2014 Greywacke Chardonnay Marlborough (Elsewhere $40)

96 points James Suckling: "A great vintage from the masterful Kevin Judd. The complexity and deeply integrated and layered character will impress. The lime-curd, lemon-pith, peach and subtle, creamy pastry flavors are all perfectly preserved. Texturally rich, flavorsome and fresh. Drink now. Screw cap." (01/2019) 94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay has a well-defined bouquet with scents of passion fruit, beeswax, orange rind and a hint of fresh mushroom. I love the definition and focus here. The poised, refreshing palate is very well balanced, with ...

1982 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien (Previously $470)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no question that Leoville Poyferre was not making wines at the level of quality they have since 1990. That said, the 1982 is a great wine, no doubt because of the vintage rather than the winemaking at that time. A brilliant effort, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a sweet, flowery bouquet revealing plenty of creme de cassis, plum, and cherry notes, stunning concentration, a boatload of power, sweet tannins (the sweetest and easiest to taste among the St.-Juliens), and a long finish. Although clo ...

2009 Alexandre Le Brun "Cuvée Dilection" Brut Rosé Champagne (Previously $80)

Alexandre Le Brun is a young winemaker from Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. He is a ninth-generation winemaker. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750, and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the incredible 2009 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced was planted in 1902. It is rich, but classically dry with dark cherry and strawberry fruit on the finish, which lingers.

2014 Williams Selyem "Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Previously $110)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is the inaugural vintage of a new estate wine, from a 30-acre property on Eastside Road across the Russian River from the winery. Pear compote, anise and lemon candy wrap around voluptuous layers marked by green apple and orange peel, offering richness and weight in hearty measure. (VB)" (03/2017) 90 points Vinous: "Williams Selyem's 2014 Chardonnay Lewis MacGregor Estate Vineyard is a very pretty, gracious wine with considerable near term appeal. Lemon peel, gentle apricot, almond, white flower and chamomile are nicely ...

2010 En Tirage Extra Brut Blanc de Blanc Carneros Sparkling Wine

A particularly rare California sparkling wine produced by Don Baumhefner who had been inspired by late disgorged Bollinger to let his wines rest "en tirage" for years. The San Francisco Chronicle's Esther Mobley fell in love with Baumhefner's 1992 and was excited to report in December 2017 that he had released another wine he discovered in Lake County that had come from a vineyard in Carneros. Mobley writes: "The 2010 Blanc de Blancs smells heady, wafting sweet bread dough. It’s rich, nutty and creamy, and more direct than Baumhefner’s 1990 and 1992 vint ...

1996 Margaux, Margaux (1.5L) (Previously $2300)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Chateau Margaux, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, must be a strong contender for wine of the vintage. It offers everything you desire from this First Growth. It is blessed with breathtaking delineation and freshness on the nose, understated at first and then blossoming with mineral-infused black fruit, hints of blueberry, crushed stone and violet. The palate is perfectly balanced with filigree tannin, perfect acidity, a wine where everything seems to ...

2007 de Fargues, Sauternes (Previously $135)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The de Fargues 2007 delivers 13.9% alcohol and 134 grams of residual sugar. Picking commenced on September 11, with slow botrytis formation and recommenced October 2-24, the picking ale to be conducted at a relatively leisurely pace. It has a very typical de Fargues nose that has lost its tongue at first, but it opens up to reveal a slightly spirituous bouquet with clear honey, pressed flowers, almond and a distant scent of the sea. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and outstanding delineation. I ...

1992 Taylor Vintage Port (Previously $300)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Taylor's 1992 Vintage Port is unquestionably the greatest young port I have ever tasted. It represents the essence of what vintage port can achieve. The color is an opaque black/purple, and the nose offers up fabulously intense aromas of minerals, cassis, blackberries, licorice, and spices, as well as extraordinary purity and penetration. Yet this is still an unformed and infantile wine. If Chateau Latour made a late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon, I suspect it might smell like this. In the mouth, the wine is out of ...

2010 Red Car "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (Previously $50)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard shows off terrific energy and vibrancy. Lemon, white flowers, mint and minerals are some of the many notes that burst from the glass in this energetic, focused Chardonnay. This parcel is planted with an older Wente clone and was picked at 21 Brix. (AG)" (12/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Hazy yellow. Lively, mineral-accented scents of green apple, quince, melon and honeysuckle, with a spicy accent building with air. Dense and pungent but lithe, ...

1990 Branaire-Ducru, St Julien (Previously $200)

90 points Vinous: "(65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot; 3.69 pH; 12.8% alcohol): Bright red with an amber rim. Decadent aromas of ripe red cherry and cassis are lifted by cedar and graphite notes. Enters the mouth soft and creamy, showing an almost opulent mouthfeel, then turns slightly diffuse in the middle, with ripe flavors of dark cherry and blackcurrant jam lingering nicely. 2003 Dyer "Meteor Vineyard—Premiere Napa Valley" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $70)

