2015 Valandraud, St-Émilion (Previously $190)

99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine that will be a candidate for perfection at maturity, the 2015 Valandraud is a heavenly wine that exhibits a deep, saturated ruby/purple color as well as a sensational bouquet of blackcurrants, cassis, crème caramel, graphite, and chocolate. This full-bodied, expansive, super concentrated 2015 is a hedonistic dream and has exceptional purity, balance, and equilibrium. While it offers pleasure today, it needs short-term cellaring and will keep for 20+ years." (11/2017) 98 points James Suckling: "Plenty of toasty oak and ext ...

2015 Le Thil, Pessac-Léognan (Previously $27)

92 points Decanter: "This is still 100% Merlot, while waiting for the Cabernet Franc vines to mature (it's massal selection from Beauregard). Despite the pure Merlot, this is tight, almost austere, with clear ageing potential. It has carefully extracted black fruits and firm tannins, yet there's a softness through the mid-palate and an opening out on the finish which develops into plump red fruits. (JA)" (03/2018) 91-92 points James Suckling: "This is a fascinating wine that is 100% Merlot with plenty of fruit and velvety tannins. Lovely center palate. ...

2016 Hourglass "Blueline Vineyard" Napa Valley Merlot (Previously $75)

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Merlot Blueline Estate (there’s 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Malbec) was brought up in two-thirds new oak and is another beautiful wine from winemaker Tony Biagi. Ripe blue fruits, blood orange, mint, and leafy herbs all flow to a medium to full-bodied, ripe yet also elegant Merlot that shines for its balance and purity." (01/2019) 93 points James Suckling: "A soft and velvety Merlot with dark berries and chocolate. Walnuts, too. Full-bodied, round and velvety. Shows Merlot DNA. 20-plus vineyard age. Delicious." (11/20 ...

2015 Larkmead "Firebelle" Napa Valley Merlot (Previously $140)

96 points James Suckling: "This Merlot-based red is really exciting with dark berries, dark chocolate and bark. Full-bodied, dense and layered. So serious and exciting. Merlot is great here. Drink in 2020." (05/2018) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blends 71% Merlot with 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Earthy, it evokes wild truffle and fresh compost, with highlighted flavors of dark plum and cherry. Its soft silky texture is inviting and a complement to the gritty backbone of tannins, which though in check, are plenty powerful. (VB)" (11/ ...

2015 La Fleur-Pétrus, Pomerol (Previously $320)

99 points James Suckling: "The aromas to this are stunning with lavender, rose petals, walnut skin, strawberries and raspberries. Captivating. Full body, layers of polished tannins and perfectly ripe fruit. Dense and very long. Breathtaking classicism. Try in 2021 and onwards." (02/2018) 97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the undeniable superstars of the vintage is the 2015 La Fleur Pétrus, which is 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This awesome wine builds with time in the glass and shines just as much for its purity and elegance and richness and power. B ...

2014 West Of Temperance Yountville Napa Valley Merlot (Previously $40)

Winemaker's Notes: "Sourced from the tiny, 6-acre, 30+-year-old Hopper Creek Vineyard in the heart of Yountville. Medium bodied with a dense core of textured juicy red currants. Grown in the cooler part of the valley. Soft, round tannins accentuate the ample acids here. On the long finish, we catch a few winks of nutmeg, clove and mocha. Destemmed, 3 day cold soak, fermented in 1 ton open top fermenters. Aged in 30% new French oak barrels (Taransaud), 70% neutral French oak barrels."

1990 Beau-Sejour Becot, St. Emilion (Previously $230)

91 points Wine Spectator: "Impressive wine. Dark ruby color. Lovely aromas of raspberries, chocolate and flowers. Full-bodied and very chewy. Still holding back yet there's fruit under it all.--1990 Bordeaux retrospective. (JS)" (08/2000) 90 points Vinous: "Red cherries, strawberry, rose petals and a touch of sous-bois, conveying more tension than the preceding vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening: quite meaty in style, nicely judged acidity and fine cohesion; not complex but well balanced with an appealing savory finish that is i ...

2016 Andrew Will Columbia Valley Merlot (Previously $40)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Merlot from Andrew Will is a beauty - which augers very well for this year's vineyard-designate bottlings. Offering up aromas of black cherries, cassis, sweet spices and subtle notes of fruitcake, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and generous, with an ample core of ripe but succulent fruit, melting tannins and a long finish. Drink it over the next 5 or 6 years to profit from its youthful exuberance. (WK)" (06/2018) 90 points Vinous: "Medium red-ruby. Musky aromas of black raspberry, currant and mocha ...

1989 Beau-Sejour Becot, St. Emilion (Previously $250)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted side by side with the 1990, it is interesting how much more tannic the 1989 seems to be. Colored a dark plum with some lightening at the edge, the nose shows notes of compost, melted licorice, oak, and black cherry fruit. The overt oakiness noticeable in its youth has become far more subtle and less aggressive. In the mouth the wine starts off large-scaled, fleshy, and fat, but then some relatively astringent tannins kick in in the finish. This has been a perplexing wine to follow, since it was seemingly softer and ...
