SKU #1408898

About this producer: "Standing above the village of Flassans-sur-Isole, in the heart of the hills of the Var, the Commanderie de Peyrassol was founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar. This great expanse of fertile soil was a popular staging post and a place of rest for large numbers of pilgrims setting off for the Holy Land. As one of the jewels of Provence, the domaine has always maintained its agricultural and winegrowing traditions."

I was really excited to see that we now carry a Peyrassol rose that isn't only of great quality, but also at such a great price point. I think we may have found the new rose steal of the century. Bright and zippy acidity, followed by crunchy strawberries on the palate. This rose is a true delight, and obviously something I'm going to keep well stocked in my fridge. I'll have what I'm having.

Holy grail rosé! This brand new release has everything you're searching for in a rosé: vivid minerality, that oft-requested light color, bright fruit, and a dry finish. Hints of white nectarine and lively acid shine through the palate, continue to crisp finish. Plus, there’s the incredible pedigree of Provencal superstar Château Peyrassol, at a bargain price. Buy a case of La Croix des Templiers for your next party, or simply keep some on hand for beach days or dining alfresco. One sip and you’ll know: you have chosen well.

Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
Sub-Region:

Provence

- Provence encompasses the southeastern portion of France that borders the Mediterranean. The largest appellation in the region is the Cotes de Provence that spans 49,600 acres of land in and around Marseilles. Thirteen different varietals are grown in this appellation with the most important grapes being Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, and Mouvedre. While much of the production is dry rose, there are many more serious wines being made from the area. Some of the most important smaller appellations within Provence include Bandol, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence, and Coteaux Varois.
