2001 Aia Vecchia "Sor Ugo" ($34.99)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Dark purple. Fantastic aromas of currant, blackberry and hints of new oak follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Very impressive. A very serious new wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. From the former winemaker of Ornellaia, Tibor Gal. (JS)" (10/2004)

2004 Ambrosini "Riflesso Antico" Toscana - 9 available ($39.99)

Ambrosini's Riflesso Antico is a unique bottling of 100% Montepulciano from the Tuscan coast. It is a full-bodied and age-worthy rendition of the varietal.

2013 Bonavita Faro, Sicily - 2 available ($39.99)

2006 Castellare I Sodi di San Niccolò - 2 available ($79.99)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 I Sodi di San Niccolo is shaping up to be both one of the wines of the vintage and one of the great all-time versions of this Tuscan thoroughbred. Rich, explosive and totally compelling, the 2006 boasts superb intensity and dazzling overall balance. The 2006 is every bit as promising as it was when it was first released about two years ago. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. (AG) 96+" (06/2012)

94 points Vinous: "(a blend of 85% sangiovese and 15% malvasia nera, aged in barriques; 33 g/l dry extract) Good full ruby-red. Rich, deep aromas of ripe red cherry, sweet almond and tobacco, with subtle floral and mineral nuances building with aeration. Then fruity, tactile and very intense, with a floral element lifting the superripe red cherry, tobacco and delicate underbrush flavors. Finishes magically mouthcoating and smooth, with terrific juicy persistence. Even though I know every vintage of this wine well, I was amazed at how good this young wine was; in fact, this vintage may well be one of the three best ever. (ID)" (07/2010)

94 points Wine Spectator: "Full and silky red, with plenty of ripe tannins and loads of fruit, yet also subtle and layered. This very pretty red should improve with lots of bottle age. Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. (JS)" (10/2010)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Here's a masterpiece Sangiovese (with 15% Malvasia Nera) that shows a plush, rich nature and loads of fruity aromatic intensity. The wine is smooth, penetrating and long-lasting." (04/2011)

2007 Castello del Terriccio "Tassinaia" Toscana - 2 available ($39.99)

2001 Collazzi Toscana Rosso - 4 available ($29.99)

91 points Wine Spectator: "Lots of smoke, berry and fresh tobacco on the nose. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a delicious finish. Very fine indeed. Only the third vintage of this wine, which continues to be outstanding. From part of the Frescobaldi family. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc." (10/2003)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Collazzi, with a smoky black currant nose and notes of cedar and pencil shavings, is medium-bodied, fine textured, fragrant, and stylish. When the vineyards are a bit older, the concentration and depth will undoubtedly increase as well." (04/2004)

1997 Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino - 2 available ($69.99)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby with a garnet core. Opens with appealing smells of sottobosco, tobacco, wet soil and spicy cedar. Redolent of overripe fruit, primarily plum jam, and a heady mix of earthy flavors and fresh road tar. In spite of a pronounced acid bite the abundant tannins are suave, and there is an impression of density and weight. The long finish carries an aftertaste of roasted chestnuts. The acids seem slightly intrusive but the wine intensity and zest are nonetheless quite attractive. (EB)" (07/2002)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1997 Brunello di Montalcino boasts an intoxicating perfume of new saddle leather, cherry jam, dried Provencal herbs, and spice box. (RP)" (10/2001)

Staff Image

2009 Dei "Sancta Catharina" Toscana - 3 available ($34.99)

94 points James Suckling: "A wine with lovely ripe fruits such as strawberries and cherries with hints of new wood. Full and very velvety with a pretty balance between fruit, wood and acidity. Always excellent. Cabernet Sauvignon. Better in 2014." (08/2012)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Sancta Catharina is 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah and 10% Petit Verdot, aged in French oak barrels. It is a decidedly powerful, structured wine bursting with blackberry jam, violets, menthol, licorice and French oak. (AG)" (06/2012)

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: " Dark ruby. Lovely aromas of blackcurrant, violet and aromatic herbs. Sweet and suave in the mouth, with refined black fruit, cedar and mineral flavors. Finishes balanced and long, with smooth tannins. Excellent wine, and the best-ever Sancta Catharina" (07/2012)

