We are very excited to present the Kalinda Rheingau Riesling. The wine comes from one of the top producers in the Rheingau that pays the utmost attention to detail in the vineyards and the winery. Aromas of honeysuckle, freshly zested lemons and stone fruits lead to a palate that is alive with yellow apples, nectarine and a hint of lanolin. This wine is straight up tasty, I have grown to love Riesling since coming to work for K&L and it is exciting to me to see one at this level for this price. Straw colored body full of white stone fruit and some spiced notes with good minerality and plenty of acid. The finish is more off-dry than dry which makes me happy because I love a little more richness in my riesling. I bought two bottles of this immediately and I am already ready to buy more.

Finding a great Riesling for under $15 is not always easy, and this Rheingau Riesling is a steal for $11.99. This is an off-dry style Riesling that is simply perfect for sipping in the garden while eating fresh fruit or for pairing with some spicy Szechuan food.

Just pure yummy in a glass. Juicy, fruity, not overtly sweet Riesling in all its glory. Serve with Thai and Korean cuisine or any spicy or salty meals. You'll knock back a bottle and wonder where it went so quickly.

Thank goodness this has finally arrived! This is now officially my summertime, party time, have around the house at all times wine. Bright with spiced flowers white fruits and just enough minerality and acidity to satisfy a fanatic like myself. Super clean and fresh throughout with hints of sweet fruit adding a balancing textural component to the palate.

Wow, the 2015 Kalinda Rheingau Riesling is outstanding! Classic racy mineral, well balanced acidity, and the aromatic fruit character that I look for in my Rheingau Riesling. From a quick read, sounds like the 2015 vintage is going to be a good one. This bottle will be my go-to for any sushi night!

I look forward to this wine every year and this year, I am blown away by it. It is, as our Aussie buyer Ryan Woodhouse would say - "Smashable." The color is a beautiful pale golden straw. The nose is full of stone fruits, fresh citrus zest, green apples, and a touch of lanolin. Just a touch off dry, the palate sings of apple blossoms and their bounty. It's perfectly balanced with just the right amount of cut and lift from the acid to be lively, refreshing, and indeed endlessly smashable at just 11% alcohol. Another major victory for the Kalinda label and summertime living!

- While the rest of the world has often misappropriated the name--Welchriesling, Riesling Italico, Gray Riesling and Emerald Riesling are all names applied to varieties that are NOT Riesling--this exceptional German varietal has managed to maintain its identity. Perhaps its biggest claims to fame are its intoxicating perfume, often described as having honeyed stone fruit, herb, apple and citrus notes, and its incredible longevity - the wines lasting for decades. Aged Rieslings often take on a distinctive and alluring Petrol-like aroma. Within Germany, the grape seems to do best in the warming slate soils of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Other German regions that turn out great Rieslings include Pfalz, Rheingau and Nahe. German Rieslings are made in a range of ripeness levels. The top wines are assigned Pr├Ądikat levels to describe their ripeness at harvest. These are: Kabinett, Sp├Ątlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Eiswein and Trockenbeerenauslese. Riesling has also achieved acclaim in France's Alsace, the only region in that country where the grape is officially permitted. Alsatian Rieslings are typically dry and wonderfully aromatic. Austrian Riesling is also steadily gaining praise and fine Riesling is also produced in Italy's Alto-Adige and Friuli, in Slovenia and much of Central and Eastern Europe. In the New World its stronghold is Australia, where it does best in the Eden and Clare Valleys. It is also planted in smaller amounts in New Zealand. In the US, winemakers are eschewing the syrupy sweet versions of the 1970s and 1980s, instead making elegant and balanced wines in both California and Washington State.


- Thanks to a recent string of excellent vintages and to the reemergence of Germany onto the international wine writing scene, this is a country that's hot, hot, hot! Germany is divided into 13 wine Region and produces a very wide variety of wine styles, from incredibly high-acid, dry wines to some of the sweetest, most unctuous concoctions on the planet and even a few surprisingly hearty reds. Most of the highest-quality wines are grown on steep banks along the rivers in these Region. Small vineyards are still mostly hand tended and picked, due to the difficult nature of mechanization on these slopes. White wine production accounts for nearly 80% of the total with Riesling being the most important varietal, though Muller-Thurgau is still more widely planted.
