1991 E. Guigal "La Turque" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1991 E. Guigal "La Turque" Côte-Rôtie (99RP, 98JS, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 La Turque behaves as if it wants to be the northern Rhone's answer to Richebourg and Musigny. However, with the exception of Domaine Leroy, you cannot find a Richebourg or Musigny with the richness and complexity possessed by this awesome wine. The saturated dark purple color is followed by a wine that is surprisingly lighter in the mouth than its great flavor intensity and rich extraction would suggest. It is a winemaking tour de force in that Guigal has been able to cram phenomenal levels of fruit, complexity, and richness into this velvety-textured wine without causing it to taste heavy. 1991 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1991 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (97JG, 94ST, 90RP). John Gilman: "I still have a few bottles of the 1991 Gentaz Côte Brune in my cellar and I will not be planning on opening a bottle for at least another five to ten years, as this is a remarkably young wine still at age twenty-two! The young and beautifully complex nose soars from the glass in a magical mélange of cassis, black pepper, smoked meats, stony soil tones, black raspberries and a smoky topnote redolent of bonfires. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a very stony signature of soil, firm, ripe tannins and a very, very long, poised and youthful finish that still shows just a bit of its youthful stemminess. This will ultimately be one of the greatest vintages ever produced by Monsieur Gentaz in his long career, but I would definitely keep it tucked away in the cellar for several more years to come, as there are layers and layers of comp

1990 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (93JG). John Gilman: "As many lovers of Côte-Rôtie will recall, 1990 did not favor this appellation with the same success as encountered further south in Hermitage and Cornas, as the extreme heat and drought conditions forced the vines to shut down for an extended period of time during the growing season, leading to quite a bit less general ripeness in Côte-Rôtie than was the case in other appellations. However, Marius Gentaz managed to craft a superb example of the vintage, and the wine is beginning to drink beautifully after an extended period where the structural elements in the wine had the upper hand. The bouquet is now deep and brilliant, as it soars from the glass in a blaze of red and black raspberries, grilled venison, tobacco leaf, curry past, stony minerality and cracked pepper. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very much defined by its underlying terroir, with great vinosity, d

1991 E. Guigal "La Mouline" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1991 E. Guigal "La Mouline" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, 99JD, 97ST, 96JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The black/purple-colored 1991 La Mouline appears to be a perfect wine in the making, with a staggering bouquet of violets, bacon fat, sweet cassis fruit, and toasty oak. The wine exhibits superb density. It is tasting even richer and more concentrated than it did during its first several years of life. With 8% Viognier in the blend and made from extremely low yields (only 400 cases produced), it is a phenomenal wine. I find it more seductive than the nearly perfect 1990. (RP)" (01/1997)