2004 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana - 3 available ($129.99)

97 points Wine Spectator: "Shows a very ripe nose, with rose, berry and hints of meat. Full-bodied and powerful, with chewy tannins and a long, long finish. Massive yet balanced. What a wine. The greatest Saffredi ever made. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Alicante. Better than previously reviewed. (JS)" (10/2007)

96 points Vinous: "Elisabetta Geppettis 2004 Saffredi shows the sexiness and silkiness of this great Tuscan vintage. Here it is the expressive bouquet and silky tannins that stand out most. The 2004 can be enjoyed today and over the next decade or so. Saffredi is one of my favorite Maremma wines and 2004 is one of the top vintages. (AG)" (10/2013)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Saffredi is one of the most exciting super Tuscans of the year. The blend is Cabernet, Merlot and Alicante and the results of underscore the immense potential of Maremma. The wine is vibrant, intense and sprightly with an outstandingly complex offering of pristine aromas: ripe cherry, floral essences, red apple and subdued almond. *Cellar Selection*" (04/2008)

Jancis Robinson: "Magnum. Transparent. Some freshness but complete and dense. Tense. Mineral. Exciting but quite a lot of acid and tannin. (18/20 points)" (11/2013)

1999 Fattoria Paradiso Saxa Calida ($24.99)

Saxa Calida is Latin for the Hot Rocks that radiate heat to make this vineyard extraordinarily warm for the zone. 50% Cabernet & 50% Merlot for this cult classic, only 200 cases produced.

2012 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Previously $200) Price: Hidden

98 points James Suckling: "There's a very complex and fresh nose with elegant red cherries, spices and light herbal nuances. Smells very fresh. The palate has beautiful focus and depth with effortless rich dark and red cherries cast amid perfectly proportioned silk-smooth tannins. Long and so focused, the finish is superb. Try from 2022." (04/2018)

98 points Wine Spectator: "This is bright, juicy and packed with cherry, strawberry, floral and mineral aromas and flavors. Linear in shape and tightly wound, yet very pure, with a long, detailed aftertaste that pulls all the elements together. Best from 2021 through 2040. (BS)" (03/2018)

96 points Vinous: "Bright saturated red. Deep, pure aromas of raspberry, licorice and minerals; a whiff of white pepper and aromatic herbs emerges with air. Sweet, dense, chewy and powerful, offering superb depth and nuance to the rich red cherry, licorice and potpourri flavors. Tactile, serious and extremely long on the fine-grained, lifted finish. Yet another great wine from Fuligni, and a knockout Brunello Riserva. (ID) 96+" (04/2018)

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Enticing scents of iris, violet, perfumed berry and cake spice mingle with whiffs of balsamic and menthol. Full in body, but boasting a weightless elegance, the palate delivers juicy wild cherry, raspberry preserve, cinnamon and licorice. Taut, polished tannins provide structure and finesse while fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2022-2032. (KO)" (05/2018)

Jancis Robinson: "Mid ruby with narrow orange rim. Alluring cherry nose with minerally notes. Gorgeous intensity and length, the fruit streamlined with sappy acidity and fine, long tannins. Lots of class. Will give lots of pleasure for years to come. 18/20 points. (WS)" (09/2018)

2007 Isole e Olena "Collezione Privata" Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana - 3 available ($74.99)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata shows characteristic varietal greenness with crushed peppercorn and medicinal herb. Ethereal tones of tar, smoke and tobacco fill in the rear. The wine is tightly built and shows the natural structure necessary to withstand more cellar aging. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028. (ML)" (08/2013)

90 points James Suckling: "A cabernet with currants and spices on the nose and palate as well as fresh herbs. Full body, velvety tannins and a medium finish. Drink or hold." (12/2013)

Staff Image

2010 Le Macchiole "Messorio" Bolgheri - 3 available ($229.99)

96 points James Suckling: "A wine with great structure and muscular tone. It's full-bodied with chewy tannins that remain polished and very pretty. The length and fruit are fantastic; it goes on for minutes." (07/2013)

