2017 Château Saint Jacques d'Albas "La Chapelle en Rose" Minervois Rosé (Previously $16)

SKU #1367459 Jancis Robinson

Grenache grapes in a pretty, gently bulbous, bottle. Low temperature fermentation nose but very nicely, gently balanced on the palate. Perfect summer aperitif with nice salty grip on the end. Very refreshing and racy. Just the ticket. Fruit but not syrup. (JR) (6/2018)

K&L Notes

Situated to the east of the walled city of Carcassonne and in the shadow of the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains) lies Minervois. The village of Laure-Minervois is home to Château Saint Jacques d'Albas, a 90-hectare hillside estate. Some 26 hectares of the estate are planted to vines, with the rest composed of forests and creeks acting as a natural barrier to their neighbors. At the winery, a small team, led by owner Graham Nutter, crafts superb reds, whites and rosés, all of which are farmed organically. The "La Chapelle en Rose" is a blend of 50% direct-press Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and 10% Roussanne. It is fresh, lively and oh, so inviting.

Definitely a 'bigger' rosé. This pink wine packs a distinct sweet raspberry nose with a strawberry jam palate. Surprisingly refreshing with just a touch of sweetness makes this a great wine to kick-off your evening apéritif!

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
