climate and gravel and sandy loam soils make ideal conditions for the production of intense and structured wines from Bordeaux varietals, but it is also a region famous for world class Chardonnay, from a single vineyard in the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River known for yielding fruit with high natural acidity.