96 points Vinous: "The 2010 Messorio boasts stunning depth and richness. Over the last few months, the 2010 has found a new level of finesse that wasn't apparent earlier this year. Hints of dark cherry, plum, cloves and tar flesh out on the huge, powerful finish. Although the 2010 is years away from offering its finest drinking, its class and personality are impossible to miss. Patience will be a virtue. (AG)" (08/2013)

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Earthy aromas of tilled soil, truffle, leather, black cherry and cedar lead the nose on this rich but elegant wine. The concentrated, smooth palate delivers juicy blackberry, black currant, freshly ground peppercorn, licorice, milk chocolate and tobacco alongside velvety tannins. Stunning and delicious, its already drinking beautifully but it will also maintain for years. Drink through 2025." (07/2015)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Messorio is another superstar in this blockbuster vertical of Italian Merlot greatness. This was a hot vintage that has resulted in a softly contoured and more immediate wine. You can either drink it in the near term or put it in your cellar for safe keeping. In fact, in my initial review I had assigned a shorter drinking window but I am revising that prediction here. This year saw a greater choice in cooperage houses and a move towards more barrels from François Frères among others. Maceration times were also tweaked to go a little longer, up to 30 days. Again, the winery shifted philosophies to focus on concentration and sophistication. Oak-aging was extended to 20 months. Thanks to these changes, this edition of Messorio excels in depth and finesse. (ML)" (10/2016)

93 points Wine & Spirits: "You might be tempted to drink this Merlot on release, to enjoy its prodigious richness, its scent of freshly turned earth and the potent juiciness of the fruit, a tight kernel of purple flavor that expands even as the tannins restrain it, pulling it back so the wine feels withheld. What tactile pleasure the wine offers now will gain with bottle age; as the tannins meld, they will offer more complexity, while the fruit is fresh enough to handle their touches of heat." (04/2014)

92 points Wine Spectator: "A pure version, evoking cherry and plum fruit shaded by oak spice and smoke accents. This is firm, supported by a backbone of acidity and tannins. Tightly wound, this needs time and should develop over the long haul. (BS)" (04/2014)

2004 Le Macchiole "Scrio" Toscana - 9 available ($124.99)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Le Macchiole's 2004 Scrio (Syrah) is a wild, exotic wine that flows from the glass with a compelling array of earthiness, mint, dark fruit, herbs, espresso and toasted oak. This sweet, layered wine possesses superb clarity and detail with an incredible lightness on the palate that is achieved notwithstanding its density. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. (AG)" (06/2008)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Shows delicate aromas of black pepper, cloves and fruit. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit and supersilky tannins. Very refined and stylish. Syrah. (JS)" (10/2007)

2007 Orma Toscana Rosso - 2 available ($49.99)

Staff Image

1997 Ruffino "Greppone Mazzi" Brunello di Montalcino - 3 available ($59.99)

96 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep garnet from core to rim. Powerful cherry and tobacco aromas meld with saddle leather and India ink. Very ripe plum and dark fruit flavors, with a suggestion of kirsch Quite dense and chewy, with palate-drying tannins, but also plush and juicy. An undercurrent of stony minerality bolsters the long finish. This massively extracted, brooding wine is riveting front to back. A superb offering from Ruffino Montalcino estate. (EB)" (07/2002)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Fantastic red. Complex aromas of spices, tanned leather and ripe fruit follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with a dense mouthfeel and a lengthy finish. (JS)" (10/2002)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Musclebound with an earthy, spicy character to the nose. The body is fleshy but pure, offering black cherry flavors accented by tar and licorice. It finishes smooth, with just the right touch of vanilla oak. It's a polished Brunello, good for near-term drinking, but also a candidate for the cellar." (08/2002)

Jancis Robinson: "Superripe but, so far, appetising. Lively. Quite racy. Swallowable. Very digestible. Long exit. Good package. 18/20 points. (JR)" (05/2003)

2010 Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro "Il Bosco" Syrah Cortona - 2 available ($44.99)

