2017 Cicada by Chante Cigale Vin de France (Previously $11)

SKU #1375492

Chante Cigale means singing cicada (a type of grasshopper/cricket), and the Cicada red is their early-drinking, everyday Grenache-Carignan blend. The property has been in the family since the 19th century and is currently run by Alexandre Favier, who assumed the reins at the ripe old age of 20. The domaine is planted to 40 hectares of red varietals and 5 hectares of white varietals spread across 45 different parcels throughout the appellation.

This is as good as it gets for a Côte du Rhône. And for this price it is an absolute must for a Monday night! Try with all sort of charcuterie, Mexican food, pizza "du jour" and yes, macaroni 'n' cheese.

Sometimes you are looking for that great wine for your party, make sure your guests are truly enjoying it, and not to empty your bank account to achieve that. This is that wine! A delightful blend of Grenache and Carignon. It is fresh on the nose, with juicy, bright fruit with very soft tannin, and just a joyful easy-drinking wine. You can pair it with cold dishes, cured meats and any mild cheese. Be a super host at your party with the singing Cicada wine!

Rhone Blends

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.

- Legendary wine-producing region in southeast France. Stereotypically speaking, Rhone wines are high in alcohol, and the majority produced is red. The northern Rhone is best known for outstanding 100% Syrah wines from areas such as Cote Rotie and Hermitage, as well as for fabulous white wines from Condrieu (where Viognier is king). In the southern Rhone, look for spicy, full-bodied wines that are blends of Grenache, Syrah, and other varietals coming from appellations such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, or Rasteau. Wines labeled as Cote du Rhone or Cotes du Rhone Village (a cut above generic Cotes du Rhone) are frequently found here in the US because they often represent some of the best values on the market.