Premiere Napa Valley lots are incredibly limited, one-off bottlings from some of the region’s top producers. Only five cases of this bottling were produced. Winery Notes: “Meteor Vineyard lies at the foot of Mt. George, east of the city of Napa. Its cobblestones suggest origins as a streambed or a shoreline and provide superior drainage. We predict that Meteor Vineyard will streak to the stratosphere among Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, and we're pleased that it shines brightly as the core of our debut 2003 Dyer Napa Valley bottling: a proud c ...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A crescendo of flavors and textures hits the palate as the 2010 Chardonnay Bien Nacido shows off its pure pedigree and class. A tapestry of lemon, pastry, white flowers and crushed rocks are all woven together beautifully. Clean veins of minerality underpin the fruit, adding considerable brightness and energy on the striking finish. (AG)" (08/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow. 2008 Agusti Torelló Mata "Kripta" Cava Brut Penedes (Previously $90)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current vintage of the special cuvée is the 2008 Kripta, a classical blend of the local grapes Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada aged in contact with the lees in bottle for a long time, no less than five years, during which time the bottle is closed with a cork (it's usually a crown stopper). Apparently this gives the wine a different character and is the way it was traditionally done. This is a polished Cava with yeast and brioche aromas and a soft palate with clean, developed flavors and integrated acidity. A ...

1982 Belair, St-Emilion (Previously $290)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For over a decade I have questioned which is the better vintage of Belair, the forward soft yet powerful 1983 or the more structured, exotic 1982. I am still not sure. Certainly the 1982 has emerged from its 'ugly duckling' stage and is beginning to reveal some mushroomy, leathery notes intermingled with scents of sweet black fruits, herbs, and minerals. The complex nose is followed by a wine with very good concentration. Although noticeably hard tannin is still in evidence, this is a nicely extracted, traditionally made S ...

2014 Joseph Swan "Ritchie Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Previously $47)

Former pilot Joe Swan was a winemaking visionary who planted what have become some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Russian River Valley. The winery's allotment of grapes from the coveted Ritchie Vineyard are from some of the oldest blocks, and the 2014 is described by the winery as: "Bright lemon yellow color. Ripe pear with lemon custard and a hint of mango. Classic Ritchie profile and aromatics are present. Very rich, very full opulence balanced by good acidity. Long, full fruit."

2012 Les Matheny Chardonnay "6 ans sous voile" Arbois Blanc (Previously $45)

From the importer: "Both of them born and bred in the Jura, Elise and Emeric Foléat began Les Matheny—playfully named after their tiny home village of Mathenay—in 2007, and their holdings today encompass three and a half hectares of vines spread among Arbois, Montigny-les-Arsures, and Poligny. In the rustic old farmhouse they converted into a winery, thoughtful experimentation rooted in local tradition is their operative philosophy. Giving concession neither to easy marketability nor to the notion of a “product line,” the Foléats take each harvest as it ...

1970 Taylor Vintage Port (cracked capsules) (Previously $270)

99 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine's dark garnet color with minimal bricking suggests a relatively youthful wine and this certainly could age longer, although it's also delicious now. Wonderfully complex floral and herbal scents easily move into deep, rich flavors of chocolate and cherries, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Douro minerality and spice. Drink or hold. 2004 Promise Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $200)

From the winery: "We started with our namesake more than a decade ago when we harvested the 2004 vintage from hillside Rutherford fruit. Having a great reverence for the First Growths and other amazing wines of Bordeaux, we aspired to someday be recognized along side these renowned offerings. The intention has always been to find that magical tension between flavor, depth, balance and structure that create amazing wines. With very limited production, we have applied focused micro farming techniques, and use cooperage in all-new French oak from Darjanou, ...

2009 Morlet "Ma Princesse" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Previously $80)

This is a decidedly flamboyant style. Tropical notes come through more clearly on the finish. There is an element of heaviness that detracts from the wine’s overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017. (AG)" (02/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full yellow. Very ripe nose dominated by tropical fruits. Wine Spectator: "Refined and well crafted. Dark purple, with fresh floral and grapey aromas and flavors. Medium body, medium sweetness and firm tannins. (JS)" (07/1994) K&L Notes: 93 points from Roy Hersh: "1991 Quinta do Noval Nacional - rich ruby color that is nearly opaque. 2007 Lanson "Clos Lanson" Brut Champagne (Previously $200)

Now mature, this wine is ready to drink. *Editors’ Choice* (RV)" (12/2018) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2007 Clos Lanson was disgorged in July of 2016, after more than eight years aging sur latte. Still holding back yet there's fruit under it all.--1990 Bordeaux retrospective. (JS)" (08/2000) 90 points Vinous: "Red cherries, strawberry, rose petals and a touch of sous-bois, conveying more tension than the preceding vintage. 2014 Mail Road Wines "Mt. Carmel Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay (Previously $100)

95 points Decanter: "High elevation and limestone soils mark Mt Carmel Vineyard out. The vines are dry-farmed and the result is wonderful: ripe fruit only just peeks though on the nose, an aromatic notion of ripe yellow apple with lemon brightness, surrounded by echoes of smoky hazelnut. The palate resprises this theme, and everything is still taut and dew-fresh, it seems. This is precise, concentrated and elegant; its considerable force is brought into enviable poise. 2007 Kruger-Rumpf Dorsheimer Burgberg Riesling Spatlese Mosel (Previously $45)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Kruger-Rumpf 2007 Dorsheimer Burgberg Riesling Spatlese smells strikingly and exotically of candied violets, very ripe honeydew melon, blackcurrant, and mint. Opulent, creamy, and overtly sweet on the palate, it finishes with additional hints of nougat, vanilla cream, and caramel. Seldom is a German Riesling this winsomely confectionary as this, and certainly not at Spatlese grade.