Staff Image

2012 Tenuta Sette Ponti "Oreno" Toscana - 2 available ($69.99)

97 points James Suckling: "Fabulous aromas of blackberries, orange peel, raspberries and citrus. Violets too. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a light, dusty texture. It's so fine and beautiful, racy and refined. Very structured indeed but also soulful and very, very inspiring. There's a new refinement to this wine as the winemakers search for a truly beautiful expression of the terroir. Better in 2017 but a joy to taste now." (11/2014)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tenuta Sette Ponti's 2012 Oreno is a very different wine compared to its 2011 predecessor. This was also a warm vintage, yet the fruit is more masculine and sober in this vintage. The wine shows harder lines and a more determined style with shapely tannins and long flavors of dark spice, blackberry and bitter chocolate. Oreno should age beautifully over the next ten years. The blend is 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. (ML)" (09/2015)

93 points Vinous: "The 2012 Oreno is dark, powerful and voluptuous. A host of black cherry jam, mocha, spice and violet open up in the glass, all propelled by a real sense of power. The tannins are broad and intense, so readers will have to give the 2012 at least a few years to settle down. Super-ripe, explosive and concentrated, the Oreno is one of the more overt wines of the vintage. (AG)" (10/2015)

93 points Wine Spectator: "This is perfumed, sinewy and taut, boasting cherry, black currant, earth, wild herb and tobacco aromas and flavors. The tannins are assertive, but this shows balance overall, as well as a saline mineral element on the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2017 through 2026. (BS)" (07/2015)

2013 Tenuta Sette Ponti Vigna dell'Impero Toscana IGT - 2 available ($59.99)

94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Vigna dell'Impero emerges from a Sangiovese vineyard originally planted in 1935 by King Vittorio Emanuele. Ample and intense, while still maintaining a good deal of Sangiovese translucence, the 2013 exudes richness and pedigree. A host of sweet red cherry, licorice, tobacco and anise build into the succulent, deeply expressive finish. Readers should expect an intense, full-bodied expression of Sangiovese. (AG)" (11/2016)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the second edition of this new wine from Tenuta Sette Ponti. The 2013 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero is a gorgeous expression of Sangiovese that shows the wild and slightly rustic personality of the Valdarno di Sopra appellation. Only 6,700 bottles were produced. The bouquet delivers smooth integration and lots of varietal character with wild berry, spice, wet earth and underbrush. I am impressed. The 2013 vintage offers a very smooth and silky approach with medium build and good persistence. (ML)" (05/2017)

1990 Terrabianca "Campaccio" Toscana - 2 available ($49.99)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Campaccio, a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, displays a big, smoky, herb, and blackcurrant-scented nose, superb richness, a huge, chewy, full-bodied palate, admirable purity, and dazzling length. Supple enough to be drunk now, it promises to last for 10-15 years. The Terrabianca estate has benefited from significant financial investments, and the results are superb wines, which, in my opinion, are underpriced given the exceptional qualitative level. (RP)" (10/1994)

Wine Spectator: "Sexy, elegant wine with beautiful cedar, violet and berry aromas and flavors, medium body, lively acidity and fine tannins. Made from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon." (10/1993)

Staff Image

2011 Tua Rita "Perlato Del Bosco" Toscana - 9 available ($24.99)

93 points Vinous: "The 2011 Perlato del Bosco is soft, open and accessible. This is a textured, resonant style of Sangiovese typical of the Tuscan coast in its breadth and volume. The warmth and resonance of the vintage comes through in spades. Dark red cherries, licorice flesh out on the dark, savory finish. This is a fabulous effort for the year. (AG)" (08/2013)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A pure expression of Sangiovese, the 2011 Perlato del Bosco is beautifully perfumed with accents of forest berry, red rose, candied cherry and dried lavender. The 2011 vintage definitely shows an elegant and feminine side with minute aromatic details that come into sharp focus as the wine airs in the glass. The mouthfeel is smooth and plump. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. Stefano Frascolla and Tua Rita have almost single-handedly put Suvereto on Italys winemaking map. His latest releases are nothing short of spectacular. (ML)" (08/2013)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas recall tilled soil, black berries and blue flower. The soft, plush palate offers plum, black cherry compote and black pepper alongside round tannins. Its ready, so enjoy soon. (KO)" (05/2014)

90 points Wine & Spirits: "The scent of fresh strawberries infuses this sangiovese with sweet fruit, the light tannins adding a peppery edge. It feels generous in its dark flavors, soft textures and length. A supple red for prime rib." (04/2014)

Staff Image

2010 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo - 2 available ($69.99)

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Less expressive on the nose than the Briccotto, hinting at ripe, musky plum, black raspberry, menthol and tobacco. Then smooth and sweet in the mouth, but with terrific energy keeping the red fruit and tobacco flavors fresh and primary. Sweeter and more elegant in style than the 2009, but this fine-grained, firmly tannic wine really shut down in the glass. Outstanding potential here. 94+" (12/2013)

94 points Wine & Spirits: "The 7.5 acres of nebbiolo vines that Domenico Clerico farms in Pajana, a cru in Ginestra, Monforte dAlba, date to 1965 and 1970. He produces this wine in rotofermenters and ages it in French oak barriques (80 percent new) for 24 to 30 months. So you might expect it to be massive, but you might not expect the underlying energy of the 2010 vintage that drives it, or the delicacy of the bright, violet-scented fruit. While powerful oak tannins dry the mouth, the fruit rejuices itfresh black fruit touching on anise and truffles. Its finely integrated and built for long aging." (12/2014)

93 points James Suckling: "A solid wine for the vintage with pretty fruit such as cherry and plum, as well as a light minerality. Full body with chewy tannins and a polished finish. Well-crafted young wine. Better in 2017." (04/2014)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barolo Pajana is a stunning wine that shows the power and heft of the vintage. Its texture is soft and enduring with sweet almond, toasted hazelnut, bright cherry, spice and tobacco. The young tannins require more time to soften and integrate. Drink: 2017-2032. (ML)" (07/2014)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Pretty floral and cherry notes are grounded by iron, tar and tobacco elements in this beefy red, accented by a hint of oak. The tannins are aggressive yet well-integrated. Finishes long and spicy, with fine grip. Best from 2018 through 2030. (BS)" (12/2014)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Ripe berry, tilled earth, violet, grilled herb and coffee aromas lead the nose on this firmly structured wine. The palate delivers black cherry, crushed raspberry, chocolate, anisette and black pepper. It's supported by a backbone of bracing, astringent tannins. (KO)" (12/2014)

2004 Seghesio "La Villa" Barolo (1.5L) - 2 available ($119.99)

95 points Wine Spectator: "What a beautiful nose, with flowers, licorice, ripe fruit and fresh leather. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a wonderful ripeness of fruit, yet this is balanced and structured. Very smooth. The best wine I have ever had from this producer. Best after 2012. *Top 100 Wines of 2008* (JS)" (06/2008)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Seghesio is yet another producer who seems to have arrived at a newfound level of elegance. Fermentations have gradually been lengthened and the use of French oak is down from previous vintages. The 2004 Barolo La Villa is notably elegant and restrained for this bottling. It opens with perfumed aromatics that meld into layers of ripe dark fruit intermingled with sweet notes from the French oak. This superbly well-balanced, poised Barolo should be even better with another few years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022. (AG)" (12/2007)

Vinous: "Seghesio's 2004 Barolo La Villa offers good depth, but it also appears to be on a fast track of aging, as the flavors are quite forward. Dark cherries, brown spices, French oak, leather and molasses add the final shades of nuance. Drink 2015+ (AG)" (05/2015)

Jancis Robinson: "Monforte dAlba. One year in barrique (50% new) and one year in large oak cask of 50 hl.Concentrated beautiful ruby. Mature nose with nutty notes and a hint of oak. Concentrated fruit on the palate with a good dose of grainy tannins. Modernist approach but the juicy fruit comes out beautifully. 17.5/20 points. Drink 2012 - 2038. (WS)" (04/2015)

2010 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo - 2 available ($99.99)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is absolutely lovely upon first impact. It starts off dense, with notes of tar, dried cherry, and plum then adds layers of bright florals and spicy notes. Mineral shadings and smoked meat also appear as distant highlights. The 2010 vintage in particular coats the palate with a firm but subtle grip. The wine already shows great complexity. Drink: 2016-2026. (ML)" (06/2014)

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is beautiful in the way it brings together the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are all woven together nicely in the glass. With time in the glass, the wine blossoms with exquisite finesse, floral aromatics and exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the exquisite finish. An insanely beautiful wine, the 2010 will give readers a good idea of just how great the 2010 vintage is at Vietti. The Barolo Castiglione is made from a large number of parcels across the Barolo zone, many of which are of a high enough level of quality that they could be bottled separately. This is first-class juice. (AG)" (01/2014)

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Luca Currado blends this wine from his familys vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, Monforte, Barolo and Novello, the vines seven to 35 years old. Its a wine for the cellar, the tannins constricting around a generous, floral, ripe cherry core of fruit. It feels like its about to blossom with air, but only shows the clarity of its fruit more openly, still bound up in the structure. Its a pure and healthy wine that will bloom with age." (12/2014)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Graphite and mineral aromas signal this round, supple red, exhibiting cherry, strawberry, floral and white pepper flavors. Harmonious, with fine length and detail. Best from 2017 through 2029. (BS)" (12/2014)

92 points James Suckling: "A red with dried-strawberry character as well as floral, mineral undertones. Full body with chewy tannins and a polished, refined finish. Pretty wine. Better in 2017." (04/2014)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: " Captivating nose combines raspberry, truffle, earth, coffee, tobacco and a positive herbaceous note. Dense and rich but youthfully imploded, with bright acidity energizing the flavors of minerals, mocha and humus. The long, echoing finish features building ripe tannins and considerable incipient complexity. 91(+?) points. (ST)" (11/2013)

Jancis Robinson: "Castiglione Falletto. Just mid ruby. Classic nose of iron and cherry. Elegant mid-bodied feel and focused fruit, that still is a little slow to come out. Richly tannic. Slow to open up, but very long on the finish. Perfect acidity. 17+/20 points. (WS)" (04/2014)

2014 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico - 4 available ($59.99)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Exotic spice, mature black-skinned fruit, espresso and French oak are just some of the aromas you'll find on this delicious, full-bodied red. Boasting an enviable combination of concentrated flavors and elegance, it delivers flavors of ripe black cherry, prune steeped in spirits, vanilla bean and licorice framed by enveloping fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lifts the rich flavors while a coffee note lingers on the finish. Drink through 2026. (KO)" (03/2019)

93 points Wine Spectator: "A fresh, creamy, medium- to full-bodied red, with fine, supple tannins layered with flavors of crushed black raspberry, fig cake and spiced orange, offering a subtle, savory underpinning of smoky mineral and tobacco that lingers on the finish. Long and elegant. Drink now through 2029. (AN)" (02/2019)

93 points James Suckling: "A warmly spiced nose of plum liqueur, roasting herbs, chestnuts, fruit cake, dried figs, cedar, tobacco, baking spices, treacle and toasted oak. Full-bodied with some sweetness, round tannins, a pretty serving of acidity and a long finish. Drink in 2021." (11/2018)

1999 Falesco "Montiano" Lazio - 11 available ($49.99)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The profound, dense ruby/purple-colored 1999 Montiano (2,500 cases of 100% Merlot aged in 100% new French oak, and bottled unfined and unfiltered) offers a smorgasbord of aromas, including melted chocolate, espresso, blackberries, cherries, currants, and smoke. Full-bodied, with terrific purity, a multilayered texture, and surprising freshness for a wine of such depth, it can be drunk young, or cellared for 10-15 years. For technicians who care about such things, it has a whopping 37 grams per liter of dry extract. (RP)" (10/2001)

2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia ($44.99)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. Today it remains tightly coiled but full of potential. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. (AG) 92+" (08/2010)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A beautiful wine: sweet cherry and berry fruit nuances are woven within threads of vanilla, toast and ash. Despite the firm and penetrating mineral element, this wine is actually very plush, soft and round and it delivers long spicy notes on the finish." (02/2008)

90 points Wine Spectator: "A sturdy, chewy Aglianico, with bright berry fruit, mingled with floral, mineral and sweet tobacco notes. Medium- to full-bodied, with an intense bead of fruit, firm young tannins and a long, ultraclean mineral finish. Slightly less opulent than years past but excellent. Needs time. Best after 2008. (JS)" (07/2006)

Wine & Spirits: "Smoky aromas of spice and roasted cocoa add depth to the ripe cherry fruit in this wine. It's soft for aglianico; a good match for beef short ribs." (06/2007)
